Love the honest reviews! Keep them coming. Hopefully you can review the multiple new paddles from Six Zero that have been or soon will be released.
Would love to see one on the Six Zero - Double Black Diamond Infinity (edgeless)
Great review. My question is about the handle. Not the length or size but the shape. Use the Solaire CFS with 2 thin (volkl) overgrips only and like the more octagonal shape of the “forged” handle. Are the new Joola’s more rectangular, or worse, square, which I don’t like?
Hello , Where do I put the lead tape like you recommended ? Just on the bottom of the paddle ?
I’ve had it for 1 week and love it. Everything feels great.
I just order mine cfs 14 today and can't wait to try it.
What’s your lead tape setup on this paddle? 5 inch strips in the throat 1G per 1 inch?
Luca, thank you for your great animated reviews. Wanted to please ask a question ? I have a Joola Colin Johns 16mm Scorpeus. What is the difference between that paddle and the new Joola Hyperion C2 16mm please ? To know if I should buy it. Thank you. keep up the wonderful work Sir !
Best regards form Panama, Central America. Your great reviews have helped me tremendously. Muchas Gracias !!!
De nada! The Hyperion will be much more stable/powerful but also much less manoeuvrable. Feel is similar but I prefer the spin and power on the Hyperion compared to the Scorpeus.
Awesome review, thank you!
What is your thoughts on the 14 versus 16 and what you get/dont get wirh each? And why you would go with one over the other?
I want to know the difference as well before making a purchase 🤓
Great review! However, if I’m not mistaken, the Perseus (and the Scorpeus) have that new Carbon Charged Surface technology, so I’m wondering why the same technology now on the C2 would generate suddenly more power and spin than the Perseus; it’s the same technology on all three paddles… Therefore on paper Im guessing the C2 should play similarly than the Perseus. Maybe I’m missing something. Cheers!
You're right, can't believe I missed that! It's quite surprising to me - there's definitely more power and spin here although I was using and used Perseus to compare. I'll have to do some more investigating...
very captivating review!
Thank you!
hi recenlty purchased the Ben johns 16 mm Hyperion C2 but seems one side has a rougher carbon charged surface the front and the other is smoother, say on the backahand is this suppoed to be like that?
or is it manufacturing problem, i also have the perseus and seems both sides feel the same amount of roughness on the carbon, where the C2 is smoohter on the back hand, let me know , Thnak you,
for the review very informative,
P.
That would probably be a manufacturing error as I haven't felt that on any of our C2s.
Love your reviews. Which paddle has small grip - control - carbon face - low swing weight?
It doesn't have the smallest grip but the Ronbus R1 Nova could be great for you!
do you prefer the c2 over the r3 nova? any 16mm you'd rank over the c2? if so which paddles? thanks!
It's very close between the two right now, I can't really say which one I prefer. All the 16mm Gen 2 thermos are fantastic so I'd really have to take them all out for a hit before saying if I prefer them.
Is the grip circumference the same as the original? Some sources have it listed as 4.125 instead of 4.25?
It’s bigger than what they’re claiming and bigger than the original. It’s very bizarre that they’re claiming so thin because it simply isn’t.
if they’re 2nd or 3rd, who do you think is 1st?
Am I wrong? It seems to me that the 14mm Ben John’s C2 paddle is the best paddle to start with as a baseline-it starts out at 7.8 oz. So when adding perimeter weighting in strategic areas, you are increasing the sweet spot, dialing in the balance/swing weight and enhancing the power-without exceeding a comfortable overall weight to maximize your particular abilities. Anyone?
It's a great platform paddle and your logic makes plenty of sense.
Yes, but the difference between 14mm and 16mm isn’t just weight.
Is the sweet spot different on the Hyperion C2 compared to the Perseus? And if so is it better or worse?
I find it more poppy and crisp but they are both objectively great (and big) sweetspots.
Hello , wondering where you put the lead tape that you recommended ? Can you show a photo ?
I put it on the bottom portion of the paddle face (neck/throat) area. I’ll find a way to show this off better in the video for the future.
@@RacketsandRunnersPickleball How much weight are you adding?
So where should I add lead tape? On the sides and the neck of the paddle?
Yes, I put it right on the neck!
I saw a Perseus with the Aero curve shape at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Weird because they don’t even have that on their website.
Interesting, are you sure it wasn't just a Hyperion C2?
Did you get a chance to play with the 14mm? Any feedback in comparison to the 16mm?
Yes I have! It's more powerful and spin friendly but less stable and controlled.
Is there any difference between Ben's C2 and Simone's C2??? On the website they have the same specs.
I scratched my head about this for about an hour and really couldn't figure it out... my ONLY guess would be they messed up the grip size on the Ben Johns specs and that it's bigger than the Simone Jardim but I haven't actually held Jardim's so I can't really say.
Thank you!! @@RacketsandRunnersPickleball
I don't like Hyperion or Perseus - have both. Love my Double Black Diamond from 6.0 though.
I find my Hyperion pretty similar to my dbd.
Would you picked the C2 over the Ruby?
I prefer the C2 because it's elongated.
This review is so general. All you state is, It's good. Are you going to go more in depth? Also, are you going to do a review on the engage paddles?
What is the swing weight of this paddle?
I have no clue what the swing weight of this was but my god it felt light. Nothing like the original
Why is it impossible to find the swing weight on this paddle?
Swingweight is a very variable stat, I'm actually surprised most brands put up a number with confidence on their sites.
@@RacketsandRunnersPickleball that makes sense. However, we as customers still use those numbers to assess how head heavy and slow a paddle might feel. And for the most part, paddles that have high swing weight numbers are slower than the ones with lower swing weight numbers...even if they are off somewhat sometimes.
Perseus is also “carbon charged”. It’s the same as Perseus but with a round head. Just read the Perseus marketing material
I'm very surprised I missed that, but even more surprised to see it because this was unequivocally more powerful/spin-friendly for me. Could be that I was using a worn Perseus but I don't think so because I've always had an issue with that on the Perseus but not on this paddle.
Selkirk luxe next
I’d like to hear where you put the lead. I love my original Hyperion cfs 16 and expected this to be more like that given the shape and name
It plays quite differently, for sure. If you want to bring the swing weight up to where it was on that paddle add a lot of weight to the neck/throat area.
@@RacketsandRunnersPickleballnot to the head? Just figured the original was so head heavy adding weight to the head would be the answer. Definitely new to the lead tape game
I just happened to go on your website. Why are you charging like $75 over retail?
We are a Canadian company and prices are in CDN$.
Six Zero Infinity Edgeless DBD
I hope we get them soon!
for $336 I wish I could test drive it first :)
If you live in or near Vancouver, we do demos!
Great review but maneuverable 😉not maneouvrability 👍
paddle area slows swing speed. DOH!
I though these were thermoform
They are thermoformed/unibody.
Meh same as persues lol
Ehhh....to each their own. It's no DBD
The DBD is one of the best, no doubt.
Stop! It’s the same paddle as the Perseus. They are both carbon charged surfaces.
It doesn't feel like the Perseus at all in my experience. Then again, the Perseus 16mm felt weirdly different to the Scorpeus 16mm.
Played with both. Feels and handles different to me 🤷♂️
@@squeaky61 yea, played both again. I think the Hyperion has a bigger sweet spot 😀
