They fix a big problem from overwatch were lots of people want to be DPS. Every Hero here has long range attacks, dodges and double jump it seems. Aside from that, the Items are the game changer here. So even if Hero skills are basic,mundance, etc. Maybe the items can add additional effects with them.
Exactly like with some sprinkle of tf2 in the mix with the high movility fps, items will be the game changer and it will make atleast each hero can have a different playstyle

I was SURE this is just going to be another hero shooter until they go over the item shop. This made me remember DOTA more than Overwatch or SMITE even. In fact I think this is just Dota in third person. The game looks promising, though hopefully Valve learned their lesson and not make this an Artifact 2 :^)

Playing devil's advocate here. People really like to forget Valve's reputation, this game is going to fall into bot hell the moment it releases. If they can't figure it out for CS2 or TF2, they aren't going to figure it out for this game either. They'll just add loot boxes and a battle pass like they did for Dota 2, get their money's worth, and let it decay like all of their other games.

A lot of people who are talking shit and comparing this game to Overflop only looked at the visuals and the hero shooter concept. In reality Deadlock is much more than that. Also, Overwatch wouldn't exist without TF2, so it all comes back to Valve anyways.

Thing is, if you played Overwatch,Smite or Paragon. Youll clearly see why this Game is Different. 1. Overwatch - Lets face it, with that fast pace. Everyone wants to be DPS. Having Be support and focus healing your ally while they stupidly die and blame you is infuriating. Deadlock, basically every hero is dps, its up to your item builds to change it. 2. SMITE/Paragon - You see enemy in the distance but all your abilities and attacks only reach a few meters away from you. Its more RPG Moba than Action shooter. Problem is, skills are kind of meh right now. Feels like its just placeholders for now. Knowing icefrog, They probably have more unique ideas than this.

I think you can do a combo with the second character where you pull in your enemy, plant a bomb on them, uppercut the enemy away and then shoot the enemy to finish him off.
You can clearly see that these designers are not the ones who worked in tf2. Traps that inmovilize the player, specials where the enemies cant move and sleeping pistols? Theres a reason they changed the dart gun for spy or why they reworked the sandman. Taking the control out of the player shouldn't be considered a good design. Kind of ironic that when overwatch did this there where videos of why valve found a solution to this now to see they fell to the same pit

TF2 doesn't have anything in its gameplay that requires crowd control. This game does, it's as simple as that. This game is not TF2, nor is it meant to be similar to it at all. It's more similar to the likes of Paladins or Overwatch, and you do need crowd control in those games.
TF2 is an FPS game primarily. This game leans more towards something like SMITE clearly. I don't think the existence of CC is unnecessary, quite the opposite really.

It's just valve and their character design philosophy. If you see the silhouette of their characters from litteraly any game, you'd easily recognize which or who it is. They also don't go cheap with the bulging breasts and plastic pants on the ass that often.

Damn I love these character designs and their animations. They have a lot a fun ideas outside of the gameplay that look quite refreshing even though some of them need a bit of polishing. The map showcased look a bit bland still but I guess they're gonna work on that too. If the gameplay is fun, I'm totally gonna play this
I think it's a brilliant idea that each character is distinct and adds variation, and I appreciate that they didn't go for the cheapest way to attract players' attention by making them all excessive; there's plenty of room for fine-tuning and adjustment, as this is still in beta.
Youknow I think people are overeacting about this. Does it suck that TF2, Counterstrike 2, Portal 3, and Half life 3 are basically abandoned? Yes I still haven't forgiven Valve for that. But man Im just happy Valve is making videogames again! Plus this at least looks unique, can't be too bad right?
Im starting to think people dont know what a hero shooter is. Or the subgenres. Valorant and Overwatch are completely sifferent games. The only similarities being that they both play in the first person and have named characters you play as. The actual gameplay and structure of... everything besides that is different. They exist in two separate niches that are miles apart.
I find funny that valve is always looking for some type of innovation, yet never is willing to make sequels from other games she had develop, but instead is willing to develop this. Don't get me wrong, don't think the game looks bad, just sad to think that other IP could already afford of sequels, still better to believe there just was a good reason for they not exist, while also there is no good reason why TF2 is completely abandoned (which by the way could have the game build in their new engine on which own valve did stop people from doing that) As for every game, wish the best for deadlock, as for valve finally give the attention TF2 deserves
I think that's the most damning thing. TF2 is still making them basically free money, yet they can't even be bothered to do basic maintenance to keep the game playable. Finding out that, all this time, they've been working on something else, adds salt to the wound. They could probably spare one or two people to fix TF2 overnight, but oh well... Their current company structure encourages people to work on trend chase-y ideas very very slowly, so we get a competitor to Heartstone and now Overwatch about a decade after the ship has sailed. That all said, with the current state of the AAA entertainment industry, Valve ends up looking like one of the better ones. Excited for the game! Hope it does well. RIP TF2.

