- Complete tour of the Mad County Standard (now called the Lakeside) barndominium. The Mad County Standard is a 2,300 square foot 2-story post frame construction home (39’x36′) and garage (32’x24′) with a wrap around porch. It has a main floor master with a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms.

Love the electric boiler for the in-floor heat and all electric home. This is what we are thinking for our next build too. Kudos to the owners for going all electric and ditching explosive, toxic methane or propane gas. Congrats on your beautiful home!

beautiful. only issue is the wood stove placement. it should have been on the wall with the sliding door in my opinion to have more options for where tv gets mounted and furniture placement.
Almost perfect, I wouldve prefered if theres was a formal dining area.
How much did the whole project cost
window not centered over tub is reason enough to not do pole constrution, not to mention all the other faults

Are there issues getting a mortgage/insurance on a structure like this?
Should have built the garage with the same 16’ ceiling so you have Class A or fifth wheel or car lift storage option.
How much did this bill cost? Underneath the AC outside you should’ve put a concrete pad underneath it.

If they have NG on-site, really surprised they went with electric boiler and hot water heater.
We don’t have NG where we are planning on building so this was good to see. Very curious what the efficiency differences between this and NG. I have also seen the flooring done off a heat pump but that system looks to be about double the cost of this one.

lol. I use scaffolding in my house. It’s not something you do everyday.

I’ve lived in mine for 15 years and hate these “new” builds that are just unconventional stick built homes… nothing really a barn about them, besides they are big boxes…

Yes! Depending on your jurisdiction there may be some things that would be modified.
The upstairs bed rooms are so small

Not exactly because we weren’t the contractor the entire time but based on what the client shared it was $215-220/sf. Client didn’t do any of the work.

Wood shell not for me it defeats the purpose i think you have at least the shell framing made out of steel and just the interior framing out of wood at the most !

There’s a lot of different preferences out there. Barndominium typically describes a construction type- post or steel frame. This one is post frame.
We have other build series on our channel that have a single roofline option if that’s what you’re looking for.
