Your playing is so beautiful! Had to subscribe:D I've been learning to play a tin-whistle and also got interested in Dizi, would like to try learn how to play it soon. Was actually thinking about Xiao at first but then I read somewhere that it's harder to play than Dizi, is this true?
Thank you! Xiao would probably be a little hard to get a sound going. But later on in terms of techniques and song difficulties playing Dizi can become harder.
@@heartsonchannel Thanks for the reply! Yes, being a classically trained pianist, I understand very well what you mean. But I want to try some new instruments for my own pleasure, for playing music that moves me, even though I know I may not become as good as I'd like to be. Anyways, been watching your videos for inspiration and also, will probably take some of the songs for my whistle repertoire:)
I play both xiao and Dizi (still beginner at both). I think the xiao is much easier to get a good tone from, and the sound is not as loud as the Dizi so I can practise it at home. I have to go to my music studio to practise dizi to not annoy my family haha.
The benefit of flutes are thet they are relativwly cheap so you can get both a xiao and a dizi. Good luck!!

sry I'm late to ask. but you play it one oktav up. or somthing. or is the xiao just that high pitched. mine is more of a bass one. "I think mine is a g major". its a 9 hole one.
Sorry I have no experience with 9 hole xiao. I use 8 hole ones.
