    So very glad I followed my intuition and understanding when I learned about storage places and REFS.
    I kept ZFS, as I have for the past 9+ years and no issues at all!

    A couple of inaccuracies regarding NTFS. It has used B+ trees from its introduction in 1993, I believe primarily for the directory structure. It also has ~32K pathlen, but you have to use the UNC path syntax with the API to get access to it (otherwise it's limited to 260 chars). So neither of these are really new in ReFS :-)

    Hi Lowell, I am two days late on this video, but the first one to comment! lol
    Thank you for the "active disk editor" freeware, I will test it for troubleshooting computers that does not start because of missing boot files.
    By the way, did you already think about writing a book? You are compliling a lot of knowledges in your notes, so maybe an IT book would be interesting for many IT pros? Just an idea...

      I am not a writer, that is for sure, thankful so many folks in IT share good information to all on the internet, that is where much of my notes come from. Active Disk Editor is a very interesting tool for looking drives, partitions and file systems. There is an "undelete tool from the same group of programmers", it is not free but could be useful in the future. Good to hear from you!

    Thank you so much for your great explanation videos! Right now I am preparing a new Windows Server 2022 for my small business and in the meantime ReFS seems to be the preferred file system for Hyper-V VM storage (I am using a storage pool mirror). However I did not find any official docs regarding integrity streams in this scenario. Do you have any experience with this? It seems that experts in forums recommend to leave this ReFS feature off as it might damage the VHDX files by trying to auto-repair them. Do you know if VHDX or Hyper-V provide themselves some kind of integrity/bitrot protection?

    Outstanding information Mr. Lowell.
    Just one question: it is ok if we convert our current NTFS disk (lets say the C: disk) into a ReFS disk? As we do with TGP disks?
    Thank you for taking the time of making this beautiful video ❤

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  Před 3 lety +2

      Chris: ReFS will not support boot disks and page files, so NTFS is still critical. Any disk configure in Storage Spaces can be formatted in ReFS. Heed the warnings I shared on Storage Spaces. Thanks for watching!

    Great info, im stick to ZFS on linux but for windows servers and backups this is fantastic and very useful for non ssd disks, the performance increased very well on spinning disks. Even on my "Windows 10 pro for workstation" its posible to format an external drive as ReFS and the performance its up by 50% at least, no need for storage spaces at least at this time and on this version of windows.

    How come I am not able to see the BCD registry file? in the /Boot/EFI directory? I have unchecked hide protected OS files, but I am still unable to see it in that location.

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  Před 3 lety

      Download the video notes found in the video description and review the directory structure of the EFI partition. You will find it. Now Windows can boot without it but it will attempt a "default" BCD config.

    Dear Sir,
    Could you please help me to below regarding Question :
    My Computer has windows 10 64bit Enterprise Edition with all NTFS Partitions.
    My Question is : My Computer is giving this kind of error while copying from One Drive(For Example : D Drive) to USB Hard disk(USB Hard disk is also NTFS partition)
    Error name : The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again,or try a location that has a shorter path.
    I don't want to make the file name to be shorten, Without making of anything, I want to copy that files or folders (as it is ) to My USB Hard disk.
    I followed some videos on CZcams .... There is option in windows 10 but I did not get success
    Please do help in this regard
    Thank you,
    Basavaraj,
