    I found the Xiao to be a mirror for the soul. Even when I don't realize that I'm upset or stressed, the Xiao will tell me. It's very therapeutic for someone like me who never stops to listen to myself. Sometimes it even feels like time has stopped when I'm playing.

    Thank you for your video. You speak English really well and understood all of which you said, which incidentally was the best Ziao tutorial I’ve seen on here :)
    The only issue I’m having is holding the flute comfortably with my right hand. Once I press down on the lower hikes I lose the flute sound

    你的英文很好!我教英文在Chinatown在我家鄉。我說給我學生 “practice makes perfect!“ I think the Chinese saying is something like “熟能生巧”。這是對嗎? 哈哈,你的英文比我中文更好!(I'm pretty sure that last sentence was wrong; I was trying to say that your English is better than my Chinese)

    One big question I have about the Xiao as a flute maker is this: Why do so many Xiaos have so much extra length at their bottom end? I don't believe that this extra length actually forms a functional part of the air column in a musical or fingering sense. And it sure doesn't help when you're trying to pack a Xiao into a suitcase! So why is there all this extra length? I have been seeking an answer to this question, but so far, I have not been able to obtain one. If you would kindly answer this, or shed light on it, I would be most grateful.

  • @pageeric3125
    @pageeric3125 Před 7 lety +1

    Getting a sound from the xiao is not a problem for me. The problem is that fingering any holes begins to make the sound go away. After a few holes, the sound goes away. It's like a clogged trumpet. I assume I am doing something wrong, since I have tried this scores of times over the past few months. Can anyone help? Thank you : )
