      Please be sure to engage the vehicle's parking brake. You need to engage the vehicle’s Parking Brake in an ON-OFF-ON operation in order to access the video and still image menu. This might also be known as the Hand Brake or the Emergency Brake. If you engage the vehicle’s Parking Brake and still can’t access the still image menu, the in-dash receiver’s Green Parking Brake Wire may have an incorrect connection to vehicle. What should the background image size and resolution be for a DMH-W4660NEX?

  • @TheBeatBuds

    Do you have to use the USB-A adaptor to upload firmware and customizations like this one? Or can you use a USB-C flash drive plugging it directly into the USB-C female cable that comes with the unit? Also, this may not apply, but just in case it does, I’m an iPhone user so if that makes a difference please let me know. Thanks!

      If you have a USB-C flash drive you can use it to update the firmware on Pioneer receivers with a USB-C port on the back. As you mentioned, simply use the USB extension cable included with the receiver. You can also use the USB-C to USB-A adapter to update the firmware from a USB-A flash drive. Both should work exactly the same way. When using the USB port to update the firmware of the images, the type of phone you are using does not make any difference.

      @@pioneerelectronics awesome, thank you! I’ll be using a usb-c drive then, and I won’t concern myself with the usb-a adaptor. Last question… does the usb-c thumb drive have to be a 32 gig drive that is formatted to FAT32? Will an update ever require more than 32 gigs? Do you have a recommendation for a usb-c thumb drive to use for updating firmware? And if so, can you please provide a link. Thanks a ton!

      @@TheBeatBuds There is no particular limit in size for the USB flash drive. Use any size of flash drive you want 64GB, 128GB it will work. The USB Flash drive must be formatted as FAT32, or as NTFS. Don't use ex-FAT it will not work.

    Hi there, can I do it with my DMH-C2550NEX? I want to customize the background of my head unit from a photo that I save from my computer. I copy-paste it to the flash drive but I have an issue when I insert the flash drive the message pops up on the screen of the head unit saying the file is unreadable. I tried to re-format the flash to NTFS but still, the same message appeared on the screen what should I need to do? Thanks

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  Před 2 lety

      Please watch this How To video from Pioneer about custom background images on NEX receivers like the DMH-C2550NEX: czcams.com/video/ObpKXwrN8us/video.html
      I recommend to watch the video with the sound on.
      Be sure to format the USB drive as FAT32 or NTFS. Don't use ex-FAT. It does not work. You may need to try a different USB drive.
      Use a .jpg, .png, or .bmp image format only. Try a lower or a higher resolution image.
      On the receiver settings, be sure to set USB MTP to Off.
      To get to settings touch Gears>Tool Box> Input / Output Settings > USB MTP Set to Off.
      You can see it in this How To video from Pioneer: czcams.com/video/OMJ5yJ6157g/video.html

    So the CarAVAssist app to al change background doesn’t work? I have the w4660 and it doesn’t carry on to my device when I change it on the app even tho the settings to transfer the background images don’t

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  Před 3 lety

      Using the Car AVAssit app to change the background image on your Pioneer receiver works great and is easy to do. Please note, there are two different background images. One background image is for the AV Source Screen. This is the image in the background when you have the Source for example FM radio screen open. The 2nd image is the Home Screen image. When you touch the home button, the image you see is often muted and in the background of other information on the screen. To use the Pioneer Car AVAssist app, please be sure to have the latest firmware installed on your Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/SiriusXM/DMH-W4660NEX#downloads and please be sure to use the latest version of the Car AVAssist app. Version 1.08 or newer. To set up the app, your phone must be connected through Bluetooth and you must register the receiver with the app. This is explained in detail on the app in the instructions. Once the receiver is registered with the app, choose an image to import or background to set for the AV screen and the Home screen. Next go to the receiver with the vehicle safely parked with the parking brake engaged and choose the AV Assist app on the receiver screen to enter the transfer mode. Touch the receiver screen to begin the data transfer. If you have a high quality image it may take a few moments for the image to transfer to the receiver. Please be patient. The receiver will display a complete message when the transfer was successful. • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 Před 4 lety

      First, please check to see if your DMH-W4660NEX needs a firmware update. Check System Information > Firmware Information. You can find the latest firmware update for the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/DMH-W4660NEX#downloads This file is compressed and must be decompressed before you transfer it to a USB flash drive. Please be sure to "unzip" the firmware update file you downloaded from Pioneer's web site. When you download the firmware update from Pioneer on to a USB flash drive, please be sure there are no other files or folders on the drive. The drive must be formatted to Fat 32 or NTFS. You can find the instructions to update the firmware here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware%20Update%20Files/2020-DMH/AV%20Receiver_Update_Instruction_06-17-2020_20Main.pdf Please read the instructions and follow the instructions carefully. I turn the car on so that only the stereo turns on. The image has been saved to a ScanDisk flash drive. Although the stereo recognizes the file it won't let me download it as it believes the vehicle is in motion. Can you please help? Thank you.

      You'll need to engage the vehicle's Parking Brake, this may also be known as the hand brake, in an On-Off-On operation. If you engage the Parking Brake and still can't access the images, your vehicle may have an incorrect connection to the receiver's Green Parking Brake Wire. Please contact the camera manufacturer for help with the camera.
      Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver.
      The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver.
      The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen.
      Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera.
      When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.
