    vw newbeetle, fiat 500, smart, chevrolet matiz, those are really girly cars. 206 is like a normal car a little bit more in touch with its feminine side, but not flat out girly. Most people i see driving it here in athens greece are dudes.

    I’d argue that the paint work issues are the manufacturers fault rather than owners - Citroen/Peugeot vehicles of a similar age often seem to suffer with clear coat/lacquer peel and it seems aggravated by pressure washing. My 55 plate red berlingo was a show queen for this.

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  Před 2 lety +2

      Pressure washing, automated car washers and no wax = lacquer peel. Happens on all cars of that era that aren't cared for ...not just Pugs!

    • @carig121
      @carig121 Před 2 lety +2

      Right it has been a mystery for me for a long time, then i heard about safety regulations in the 90's that modified drastically the paint composition and its durability, it's very common to see some 15 to 20 yo cars with the clear coat completely gone. There was the same problem with electronics when the 2002 RoHS ( European directive) banned some materials like lead on welds making them less reliable.

    All good points that put me off replacing my 106 with a 206. I would add thick front pillars and short suspension travel. The 203 204 & 205 were known for comfortable suspension, so the 206 suspension was disappointing.

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  Před 2 lety +2

      I dont think the 206 was BAD for suspension, the non sporty ones are super comfy... but they compromised... the 203/204 handled so badly! 205 was a bit better... but I dont think PSA did a BAD job considering the 206 weighed a LOT more than the 205...and was far safer too because of it

    I own a 206 sw and the paintwork is beautiful, no issues asides from a few scratches, ac works wonders, very comfortable, got mine for 1200 and it was very well looked after, 2006 206 sw does also have electric windows and fog lights, must be driving a crappy not looked after 206

    Probably paintwork and rear axle are common problem in uk, i live in italy and my 206 from 2003 and around 190k kilometers (120k miles) has no problem in the rear axle, ac works from 2003 super nice and really cool, the paint is perfect, has no peeling at all. BUT i agree with low spec and, as my point of view, i like the rough feeling of the car, with little to no sound dampening from the outside, it makes kinda enjoyable for a ride, but it's all personal, i agree with it. I drive a couple thousand miles a week in my 1.4 hdi, it's not comfy, but my Fiat Panda was so much worse. My AC needs regassing, my chassis is rusting and the turning circle is horrendous. The car is so loud in the motorway, and I've added soundproofing to it. It's a love hate relationship with my car, but it's my car, and I've driven so much worse. I'll be retiring mine this year to my younger brother or 4x4 project (not decided yet), but I'll tell you this: its my second 206, and boy I'm jealous of then Iranian models, in fact I almost bought one and drove it back but lock down happened. However, it's my car, and having a great connection to a car matters and nothing else. Heck, my favourite car is the seicento and they're lacking more than the 206. I raced in the 206GTI series with the Track Attack Club. We ran coil-overs on the front with Gaz Golds on the rear and used NS-2R tyres and they weren't too bad. I also raced a 306GTI and should never have sold it. It was a great handling car once it had modified suspension on it with upper and lower chassis braces to the front end. As a 206 owner, here is my answer (cannot make it shorter, sorry):
    1. Yeah, the paint was probably manufacturer's fault. My engine hood is pealing badly and above front and rear wheels paint is peeling completely to metal. At least it won't rust although the tires threw plenty of salt that is used on road during winter. I have to repaint it almost completely, but I am not sure if the issue will happen again. Worst thing is that I have seen many 206s and I am the only one that faces problems with paint.
    2. Well, not all of 206s are ugly, especially facelift models. Mine was ugly when it had older bumper that was used since 1998 (it was even seen on facelift that had no fog lights). Weirdly, mine has plenty of hidden options like an option with electric mirrors and front fog lights. Found an RC front bumper and it looks beautiful. And yeah, SW is ugly as hell.
    3. To be honest, I have the AC in my 206. I have just tested it if it works and, surprisingly, it does. Although I never use it. I just open window and issue is solved.
    4. My 206 is really comfortable. The only issue is the legroom between the rear and front seats. The space is really small, but at least, both front and rear seats are very comfortable.
    5. Well, speaking of driver position, I found nothing bad, probably due to my model that is with LHD. And yeah, don't wear big shoes or you may accidentally press brake and gas at the same moment.
    6. Well, my 206 understeer a few times. Surprisingly, it never oversteered, not sure how, but I can sometimes feel one of the rear tires coming off the ground sometimes when I try to avoid a car, yikes 😬. I hope that I don't end bad.
    7. Yeah, it is mostly for girls, but even mens like it. To be honest, I like it as well, that's why i bought it.
    8. Well, it's true. It was once hit on front right fender, then on a rear right panel underneath the tail light. It was damaged with the previous owner. To be honest, I wouldn't buy it at all, but since I know about the car body repairing and plenty of things, I bought it.
    9. I had that issue, the rear right wheel went curvy and was scraping inside. Found the used one from SW, but I felt bad for not keeping the strut bars with it. At least, it's better. Everyone will say that the rear axles are really bad. I can confirm it as well. Repairs here is more expensive than the used rear axle, which is even bad.
    10. Well, I have nothing bad here as well. My 206 has auto headlights, AC, 4x airbag (some 206s didn't had passenger airbag and front fog lights. I have a plan to add electric mirrors since I found the installation and will add the cruise control. Hope it ends great.

    I agree on the lack of spec, inside. It’s almost like the bigwigs at PooJoe tried to get away with the minimum amount of ‘toys’ possible.
    Ours was bought secondhand, from a dealer, only 18 months old and yes, the AirCon was NOT WORKING! That can’t be down to lazy/bad ownership, more like crap manufacturing!
    Ours is still a reliable little workhorse though, being a 1.9 diesel, and serves as a useful backup to our gas-guzzling Jeep!
    Yes the styling is a bit bland, but it’s typical of those Euroboxes, probably designed using a spreadsheet on a Friday afternoon, just before heading off to the local Bistro!

      The '06 range was a total redesign! Especially the 306 which had very little at all in common with the 309. .
      So comparing it to the 207/307, I can't agree with I'm afraid. Totally different design/generation.
      There was a 5 year overlap with the 106/306 and the 206. Admittedly it did bridge the gap between the '06s and '07s but the 206 had very little in common at all with the 207, other than a couple of engines.
