Okay I think I've found a replacement turf! One of These should work:
amzn.to/3vcON7H
amzn.to/41A1yVV
I ordered some today, I'll let you know how it works when it gets here. My insert is 18"x26" so this is absolutely perfect for my hitting mat! Thank you! Do you have any concerns about Tees hitting your impact screen? I just use the plastic cone style now.
So I currently have a foam action mat from AboutGolf. It’s super expensive but it is amazing on the joints. I was looking to create my own. Are you saying this new turf is the same or better than a divot action mat?
@bklounge_golf I haven’t felt a difference in my wrists but I also don’t have bad joints
@@GolfBusters can the turf you recommend in this video be used to make a custom foam one?
Is the turf you used in this video no longer available? Or is it the amazon turf you listed?
Great Video! Thank you 🔥👏💪🫶
I have had a soft strike for 3 seasons. As you have said, not bad. I replaced the strip last year but it limits the hitting area and wear occurs pretty quickly in the same spot. Question. Would you have any concerns using the 12 x 5 piece as a stance mat? I would then match my strike area to my LM read zone. Thoughts? Great video. Thanks!
Great content! I’m trying to set up a sim in my garage. I put a 1 inch gym floor down. Couple of questions:
1. What turf did you lay over the whole floor?
2. Would I need the polycarbonate or could I just cut a place for the 1 inch hitting turf into the gym floor?
Thanks!
Watch our video on how we built our simulator and the link for the turf is there. And I would use polycarbonate or a little plywood. Just something sturdy so the turf doesn’t shift
great video...just wondering if i used the same turf, what would your recommendation if building a driving range type? or maybe you have a video how to build a hitting mat?
This works great for a driving range!
@@GolfBusters great . thanks
So I have a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 1” this hitting mat that has caused me to have wrist pain because 1. I am too steep into the ball and take big divots on the course and 2. The mat is in an in heated hangar and with cold winter temps it is very hard. Curious if you think cutting out a hitting strip and adding the soft foam under it would be a good solution.
What did glueing the polycarbonate to the bottom of it help with? Longevity? Or just shimming it up? Thanks! Is it forgiving enough, how would you compare it to the divot action/holy grail forgiveness?
Just added stability, i maybe have been able to use the mat without it but I think there’s a Hamer it would’ve bent all over without the support, not sure though you could test it out without the polycarbonate but I do like the feel of it being one flat piece when I put it in.
By forgiving do you mean forgiving on wrists? I have felt fine with it but I’ve never really had bad wrists.
I did the same thing with the EZTee hybrid turf. Smaller pieces tend to bow up a bit. I glued mine to a piece. if 3/16" plywood. Now my mat stays dead flat on the floor.
How do you have the hitting strip level (same height) as the turf when you've added a sheet of polycarbonate? Or is it not leveled and slightly higher?
It is about an 8th of an inch higher. Hasn’t been an issue I would say
There’s like 12 types of turf in that link. Which one did you go with?
The Tee Line Turf!
Are you able to putt on that turf? Have you tried?
Wish I had seen this before I ordered one from Carl's
😅
You like this one better than the divot simulating one you built?
Yes significantly better
Hello I really enjoy your content! Just wondering what are your thoughts on combining this solution with your DIY divot action solution. I don't have a big stance area so it will not be too hard to raise my stance mat along with the divot action. Do you think it will be a bit overkill?
I think it could work really well but haven't tested it myself. If you do, let me know what you think!
@@GolfBusters Thank you for the quick response! I'll go ahead and put it together and let you know what I think! I purchased one of the 3x2 turfs from Amazon so I'll also let you know how that works out!
After putting it together and putting hours on it. I think it's probably one of the best non-grass surfaces I've ever hit. It is subjective and hard to fully compare since never hit the divot-action strip on its own and the 1" turf on its own. Today I really pushed the limits by playing 36holes and about maybe 200 range-type simulation. And my body feels totally fine. My one complaint is that the 1" thick turf is a bit too grabby but it doesn't bother me at all.
Mmggppmgp- which turf did you choose from Amazon
Golf busters. I saw where you said the new turf you didn’t like as well. Have you tried one of the Amazon’s turfs you suggested?
Where did you get the polycarbonate sheet and how thick is it?
I got it from a buddy but I put a link on here to one on amazoz. I would shoot for around 1/8 thickness
How long have you been using this?
Doesn't hurt your joints?
Tia
About 3 weeks. Haven’t had it hurt at all but I usually don’t get sore joints.
What specific turf product is this? There are many on their site
Tee line turf!
Did you go with the Tee Line Turf for all
Your turf? Or was it just for the insert?
I went with the tee line turf but I think they stopped selling it in smaller portions :(
@@GolfBusters well, I am looking for a bigger portion anyway. A 12x 10 or around that
Just need to know an insert to put it that is around the same height
After a year of testing this, have you changed your mind on making it any differently? Any changes you can recommend ? Do you still think it’s better than the divot strips on the market?
I probably would just use plywood instead of the polycarbonate but still love the hitting strip itself
Feel dumb asking this but what actually are you accomplishing with just the polycarbonate board? The divot action one made sense to me with the foam underneath but I don’t see whats the point of just glueing on the polycarb
You just need something under the turf so it doesn’t like fold up when you hit it. In retrospect I would probably just use thin plywood.
Ahh I gotcha thanks for the quick reply! So it’s really the turf that’s making this able to take a divot.. have you messed around with using this turf and your previous divot action method?
@sretenfranovic2594 yes, this is 1000% more realistic than the divot action mat.
Do you not use the foam strips underneath anymore?
I don't!
The total cost to make one Mat was $100 if you don't count the extra turf.

Do you have an extra strip you can sell me?
Yeah I cant find any good mats for outside. I can bring back inside for storage. There is nithing for a reasonable price and this company only sells the 12x10 which is $600 I can't afford that.
why did you not put green side up?
I switch it so if we aren’t playing golf I have blue cause it looks better, green goes up when we play.
Says minimum 12’ x 10’. How did you get a 12” strip?
Maybe the changed it but the tee line turf only had a minimum length when I bought it. So I bought 2 foot by 12
Just checked looks like they changed it recently. I’ll look around and see if a place sells it in shorter strips
Hey everyone!
It looks like the company that sells the turf has increased the minimum orders size so now it doesn't really make it feasible to buy the turf from them. I am calling them to see if they will change their mind and also looking into other companies. If you find a company with a similar 1 inch thick turf that sells in smaller sizes let me know and I will link it in.

Any update on turf,?
Anybody want to split a min order (12’ x 10’) a couple ways? 3 people and you get a 4’x10’ for $200. Not too bad
This might be the way to go, kind of annoying they won’t sell in smaller sizes anymore.
@@GolfBustersthat being said, does the turf have enough support for you to stand on and just use a 10x12 section? Even at 600 it's still the same price as mats that are 1/4 the size other places. Thanks!

@@toddkonifka595 check the link, this looks very similar in terms of build. Seems like it’ll smash down if you’re standing on it for a while, but it won’t stay like that
This is a 3 minute video and what seems like every other or so have questions that you answered in the video. Like, come on, ppl. It's 3 minutes. How bad is your attention span that you can't watch and pay attention? Its hiliarious but equally as sad!
And its a min order of $600! $5 per sq ft. Your screwed if you only need enough for a 8x4 and you're doubly screwed if you need for a full sim since it's twice the cost of most of their other options on the site.
My order was $160 I believe it has a min width not length