I'm all for video game companies making, y'know... video games, but the fact that they're making another game instead of fixing two games with thousands of cheaters is sad to me. Both TF2 and CS2 have tons of fans that love to play them both, but the current state of both games is pathetic, especially TF2. It's like being a home owner and choosing to not upkeep your house. Over time it becomes dirty and wridden with mold, and filth. Instead of cleaning the house and taking care of it, you just purchase another one. Only for the exact same process to repeat itself. This isn't ignorance. It's negligence. They're aware of the cheater problem. If Valve doesn't know how to fix the problem, or just can't for some reason they should let us know. The characters feel like they are from a Cthulhu-esk world like Fallen London but futuristic. Which is really cool. Then I show a friend and he said the characters look boring and bland..

For a hero shooter this is the first one that has the most interesting character concepts. OW was cool at the time, but it's still fairly simplistic. But these character designs are just another level entirely from anything else. Wait nah and they have a item shop?
If they want this game to succeed, they better get their shit together and fix their reputaion first by fixing thier bot problems, cus' if they can't fix the problems of an old game, what makes them think everyone will just want the game. Yamato’s VA’s pronunciation is overall alright, but if you’re familiar with how spoken Japanese sounds you can tell that the accent is a little off. Does not sound like a native speaker to me, or the VA might have grown up in a mixed Japanese and English environment. I am not a linguist so I can’t describe what feels off, and I myself am not a native Japanese speaker so if there is anybody here who by chance happens to know proper Japanese I’d like your opinion on the pronunciation.
The Japanese is fine. There is an accent, but it is not bad Japanese. Syllables are very enunciated in a way that feels more like Japanese spoken by a non-native speaker. It's just a little stiff and different from the usual delivery heard by seiyuu who voice characters in Japanese media.
Supposedly this is based on an idea that was cancelled when Arkane parts ways with Valve back in the day when Dishonored (which took some inspiration from Half Life 2) was just a teaser.

I was sceptical of the game as I thought it looked bad but after seeing the gameplay I think it looks pretty amazing I'm just hoping nothing bad will happen to Team Fortress 2

17:12 I once tried to come up with a better ulti for Symmetra (instead of a sorry excuse of a game design she has right now) and this is EXACTLY what I envisioned for her hard light tech implementation. I though it would be to hard to make into an actual gameplay. Not too hard for Valve, though
She even helps making buildings for a living, she should have had this whole construction aspect to her kit that she never had.
Obviously early-alpha, but I hope the GUI has some more stylistic love when it's closer to being finalised.

My only complaint is some huge UI elements that should be smaller. This is a Moba third person shooter and during action it'll get cluttered.

Damn I love these character designs and their animations. They have a lot a fun ideas outside of the gameplay that look quite refreshing even though some of them need a bit of polishing. The map showcased look a bit bland still but I guess they're gonna work on that too. If the gameplay is fun, I'm totally gonna play this

I think it's a brilliant idea that each character is distinct and adds variation, and I appreciate that they didn't go for the cheapest way to attract players' attention by making them all excessive; there's plenty of room for fine-tuning and adjustment, as this is still in beta.
Youknow I think people are overeacting about this. Does it suck that TF2, Counterstrike 2, Portal 3, and Half life 3 are basically abandoned? Yes I still haven't forgiven Valve for that. But man Im just happy Valve is making videogames again! Plus this at least looks unique, can't be too bad right?

