S-97 RAIDER: Expanding the Envelope

- Flying at 207 knots straight and level, the S-97 RAIDER® has already demonstrated speeds faster than any current operational helicopter. Sikorsky’s X2 TECHNOLOGY™ Demonstrator aircraft, which first flew in 2008, exceeded flight speeds of 250 knots. The low and high-speed maneuverability of X2 technology, at 70-plus degree angles-of-bank, is critical for operating in contested environments. Fly-by-wire controls reduce pilots’ workload so they can focus on the mission. And the ability to fly at high altitudes and hover in hot conditions, common in the INDOPACOM region, is critical to the Army’s FARA mission.

i hope the helicopter is better than the bitrate of this audio
Don’t complain about youtube compression😂
@@AugmentedGravity it's not yt compression
@@jesperomsf816 it is part of it my man
I'd like 2 please
What a wonderful created is it.

Awesome
Great helicopter 🚁🚁🚁🚁 video
Amazing.
What a nice chopper , hopefully there's be armaments and missile or machine gun..
I couldn't imagine being a helicopter test pilot.
Futuristic
so cool
Sick
Does it float?
epic
Here's one for😊 engineering. Consider a turning function, effected by different RPM counter-rotating rotors. How, isn't that for enginerring? Also, get that horizontal drive engagable with lift. Luke

What happened to the sound quality? Did you all run out of budget?
Since when are SAR Techs allowed to fly?
Ya can't call it Raider, they already announced the B-21 Raider
This lost, right? What’s the next step?
I legend last night that the UK fleet of HMS Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales are in serious trouble... please send your best engineers to help ..
My only regret is that I have only one life to give to the military industrial complex
ALL HAIL LOCKMART
What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me?
where buy? i have 30 doll hairs
Just buy a larger envelope
Sad to see this lost. I honestly thought and hoped this wound win the bid
It's still a contender for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft and has real advantages for the envisioned 'streetfighter' mission.
@@helowriterseahawk7470 nope, it lost both sadly
You’re getting confused. The SB-1 Defiant lost the FVL program but the Raider X and S-97 Raider are meant for the FARA Program which hasn’t reached a conclusion yet
@AugmentedGravity You are incorrect. Very incorrect actually. The Defiant and the Raider are different aircraft. Different programs, AND the first decision you are referring to has actually not been finalized yet. It is important to look at more than the headlines.
@@brianmoore1164 i know they are🤦♂️
Waste of taxpayer's dollars
It’s a shame they still have to make relics compared to the deep deep black projects things they make. Like Apple trying to reinvent the A-Trak tapes hahahaha!!
Did you mean the 8-track tape?
Expected better from a company which made a behemoth like SR-71 in 60's with literally analog type computer
Ehm what
tell me you know nothing about aerospace without saying it
@melling hedd bro did I say something wrong here? I'm not very active on recent developments in aerospace engineering, I just said what I thought. Please correct me if I did
@@wisdomseeker041 you did.
@@AugmentedGravity my bad bro, could you please correct my error or at least tell me what was my mistake?
So sad that it lost out to V-280, they learned nothing with V-22 and army is as always chasing marine ass
let me get this straight: you don’t like tiltrotors because they had accidents when they were still highly experimental technology. Because of this, you think the better option between the S-97 and the C-280 is the one which has less flight heritage and is far more experimental?
That's because Sikorsky had too many set backs and problems scaling up while the V-280 is using mature technology having learned from the large Osprey what was the most maintenance intensive. The Osprey had much of the problems fixed and ended up being one of the safest aircraft the other 3 branches operate.
The Army is also thinking about the next possible theater of war, China, and they need to get there from bases with greater range, speed, and time which the Sikorsky competitor couldn't provide. The reason it is important is because of hypersonic missiles. The bases need to be outside their range and speed such that defenses could have a chance. Any US Navy fleet sailing near Taiwan would likely be lost if war erupted between us. Any base that's within the same reach is also in jeopardy. The Defiant was just outclassed.
You’re getting confused. The SB-1 Defiant lost the FVL program but the Raider X and S-97 Raider are meant for the FARA Program which hasn’t reached a conclusion yet. This hasn’t lost yet
Hasn't lost and that was a different program. The decision to go with the tilt rotar has also not been finalized yet. A bunch of misleading headlines released befor the actual decision has been finalized. This bird is for a different program.
@@brianmoore1164 The protest by Sikorsky was rejected by the GOA. The tilt rotor is moving on for the FLRAA program.
