This was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid. You can put a doll into the hole in the middle of the foam lilly pad, and the foam lilly pad will float in the water with the doll in it. You can use it like a inner tube lilly pad for the dolls to float in. If I remember correctly, the little pink boat also floats in the water with a doll in it. I used to bring this set into the bath with me when I was a kid. I remember the compact floating in the water, and I remember polly in the foam lilly pad and the pink boat floating in the tub as well. So cute. The green leafy bush by the ladder actually swings out to reveal a leaf bed for the dolls. You just pull on the side closest to the ladder, and the leafy bush should swing out to reveal the leaf bed. Also, the peg on the bottom of the dragonfly can be inserted into the hole that is located in the flower garden section. Then, the dragonfly can rest in the flower garden.
aww this made me smile, my parents gave me the exact gift, and remembering back my parents were the same age as i am now, and i also have a daughter. time is really our greatest enemy when not used correctly. thank you for the video.
omg i clicked the thumbnail for this SO fast because i had completely forgotten until now that i owned this as a child!! i was a late 90's baby so i must have gotten it secondhand. i didn't have any of the pieces, just the compact.
i remember trying to jam the pollys i had into the tree-canopy-bed thing and not being able to figure out how the water pump part worked, haha. i can't believe there were instructions on the bottom the whole time!! :'^)

I think you're right about the lilly pad. I'm wondering if it's meant to be a "seal" to keep water from spraying out from under or launching the dragonfly into the stratosphere if you use the water function?
i always used the green thing as a skirt, but then i saw recently it isn't classified as a skirt on only polly pocket. It would help polly to float in the water. Also her arms are spread kinda like a ballerina which makes me think that the big skirt fits with her pose.
Man, what a gorgeous playset. I would have been all over this one! The colors, the leafy pond aesthetic, and the dragonfly omg. I love bugs so much, ever since I was a kid. So any toy including bugs got an A+ in my book
Fun dragonfly facts: They do not spit water, they catch their prey in mid air with terrifying precision. They are capable of using prediction to catch their prey, meaning that instead of overtaking prey with speed, they look to see where the prey is going and moves to intercept them. All four of their wings are individually controlled, which makes it possible for them to fly forward, backward, upside down, and hover. They are amazing little things 😁

Oh wow, I didn't expect to see this one show up. It's one I remember having as a kid (I might still have it, I'd need to go through the crawlspace boxes to check), but I didn't realize it was considered rare... I should actually try to find my old Pollys, I'm certain collectors would appreciate at least some of them once I clean them, even if they're definitely not complete what with having been well-loved toys.

According to the back of the box, it seems like the green leaf/flower/Lilypad was supposed to be a sort of float for one of your little baby characters, hence why it's foam. Not sure why there's a hole, but maybe so your dragonfly can float on it too,,,?
