I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it's funny because foreign aid in developing nations almost never goes to the people at the bottom; the rich dudes at the top take all of it. It's just a weird scam so white people can feel like they're doing God's work and the warlords get free money.
If you really want to help a developing nation, you need to bring them into the 1st World schools, educate them, then send them back. Education is the most destabilizing thing in the world. When people are educated, they earn more. When they earn more, they demand more of a say in their government. Then, there is a revolution and they win or they lose. Most of the time, they'll lose, but military juntas never last forever because they're forced to choose between having an undeveloped economy and a poorly funded military, or having a developed economy and people who would prefer to see them not in power. All it takes is a little push, from there. Yeah, a lot of people will die, but there's at least a chance it can get better. Die fast instead of suffocate slow.

The most subtle, but funny, part of this is the very beginning. 1993 Buffalo Bulls Super Bowl Champion shirt. They print both versions of the shirts even though only one team wins. The losing team's shirts gets shipped to poor countries. Buffalo lost to the Cowboys 52-17. You see it about the 12 second mark. Hilarious.

in new york, there is these little carts, with legit just mr coffee machine and they sell small coffee and tons of donuts they bought, the cup is like 12oz of coffee. its 50c for the coffee, you have to cream it yourself, and then the donuts are $2. these little carts somehow make as much as $120,000 a year, just because mass people stop for the coffee and donuts. being way cheaper than starbucks also probably helps. the quality wasn't amazing, but it certainly was the best 50c coffee i've ever had in my life, I've had worse coffee from starbucks tbh. I talked to the guy about it once, he breaks nearly even on the coffee, but makes all the money back in donuts. also I get your point, but he says 'less than a cup of coffee', he says less. even if it was a starbucks coffee, the point would be the same, for the price of 'a coffee' you can save a life.

Besides the fact that this is a perfectly written skit and amazingly performed, the big thing that sticks out to me is there a four people of color in it. I remember watching Saturday night live when it first came out and Garrett Morris was the only person of color on the show.
He was replaced by Eddie Murphy and then usually you only had one person of color on the show for years.
