8:16 I know the focus of that scene is how Ian is finally seeing a flaw in his beloved uncle that he has hero-worshiped since he first met him when he came home from Helwater (maybe even before that - he no doubt grew up hearing plenty of stories from his family about his Jacobite uncle who sacrificed himself to save the family), but I always laugh at how Roger is stuck in this awkward situation where Ian is calling Jamie's pride out. And then again when Claire comes in and is like "What is going on!?!?" and Roger's like "I'm going to... see... about a ... thing..." and runs out. Poor Roger is always in the middle of family arguments, like when Brianna found out the truth, or when he went to visit Boston and Claire and Brianna were arguing about Brianna dropping out of Harvard. Well, you chose to marry into this family, Roger, so you're stuck with the awkward family drama.
I like many s5 eps, but this is my fave because of the bonding between Roger and Jamie (as well as marsali and claire), Ian telling him off, Claire "bringing him back," Brianna's ingenuity, the scene with ian and Fergus, fergus's panic when he realizes the baby is coming.. Although a lot happens in the ep, there's a quietness and a humanity to it that I love.
Spider venom, even Black Widow, wears off in a day. Snake venom just keeps going and going. You really need the anti-venom.

Stuck in Droughtlander these last few months, I found your reactions and truly appreciate them! Your reactions are candid and almost always mirror mine. Your review is thoughtful and intelligent. I like how you look at the show from so many different angles (moral, philosophical, historical, technical, personal). I find it entertaining how you often make predictions or ask pertinent questions JUST BEFORE the show is about to reveal the answers. also i feel in the show they lack it, but in the book Jamie and Roger become waaay closer, more besties, after that night in the forest. Also Jamie basically told him everything he would need to do to take care of the ridge, of the people, etc. so later on if roger is like teach me how to swordfight!! jamie would be like "...this dude, ok lets go...yeah, not bad, you will do". xdd cute bros

1:20 - No bison were not endangered at this point it time. There were still around 65million roaming N. America and a good sized population in N. Carolina. Sadly by the Late 1800's their population declined rapidly as more and more settlers moved out West. The Army also started slaughtering them to wear down on Native American populations that depended on Bison for food and shelter. It's really sad after it was all said and done less than 1100 bison remained in the wild and captivity. Out of 65 million!
I love snakes also and that snake doesn’t look like any venomous snake in that area. Which was disappointing.

Ope, just dropped in my RSS feed, An Outlander prequel about Jaime's parents has been greenlit. Also, season 7 will be double length to make up for the shortness of season 6.
I have a snake phobia, so I had my eyes closed the whole time you were looking at them and when the snake was shown. Spiders and other insects don't bother, or even lizards.
