  • A long weekend meant that I could take a 9-hour bus journey to the capital of Argentina to visit the city and experience some fascinating aspects of the culture. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed the weekend.
Thanks to Leyla, Matt and Tim for all the work they do for this channel. The music and introduction as well as a lot of the thumbnails are all their work.

The stones you saw in Plaza de Mayo were put there to represent the people that died from Covid, so to remember them and also protest against the government for the way they handled the pandemic.

    Arthur,
Enjoyed your video. Given the large numbers of Italians who immigrated to Argentina have you had the opportunity to use your Italian language skills?
Also, being British have any Argentinians brought up the Falklands issue?
    Best wishes,
    Jim Scalise

Hi, in Buenos Aires I met a couple from Sardinia who were visiting and on the flight from Sao Paolo to Córdoba I also got chatting with an Italian who had previously lived in the city and was going back to see his mother. Some students have brought up the Falklands/Malvinas War but no one in public has asked me about it...

In the place where the horrendous National Library stands, there was the Presidential Palace, which was inhabited by Evita (and Peron) and where she died, that Palace was demolished by the dictatorship overthrew Peron, to try erasing the memory. from Evita (something they could never achieve...)

      @@arthurbown-mazzoni onother tip:
Mayo is pronounced maSHo, in "Argentine" Spanish, letter y followed by a vowel, the same as letter ll followed by a vowel, sounds: SH /ʃ/

I am aware - all the kids at school laugh when I pronounce it in the Iberian way and my accent is slowly but surely changing
