IMO, if you can get up comfortably on a Pro board but are worried about water conditions, go with the pro for multiple reasons. As you get better you will get to a point where you no longer need a run way and can get up to a foil in seconds. A smaller board is also great for travel as it is easier to put in and out of the car/truck and carry to and from the water. There is less swing weight and if high wind is a factor, you will not have the wind under the board pushing you up all the time. I ride all the board sizes as it just depends what I want out of the ride that day.
That being said, the smaller the board does not mean the better rider you are! They are all utilities and preferences based on a whole bunch of factors. Wings will always be the defining component as they truly dictate the ride. There will also never be one set up to rule them all, I also switch between wings depending on my goal for my ride.
Larger board = due to the buoyancy as Coach R said, you can get to a foil at much slower speeds and have time to react and adjust.(Safest as well due to low speed take offs)
Smaller board= will need to go faster to escape the plain as it will sink more, especially if you are a heavier rider.(see Coachs “which board should you get” video for demonstration.
A simple wing progression would be starting with: Cruiser 1100 and/or Cruiser Jet 1500 > Flyer 800 + 290 > Flyer 800 + 245 > Flow series (if you want maximum maneuverability. If you are like me, you will most likely never need more than what the Flyer 800 has to offer, it’s is a phenomenal wing!!
It’s always going to be board depends on your weight and wings wings wings wings. It’s all about the wings.
    Great stuff Coach!!!

My boyyyyyyy Mate always to the rescue...great point...you are 100% correct bud...size of the board does not determinate hoof a good rider you are....you can have fun in all of them and also have hard time in all of them....the question is what style of ride you want to have....the only thing I like to emphasize is that the Ultra is NOT the ideal beginner board for the beginner rider specially if he or she is above 220bls or 90kg

@@Coach_Rolando I agree 100% as a first time rider and being heavier, the Ultra will require lots of speed which is not fun or the safest if you are trying to figure out how it even works. If someone’s goal is to eventually get an ultra, save money with Fiberglass pro and then invest in your self and get the ultra after you are a confident rider. Your previous video demonstrates this perfectly 👌

Learning curve is quite fast. I got the Pro and after 10 hours I got the Ultra. The Ultra is a good challenge, especially in waves!

It really all depends on every individual and it’s skills.. I have all 3 boards, but started on the Pro… I love the ultra too but I find myself using mostly the Pro due its diversity in any water conditions

Ultra board is so much easier to travel with. It's difficult to travel by car with a Pro, let alone the larger one. Once on foil, the Ultra is not as affected by wind and is more responsive.
If you are of average athleticism or better, get an Ultra if you want 1 board and need to travel to/from the water.

All you are saying makes sense...however...for the beginner rider above 220lbs / 100kg should not get the ultra at all what so ever....again....as a beginner they are better off with the Flite or the pro for sure

Normally one purchases an introductory bike/ski/board/kayak and then moves up not only when one becomes more adept, but importantly when it becomes certain one likes the sport and wishes to continue. However efoils are incredibly expensive, so for me at least, it was (and is) going to be one and done.
I purchased the Flite Pro to start. It was an excellent choice (I weigh 150lb) and I'll never purchase another (unless this one fails). It's only 60" long, so easily goes in the back of almost any hatchback (even my Honda Fit).

Undoubtedly at 150lbs the Pro is the perfect board for you… and I agree with the high prices… I have the ultra and I only use once I a while cause the Pro is so much more “diverse”.