Im starting to think people dont know what a hero shooter is. Or the subgenres. Valorant and Overwatch are completely sifferent games. The only similarities being that they both play in the first person and have named characters you play as. The actual gameplay and structure of... everything besides that is different. They exist in two separate niches that are miles apart.
It's got shooting heroes that have their own set of skills, this literally is a hero shooter x moba, why pretend anything else
I find funny that valve is always looking for some type of innovation, yet never is willing to make sequels from other games she had develop, but instead is willing to develop this.
Don't get me wrong, don't think the game looks bad, just sad to think that other IP could already afford of sequels, still better to believe there just was a good reason for they not exist, while also there is no good reason why TF2 is completely abandoned (which by the way could have the game build in their new engine on which own valve did stop people from doing that)
As for every game, wish the best for deadlock, as for valve finally give the attention TF2 deserves
I think that's the most damning thing. TF2 is still making them basically free money, yet they can't even be bothered to do basic maintenance to keep the game playable. Finding out that, all this time, they've been working on something else, adds salt to the wound. They could probably spare one or two people to fix TF2 overnight, but oh well... Their current company structure encourages people to work on trend chase-y ideas very very slowly, so we get a competitor to Heartstone and now Overwatch about a decade after the ship has sailed.
That all said, with the current state of the AAA entertainment industry, Valve ends up looking like one of the better ones. Excited for the game! Hope it does well. RIP TF2.

@@kenneth7239 nah a year or two is a lot maybe a year but I bet they are planning to release sooner than later. The game has also only been being worked on for 2 years and there was a complete redesign 6 months ago. My guess is they will release in fall.

This looks great, visuals are good, UI is pretty clear, character design is fun. Hope they clean up the data overload. There's too much on screen at once, everything is little and detailed.

As an Overwatch player who used to play League of Legends and TF2, I’m very excited for this new “MOBA Shooter” that’s made by a triple AAA company

So, instead of dealing with the cheater problem in both TF2 and CS2, Valve decides instead to make a generic looking hero based FPS? Great! I'm all for video game companies making, y'know... video games, but the fact that they're making another game instead of fixing two games with thousands of cheaters is sad to me. Both TF2 and CS2 have tons of fans that love to play them both, but the current state of both games is pathetic, especially TF2. It's like being a home owner and choosing to not upkeep your house. Over time it becomes dirty and wridden with mold, and filth. Instead of cleaning the house and taking care of it, you just purchase another one. Only for the exact same process to repeat itself. This isn't ignorance. It's negligence. They're aware of the cheater problem. If Valve doesn't know how to fix the problem, or just can't for some reason they should let us know. But this whole "Treadmill Work", thing just isn't cutting it. Thanks, Valve, for becoming yet another negligent, complacent video game company.
And how exactly would they fix it? Valve bans cheaters constantly and cheating tech evolves faster than valve adjust their anticheat. I guess they can't develop new games because their legacy is suffering natural decline.
Valve please give us something fun, show us that you can have fun in a hero shooter unlike OW.

The characters feel like they are from a Cthulhu-esk world like Fallen London but futuristic. Which is really cool. Then I show a friend and he said the characters look boring and bland..
Not many people realize how good this game is. You need to play it, and check out movement. This game is gonna be Valorant/Overwatch/Smite 2 killer, easily.
For a hero shooter this is the first one that has the most interesting character concepts. OW was cool at the time, but it's still fairly simplistic.
But these character designs are just another level entirely from anything else.

Yamato’s VA’s pronunciation is overall alright, but if you’re familiar with how spoken Japanese sounds you can tell that the accent is a little off. Does not sound like a native speaker to me, or the VA might have grown up in a mixed Japanese and English environment. I am not a linguist so I can’t describe what feels off, and I myself am not a native Japanese speaker so if there is anybody here who by chance happens to know proper Japanese I’d like your opinion on the pronunciation.
The Japanese is fine. There is an accent, but it is not bad Japanese. Syllables are very enunciated in a way that feels more like Japanese spoken by a non-native speaker. It's just a little stiff and different from the usual delivery heard by seiyuu who voice characters in Japanese media.

Supposedly this is based on an idea that was cancelled when Arkane parts ways with Valve back in the day when Dishonored (which took some inspiration from Half Life 2) was just a teaser.
