  • Kyzylorda (kaz. Kyzylorda, Qyzylorda; earlier - Kamysty, Ak-Mechet, Perovsk, Kzyl-Orda) is a city in Kazakhstan, the administrative center of the Kyzylorda region.
    Population - 242,462 people, more than 300 thousand people live with adjoining towns and villages
    The city was founded in 1820 under the name "Ak-Mechet" - as a fortress of the Kokand Khanate. It is located on both banks of the Syr Darya, 830 km southwest of Nur-Sultan. Railway station, airport. The villages of Tasboget, Belkol and Kyzylzharma are subordinated to the city administration.
    In 1925-1927 it was the capital of the Kazak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic within the RSFSR.
    From the time of foundation by the Kokand people in 1820 and until the capture by Russian troops led by generals Perovsky and Khrulev in 1852, the fort was called "Ak-Mechet" (Ak-Meshit). The same name officially bore the city from 1922 to 1925.
    Fort Perovsky since 1862, with the acquisition of the status of the city, was called "Perovsk" - by the name of General V. A. Perovsky.
    Since 1925, the city was officially called Kzyl-Orda (which means "Red Capital". The renaming is associated with the transfer of the capital of the Kazakh Autonomous Republic within the RSFSR from Orenburg).
