  • This is a summary and rating of the 7 clock radios that I reviewed (see this channel for full reviews) from best to worst. This is a biased review as I'm rating them based on characteristics that are important to me. With that said, you may find the general information useful if you are looking for a clock radio.

    Thank you thank you Dr. Mike. I have been looking to replace a PAIR of clock radios, for bedroom and bath, that came to me like stray cats, at different times in my life. They decided - probably when I'm at work and can't hear them - to pass on to the Great Radio Valhalla In The Sky during the same week. I can fiddle around because I've repositioned my 'kitchen' radio, which is okay, but rather greasy. Another stray cat from the misty past. So now my quest is to find, for the first time in my rather silly life, the best two clock radios - new, in the box and warranty heaven - for me.
    Canvassing a selection with google's text filters lead me to the little black one at the end of your review - which I had to return because the sound was so abysmal. I should have known with a $9.99 price tag. Coming upon your seven radio critique was a godsend because you covered the bases so well. In a world of smart phones and digital clouds and whatnot, there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in covering a mundane old appliance like a clock radio. I chose the 'atomic' Sangean Model RCR-22 and the Sangean RCR 5 (black, thank god). The radio controlled clock wasn't in your 7 clock review, but you did a solo on it.
    I am absolutely sure, that based on your reviews, I will be very happy with these radios for years to come. Now I can move on to the Hamilton Beach electric carving knife that has begun to heat up and smoke a little after half a turkey.

    I was looking for a quality sounding table top am fm radio and was leaning toward the Sangean line of radios. A clock radio would have been a plus. Excellent reception and sound was most important and external antenna hookups was desirable. I found a Tivoli one preowned nearby on Facebook marketplace when I remembered a radio I picked up at the thrift store a few months ago. A Nakamichi TM1. Reception is terrific on both bands and it sounds great with treble and bass controls. It even has stereo sound through the earphone jack! I brought it out and set it up on my nightstand.

    Try a Sony icf-ds15ip of a icf-c1ipmk2. Ok its also an iPod dock but with An adapter you can charge your phone. The buttons are very ergonomic, it tells you what day it is, you can set alarms for workdays of weekends-different volume-different channel or sound, extendable snooze so 1 press is 10 min 2 presses is 20 min 3 is 30 min etc, excellent sound, aux in, remote, with 1 press of a button you can adjust an alarm, good reception. Downside its a bit bigger. Best clock radio's I've ever tested.

    Hi Mike,I`m thinking of buying the sangean RCR-20 clock radio,I think it`s a new model....I think it meets your criteria for the qualities you like ( and I like ) in a clock radio. Any opinion on this model would be appreciated,I see no reviews anywhere......Thanks

    Thank you for this. I am leaning toward the Tivoli because I’m a sucker for aesthetics. It’s unclear to me though. Can this radio operate on battery alone? Nowhere can I find this information. I want to place it in an area where there is no availability plug nearby. Thanks.

      @Drmikekuna  Před 5 lety

      The clock runs on a battery, but the radio is AC only... you need to have the radio plugged in for it to operate.

    If it was possible I would like to put my general electric clock radio up against any of these new technological Wonders that you're describing in a DX contest. I'm just saying it's pretty badass.

      +thelastmike I wasn't aware that they had a clock radio. I do like their products, many manufactured by Sangean.

      +Mike Kuna After I commented I was looking at their lineup again myself. You are right I think that they don't really have anything directed at being a clock radio especially. So probably features will be missing or not as well implemented for that.
      Enjoyed your vids. Thanks.

    I had the Tivoli Albergo. It was insanely complicated to use and the backlight stopped working after a few years even tho I didn’t use it because of the confusing control. Do not buy !

    John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
