Mine came today. The box is adorable and when you lift the lid, they smell so good. Not used them yet, just loving looking at them!!

I have the Arteza and Prismacolor Pencils and I will purchase these as well. Since I am new to coloring pencils I would rather use budget pencils as I journey through learning this medium rather than my prismacolor or my polychromos. Thank you for this video it is really a big help in teaching me how to swatch as well.😊😊

I'm going to be buying these. I just put them in my Amazon cart. lol I'm a yellow lover so I'm happy to be seeing so many yellows in this set. I wish there were more green and fewer greys, but you can't win them all. haha I'd rather have more yellow than more green if I had to make a choice. Thanks for the video. :)

UPDATE: I spoke with my contact at the company are THEY ARE WAX-BASED PENCILS. There was a mistake on the Amazon listing and it will be corrected.
I mentioned in the video that these are a wax-based pencil because this is what I was told by my contact from the Arrtx company when I asked. The Amazon listing does state that these are oil-based. I have a message out to my contact at the company to get clarifications on this. Either way, they are great pencils as you can see after I put these through all my standard tests. I just need to spend some time to sit down and color with them so I'll update soon. Happy coloring everyone!
I hope these are wax, as oil pencils can give me problems sometimes from the smell. Did these have a chemical smell more than a wax set would usually have? The colors are beautiful, and you did such a good job of showing these to their best. If they don't have that oil smell (vs. wax non-smell), I am interested in purchasing these because I really trust your judgment and how you let the pencils sell themselves. Thank you so much!!!
@@jeanblythe1595 these do not have a smell at all, at least not to me. I know some people are more sensitive than others, but I honestly smell nothing.

@@jeanblythe1595 the pencils themselves don't smell other than a slight paint smell from the painted surface. The foam in the box does have a chemical smell so when you get them, remove the foam and air out the pencils to remove the foam smell completely. I am also sensitive to odours but after removing the foam and letting the pencils air out they no longer have an odour.

So glad to see this review. I am brand New to pencils and I just won a set of these from Arrtx. Do you ever use Gamsol, blending Stumps or Blender pens. Trying to find out what I need to get. So I can get started. Also what paper would you recommend?

I've got them for a few years and also ordered Arrtx pencils, so I can get you some comparison here when they arrive (from Aliexpress it will be a month I think). :) To be honest, I really felt the need to order new pencils because I'm not much satisfied with Marco Raffine. I got them because they were super cheap but my hand hurts from burnishing these, also when I sharp them to the nice point, they tend to break. I can't say anything about Arrtx now but if I could compare Marco Raffine to Koh-i-noor Progresso which I have (they are from good brand so that's why I mentioned them), M. R. also have a bit poor pigmentation. First I thought it is good but only when I tried Koh-i-noors (or Art Creation by Talens), I've found out how should the good pigmentation perform. Ok, I love to work with what I already have but it is more enjoyable to work with something what doesn't cause me a wrist pain. :) I can't wait what differencies I'll notice compared to Arrtx.

Oh no! I'm sorry they now lowered it. I haven't looked today. They're still a fantastic deal. These are great pencils. I've been coloring with them all day and have another video coming soon where I test them in different coloring books on different paper to see which books they work best in. Happy Coloring!

I have been trying to concentrate using oil based pencils lately. While I do like the oil based ore than I used to, I really like my wax based pencils the best especially prismas, black widows, and Crayolas. Yes, I just did a whole page in just Crayolas and it turned out pretty OK!
Would like a comparison to Prismacolors, especially the identical names.
Since the names are like prismacolors, I would like to see a comparison with the prismas to see if the colors in both sets match or are close.
I would like to see a video where you color a picture with the Arrtx colored pencils.

I Have Now Bought These Pencils
i love your videos and watch all of them once a week. I am disabled and live on $200.00 a week 100 at the begginning of the week and 100. in the middle of the week. I need the black widow dragon, scorpion, and cobra to finish the set. but it is very hard for me to save for them because i go directly to the grocery store and it is gone.

Haha! Love my light blue always and forever! I'm still waiting for a budget set to come with a TRUE LIGHT BLUE!!! I guess that's what we have pastel sets for....that's as light as it's gonna get. I'll have to keep loving my higher end sets for the light blues.
The Prismas definitely covered better, but since I'm used to Crayolas, Prismas are challenging for me. I think Artexx are a better fit for me.
Since you like Prismacolor so much, you might want to try vintage Berol Prismacolors if you haven't. I got my hands on some and they are like Prismacolor Premier...but better! You can tell just by holding the pencil and looking at it that it's a sturdier pencil, and I find it to be generally better quality all around. That's not to say I think the Premiers are bad, and I don't want to act like the Berols are like 100x better, but I do find them to be a better pencil and worth looking into if you're REALLY into the Prismacolor experience.
I’ve been checking for listings on those for quite a while and apparently they are pretty difficult to find. I really want the whole set of them. I have not had any luck yet.
I have the Prismacolor pencils. Also have vintage Berol pencils, at least 40 yrs old and no one is allowed to touch but me. They are so much better than the newer Prismas, color saturation and blendability so much smoother. If you find Berols, snap them up and add to your collection of Prismas, well worth it.
Sort of looks like they tried to take a 50 set and stretch it, there are a lot of awfully close colors in there. They seem nice, but *looks at pencil cases* I don't think I need them.
Also, *hugs Crayolas*. Especially the neons, because those things are becoming a staple.

I am really not sure if I had to choose because those are some of my favorite budget sets. I have been using these Arrtx quite a lot today though and they are coming in here as a favorite. I have a video coming where I tested them in different coloring books so stay tuned for that!

How do you get the Jarlink to auto stop? Mine never has and I’ve tried it with Brutfuner, Castle arts, and Prismacolor.
Are you waiting for it to auto-stop or pulling it out because you get scared it will sharpen your pencils too much? I would test it with something like a Crayola pencil. If it's actually not auto-stopping then you may have a defective one and should contact Amazon to get a replacement.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils no, I was getting to scared because they wouldn’t stop and the pencil was definitely sharp and getting smaller. I’ll try it with something else and see if it ever stops. Thank you for your response.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I tried it will a couple of crayolas and it never stopped. I have put in for a replacement from Amazon. I love the sharpener though. Thank you for the recommendation.
What would you say is a better quality pencil and/or better for beginners, Arteza or Arrtx?
I have not compared the two side by side but have been wanting to do a comparison in a video.

I am hesitant to buy. Mainly because the color names not only resemble Prisma color names, but in the blending test, the colors matched perfectly. Do you think they are still worth buying because of the budget price?
Not all of the colors match exactly. Some are quite a bit off. There are also a few colors that are specific to this set only. If you go back and look at the blend test, I think it was the darkest color I used that didn’t match.

Welcome to my channel. I wouldn't say they are better, but they are different. They are both good pencils. If you are looking for more colors, then you may prefer the Brutfuner square since you do get more colors. If you want to go with Arrtx, I would wait a month because there is a new set with more colors coming very soon.
Because of the poor quality of Prismacolor pencils I was looking for a substitute. I think I've found it.

A "dupe", a much over used term for colored pencils, would mean exactly like, these are not exactly like Prismacolors. Close, yes, but exact, no.
