- "How Deep Is Your Love" was one of the first songs that Tommy Emmanuel & John Knowles worked up that eventually became the album 'Heart Songs'. That album is an instrument album of timeless love songs. Tommy said, "John and I chose this song because it's so beautifully written and needs nothing but the melody and chords to blend together. It's one of the finest Bee Gees songs written." Tommy is playing a custom Larrivee guitar. The sound is by Brad Benge, and the video is directed by Clara Emmanuel.

When Tommy plays with other musicians he brings a level of control to his own playing which just raises the bar to amazing heights. The Bee Gees would be so proud to hear this.
Barry saw the video on CZcams the day after Tommy uploaded it. He invited him to his home for a little jam. Barry loved it. I bet they were probably already acquaintances since both are from Australia and in pretty much the same business.

Seeing two elderly man plays guitar in harmony, with How Deep Is Your Love from Bee Gees as the song choice, sitting on a couch on Saturday, while rain is pouring outside the window with hot coffee and my wife beside me just makes my day complete.

I've had many friends who were trained in classical tradition (some of them in Juliard or Curtis) , and I realize many of them don't even love the music they play anymore. Music to them is just hard training, hard work. and it became impossible for them to bring tears to other people's eyes, let alone to their own. To me, they just seem to have lost touch with music, or the essence of it.

@@ctihodnymuz72 Oh boy, one of those. Actually this is a fingerstyle version of a pop song that is actually much "jazzier" than the original. Lots of advanced chords, harmony and theory. Is "real" music something that someone else writes that you play by reading the notes? You know, like painting by numbers? VERY FEW of my favorite musicians can actually read music and one could posit that that's what makes them exciting and fresh. They really don't know the "rules". Seems like the people that always say this couldn't even improvise one bar. It's a coping mechanism. Oh, and these guys actually had the skills to work out the arrangement.
