Russian is a hell of a lot easier than most in this list. Learning it gives you a leg up on other Slavic languages (though not all)

@@waso778 Foreigners thinking that they "know" Russian usually do not use cases, genders and verb aspects. If we seem to understand your Russian speaking in some cases, it doesn't mean that you speak grammatically correct. Russian has three genders and 6 cases for any noun, applying it to verbs you'll recieve at least 40+ forms of every of them. I don't even mention participle and gerund. And tens of suffixes, and free word order that reflects fine shadows of meanings. If you think Russian grammar is easy, you don't even close to knowing it.

People sometimes forget English is pretty tough to master. So many pronunciation rules; because it loaned so many words from different languages, it appears more of a word soup sometimes.
@@pedrodelavi8936 the good thing about sanskrit tho is there are very little grammatical exceptions (unlike english). The script is completely phonetic and uses a very handy abugida writing system.
It's particularly easy for hindi and telugu speaking people
@@themanofmarvels6573 True that. A lot of words (in fact 90% of the words for hindi speakers) are already in these languages. The only issue is lack of able conversationalists in the language. Doesnt allow it to develop beyond textbook knowledge
Yes, so many pronunciation rules in English, -and then loads of exceptions to these rules. Although my Scandinavian language is part of that soup: a more logical language would be better for international purposes when people learn a second language.

Seriously.
so you are implying everybody who speaks english speaks it as a mother tongue?
Every language is difficult or easy to learn with respect to another language. You have to draw the line somewhere.
It is explained in the beginning that the video takes it that you speak English already..the fact we watch videos targeted on native speakers does not mean we need to be acknowledged every second of it. now if you are russian-american or a chinese person who teaches english...and you see your language "up there" you will know who the video was made for. It is impossible to make a universal video of the hardest languages to learn, as this is vastly different depending what your first language is.
The word "video" is based in the latin word "video" which means "I'm seeing/watching".
Not on sanscrit
But it may be congnate with a Sanskrit because they are Indo-European, and also in in slavic languages it is "vidím" or similar. But I agree with you

In Arabic as in Korean, the subject is placed at the beginning of a sentence and before both the verb and the object. Also, not all sentences have to have a verb and for that Arabic does not have helping verbs. You can add a suffix to a verb to eliminate the subject as the verb and subject are written contented and pronounced as a single word. So, arabic so different not just in pronunciation but in grammar and structure.

If you want to appreciate the adventure of Thor and Loki in their original form then you better learn Islandic since it's quite closer to Old Norse than any other language I've mentionned...but as mentionned is alot harder to speak...probably why Marvel re-imagine the birth of Norse Mythology in Norway just in case they wanted to use "Asgardian" as they did in Loki (the actual reason I've started learning Norwegian as a hobby).
Korean is actually a really easy language so Idk why it's on this list. You include the alphabet as something hard but I learnt it in a day
and wth? Russian is #2 aka harder than Arabic? and why isn't Thai mentioned? it has one of the hardest if not the hardest written languages
+Boom Shabanga isn't Thai Sanskrit ? plz enlighten me
+Boom Shabanga I'm as surprised as you are tbh and Hangul is really easy to learn I don't understand why they mentioned it as a hard thing to learn really
yeah i learned hangul in like a half an hour it really surprised me to see it on the list

as someone who used to learn korean and japanese back when i was 10 or 11 (but dropped them because i got bored), it’s honestly not that difficult. it just takes effort and admiration of the language. i plan on learning russian soon (currently working on my german) and i assume that i won’t have a super tough time, although i’m not surprised that americans don’t want to put in any effort in doing something that doesn’t relate to them.
Thats exactly what the hard part is, effort. You need to be consistent for years if you want to have any hopes in succeeding when it comes to most language learning
As a Slavic person, I can say that out of all Slavic languages, russian is the easiest to learn
+1 my personal list is: 100. Russian, 3. Ukrainan, 2. Czech, 1. Polish
As a non Slavic person who has studied some of the Slavic languages, I agree with you :-D
@@kuromibunnii7309 I study quite a few Slavic languages and Russian is by far the easiest. Even if I didn’t study them, all Slavic people know that Russian is the easiest

