The HiHat stuff is very interesting cause in one hand you want them to make special and on the other hand you have to keep the whole thing simple and not to overload your project.

if your having problems with over loading, freeze tracks and bounch midi your not using, as well as tracks overloaded with plugins and healthy reminder "do you really need all that" (regarding plugins)

he doesn’t mean “overload” the PC. he means overload the sound with too much going on that ruins the beat.
you can hover over any midi note in the piano roll.
hold CONTROL and COMMAND and drag up or down to change velocity
this works when selecting multiple notes too

I think Drum Machine designer only came out with the 10.5 update that came out almost exactly a year ago.

@@prod.bymedokyou could with the brush in midi. but you did not have the patterns in the step sequencer
so underrated.

I think what made this video so great is how you explained everything. I get confused when people use the terminology of Pro-Tools experts and stuff because I don't know what they are and then there's no visual representation to even hint at what it is they're talking about.
Terminology needs to be explained to a beginner as they have never created music before. You soon find out who really cares about teaching and who just wants views and subscriptions?
Your point is valid and its simple 101 teaching so people like us can become famous producers. Most give up if they can't understand the terminology or technology.

I broke my windows computer a few months ago and decided to get a Mac and I bought Logic to try out. I have been using FL for over a decade so Logic was like a foreign language to me. I wanted to tear my hair out but Your tutorials are A GODSEND! Especially the ones on Drum Machine Designer. That is also a good send for us beat makers who use Logic. Now it's basically as easy as FL to make hip hop drums.

Good stuff. I layer my trap hi-hat patterns then mute or erase the ones I don't need. It's so amazing that all of these plugins are coming out specifically for hihat patterns. I been doing my own hihat rolls forever.

Hey Jamaal thank you so much for uploading these videos man they are helping me a lot. I have one question about the drum machine designer. When I drag and drop my hat sample on the channel, only the root note shows up in the step sequencer. Do you have any idea how I can make it show all the notes like yours? thanks.
Logic also has a swing paramater setting you can use to the strength and amount of the swing

So when i convert to a midi region, i dont get the option to change to note region, is there another way to do that?

3:38 how to do that? in my version this "separate by note pitch" doesn't exist
after i convert my hi hats to a midi region. my hi hats don’t play through out the entire piano roll & i can only use the the root not of C1. does anyone have a fix? thank you!

Drums and bass don't always have to be on top of each other, they can be on the 1, on the 2, on the 3 etc, and it'll still work.
