Your best success is always opening day. Every day there after becomes increasingly more difficult.
You should start hunting archery if this is your mindset.
@@johnframpton1028 I already archery hunt. Opening day no matter the season is always the best opportunity. Once you start putting human scent into the woods every animal will become wary about a smell that normally isn't there.
With the ease of doing a survey from the PGC website and having access to the whole hunting community for their input instead of 2000 out of 6000,000 hunters always seemed fishy to me. The commissioners we have are so out of touch with the common blue collar hunter, Just like the politicians.
I still liked the Monday start better. You are loosing all the fun and traditions that you got to experience over the weekend
In terms of camp owners not having time to open camp, if you fail to prepare for camp being ready to go when you arrive that is no one else's fault but your own. That reason is totally not applicable. That is no different than saying you left your ammo at home.
The game commission only cares about selling licenses...they are ruining hunting in Pa...that's why more and more people go out of state. The pgc is only good at pimping a resource that they've done nothing to improve.
You skewed the statistics to fit your agenda. Just because only 2% said them making Saturday was a reason doesn't mean it was a negative. You said, 70% said it had no impact. That means to me that people are going regardless of what day it is which is actually against your opinion. This means they dont care if its monday either, they just wanna hunt. Wheres the 2% that said they werent going because its Saturday? There wasnt one.
Camp ownership is again, NOTHING to do with hunting policy. Why should anyone whos a camp member have a larger voice than the next guy?
Youth sales are not increasing because lets understand that hunting, especially in PA, has become boring to our youth. My son shot a deer on his very first hunt. This year he said "why would I wanna go sit out there for hours when we cant even see a deer scouting". I offered to do it any way he chose, meaning if he just wanted to walk the entire time I'd do it. He has ZERO interest. I hope some day he might circle back, he loves to eat venison but I dont know if it will ever happen.
Saturday hunting opener didnt impact hunting in PA. Killing all the doe's non stop is what did it. Lets have non stop doe seasons from Oct to January then wonder what happened. Guys in the northern tier have traditional hunting camps now turned into camps full of people who dont hunt. I guess you can burry your head in the sand while we issue a million doe tags a year and pretend that this "economic crisis" was created in other ways but ill strongly disagree.
Do you guys think retailers sell hunting licenses out of the good for hunting or their wallet? I dont think theyre selling licenses to be the good guys.
Jim is 100% correct, its about the priority to you.
Opportunity isnt about Sunday either. If you hunt a camp that has 1000 private acres your experience is completely different than a guy who showed up at a public lot opening weekend to 40 trucks.
@@bryanuncapher6436 crossbows have ruined archery season.I know... the traditional guys say that compounds ruined it as well. But if you don't have to physically pull the bow back and hold it.. its not a bow. Its a gun that shoots an arrow and it dead simple to use.
Your equivalent of 2% total as compared to the greater majority doesn't add up. The majority said there was absolutely zero difference to which they stated there was none.

Boycott pa hunt ny oh wv They each have a longer season and bigger bucks show the game commission how unemployment feels when they don’t listen to or consider Hunter feed back I’m a traditional Monday start for the deer season
Can't have bigger deer if you shoot every spike buck you see.
Ny has a Saturday opener so you probably shouldn’t hunt there either

I have been pretty disgusted with the game commission. In the last 10 years they have logged out most of the game lands in my area took out all nut bearing hard wood trees and left a big tangled jagger patch. With all the doe licenses being sold deer hunting gets worse every year cause of the lack of deer in the area. I have seen a huge dent in population in my area. As for the Saturday I hate it. They are taking away all the traditions of Pennsylvania hunting.