Good luck!!! I'm learning Korean, Portuguese, and Danish haha
@@katla640 Thanks!! Good luck to you too! I love Portuguese, I've studied it for a while, but I've set it aside for sometime to focus on other stuff. I've always wondered how Danish is like, though. I've never even heard the language! How is it like??
@@violence8550 Well Danish is quite hard to pronounce. Since I speak Icelandic it's very easy for me to learn. So I mostly just need to practice on pronouncing the words right. The grammar is luckily not to hard but it has letters like ø, å, and æ.
@@katla640 Oh, I see. Yeah, the pronunciation of any Slavic language is kind of hard for a Valkanian like me, too. You speak Icelandic?? Sweet! It's an awesome language I hope I learn one day.
It’s funny how people only categorize Chinese into Mandarin and Cantonese and it’s a whole language family with other language groups besides those two.
Since Mandarin is the official dialect they teach in school, that's the only one you need to communicate throughout China. The other dialects are not necessary if you're a foreigner.
@@waynet8953 exactly, and they still added Cantonese to the list
Because after Mandarin, Cantonese is the second famous Chinese language in the world. And there're about 100 million Cantonese speakers in the world, that's why.
sanskrit and buddhism? uh..prakrit language was used during that time (research)..sanskrit is related to hinduism...and the script written on tht guy's neck is devanagri script (currently we used it in hindi) and that was jst english written in hindi nd that too wrong...
This video is stupid, because it should have shown language groups, since, for example, Russian is not the most difficult among slavic languages, Polish has more grammar rules and sounds, even though it uses Latin alphabet. Finnish and Hungarian are from finno-uralic branch and have next to identical difficulties in learning. BtW English is not even easy, It's THE easiest, It has almost no grammar and it is clear and strict and with next to no exceptions. Even Espanol has more to offer, at least they change their nouns and pronouns according to their gender affiliation. And Spanish is also easy.
And I don't get how Finnish and Hungarian got onto the list and Estonian not (Estonian is the hardest finno-uralic language(that has land))
English the easiest?
Google for the poem "The Chaos" and learn to pronounce that completely correct.
Happy learning!
It's written by a Dutchman by the way. :)
In my opinion Bulgarian is harder to learn than the other Slavic languages because of all of its rules and stuff. It's actually proven that Bulgarian is one of the hardest languages to learn completely.
+Varangian Guard come on, I was talking about classic spoken tongue, which has nothing to do with perverse, but, nevertheless brilliant tongue twisters.
Varangian Guard "The Chaos" is not that hard.
Korean itself may be difficult to learn but Hangul can be learned in as short as one hour
Josh Dormaier I learned how to read it in 15 minutes :)
True...
It looked intimidating at first, but I was surprised at how quickly I learned all the characters 😳
Is it really that easy? I've got a mad crush on this Korean girl and I am thinking to learn some Korean

Sanskrit is the most easy language to learn but difficult to master. Because it has the most depth and a lot of words that's why it is difficult to learn.
Clearly you guys haven't heard about Tamizh or Tamil...a southern Indian language as old or may be older than sanskrit...difficult, deep, practical and beautiful.
any language is hard for someone who speaks only english :/ 😂
English is one of the easiest language in the world!
ikr
It actually is one of the easiest if not THE easiest language to learn.
NOPE. One of the hardest if you dont learn it as your native language. The grammar rules are weird, we have a million punctuation marks and rules, and words can have the same spelling but different pronunciations (Polish, polish) or vice versa (red, read).
Krystle Leis That's only if you want to have perfect grammar and shit, and let me say to you, even if english is your native language, you will have some grammar errors... i speak spanish, japanese and english (now learning german) and even if i don't have a perfect grammar, i do speak them. now knowing that english took me 2 years to perfectly understeand english and be able to speak it, for japanese however japanese took me 4 years to understeand and speak it (even tho i can not write it at a very good level).
One more thing, english is the nº1 lenguage in the world...
English is one of the easier languages to learn in my opinion
Ps: Why wasn't Lithuanian at least in the honorable mentions??? It's a really hard language to learn, and you know how I know that? Because I speak English better than Lithuanian when I am Lithuanian and I go to a Lithuanian school...
My grandfather was from Lithuania :). His family moved to the U.S. when he was a child
Joe S cool, do you know any Lithuanian?
+The Umbrella Man I'm 12 and I lived in Lithuania my whole life. But the thing is that when I was a little boy, like 3-5 years old I watched BabyTV if you know what that is, then I watched Nicolodion (dunno how to spell it still) and then Cartoon Network...Then when I was 10 I started watching youtube, and I watched only english youtubers, plus I learned English in school...So yeah, I just picked up English like it's nothing, lol. I'm still not a professional English speaker, but I guess that's because I'm 12 and that I'm not American or British.
I'll learn a new language in 6th grade too. I picked German. I could of picket German or Russian so yeah.
(I think I did so much bad grammar)(Even here I thing is did bad grammar)(Evan now)

I'm speaking Hungarian because I'm from Hungary and yes english too and german a little bit and i want to learn japanese what is a very difficult language
If there is Russian, there should basically be every single Slavic language, because all are difficult and ALMOST the same. Russians, Polish, Czechs, Slovaks and Ukrainians understand each other quite well. Some better than other, but many many words are really the same.
South slavic languages are even more similar to eachother
well.. i am czech. and the only another slavic language that i understand is slovak
@@iakinose You mean Croatian, Serbian etc.? Well, it's not that hard to understand them either (I'm Slovak). Sometimes we understand almost everything :D
Weird. Well I guess it's individual. I was talking to Polish many times and we somehow understood some words. Of course, not a 100%, but at least we knew what we were talking about...
Slovak. Said it in my previous comment... But not to be confused, we didn't understand EVERYTHING - it's not the same, but many words and grammar are almost the same.
russian slovak polish czech any slavic languages will be hard to learn for english speakers
and Bulgarian. A real nightmare for any of my foreign friends, even some of them speak another Slavic languages.

Korean is actually really easy. Learning the characters are super easy compared to other languages. Chinese tho is no doubt 100% one of the hardest languages. Period.

yeah korean seems easy, my sister can speak it just from k-drama lol
The way people speak in dramas is nowhere near the way it is spoken here in Korea.
@matthewmeinema This is so freaking true. I live in Korea and I can understand when people are speaking in person but if I watch a drama, it's so difficult to understand what they're saying.
