    The fact it's all in pieces and many things can be replaced without the whole board I would give a good 5 or 6, just because it's complicated just means you have to be careful.
    The whole time I was thinking where can I shove a head phone jack or a note pen.
    Still thinking. 🤔

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +6

      True but complication is where most of the time a repair job can go downhill since the more complicated it is, the more of a chance people can damage something or not be able to do it themselves. Usually people look at the repairability scores to see if its easy to be able to repair the device themselves if needed rather than how many parts are replaceable. But yep again depends on each persons view.

    Hi. Thanks for this very detailed teardown video. One question though. I found a video explaining to be careful in using cases with adhesives, particularly on the 5g antenna cover located on the rear side near the main cameras (in this video; time stamp 6:30)
    But based on the unboxing of other youtubers, their model doesn't have that cover despite being 5G. If this cover is missing, does that mean 5G reception is weaker on models without that plastic cover?
    Thanks.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety

      Hi, im not sure what plastic cover you mean. If you are referring to the mmWave 5G antenna itself, not every model will have the mmWave 5G. There are different 5G networks, most use sub 6Ghz 5G which does not use the mmWave 5G antenna so it wont have it. Still has 5G just a different technology 5G antenna. Hope this explains it.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před rokem

      hmm not sure, you can use a soft brush like tooth brush or something but if its in areas you can't get too, you would probably have to take the entire thing apart to get to the hinges which also poses a chance of damaging or braking the folding screen when prying it off. Also when putting the screen back on, you would need to re install the original adhesive cutouts made for it, to keep it in place so when folding it doesn't crack down the middle.

    If I do the diagnostics it tells me that there is a problem with the flex sensor.
    Since it's out of warranty I thought I'd fix it myself.
    In your opinion which part should be replaced?
    Thank you

      Thank you. Hmm not too sure what would be causing it. I would assume it's not detecting the flip being opened but not sure exactly what you would need to look at to fix the problem.

    Do you think the under display camera could be upgraded with a different module? Obviously you'd need drivers and the right pinout, but maybe it could be replaced?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 3 lety

      Maybe. If the connector is the same and fits in the allocated spot, might work but not sure about any software issues.

    • @mikel4879

      Chris S / No, because the camera software optimizer is written specifically for that kind of camera with its own pixel logistic arrangement.
      Only a very high knowledgeable specialist can do the change where it should also change the specific camera software.
      Since you can very well use the advanced outer camera for selfies, you don't absolutely need to "modify" ( which is very expensive ) the less quality interior screen one.
      And the interior camera will get software improvements in time from Samsung, that will give it better and better visual qualities.

      @PBKreviews  Před 3 lety +2

      I haven't really noticed a difference, I would probably need to have both side by side to see if there was really much of a difference. But it is a different style motor for sure.

    Do you (or any other viewer) have an idea how to replace the camera glass? There doesn't see to be any replacement parts available and I really don't want to send it to Samsung since the camera works fine, it's just the glass above the lens that's broken ...

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      The camera glass is held on with adhesive, so you can heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun n pry the glass cover off but as far as replacements go, not sure when they will become available.

    I am fixing my loose power/fingerprint button... but it's not totally removed just like in Flip. Can you show me ?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Once you take the backplate off, there are those two Philips screws holding down the metal cover which covers the rubber gasket in the slot leading to the fingerprint reader. Once those screws and cover are removed, you need to use a thin small tool to carefully pull out that rubber gasket which is attached to the flex cable for the fingerprint reader/power button and it will come out of its place, but its somewhat tricky getting it back in. You will need to play around with it a bit to alight it correctly etc. I don't have the phone with me anymore to do a video on it.

    • @PBKreviews

      Not sure which one is for wifi, but I don't think a screen replacement would be the issue. I would think it would be motherboard related with the wifi chip itself.

    • @PBKreviews

      It is, but the entire phone would need to be disassembled and it wouldn't be worth doing it risking damaging the fold screen etc, would be best to send it in to samsung to replace for you.

    Alot of people are wondering if the Dual and eSIM disabled US version internally actually has the dual sim reader hardware? People are hoping they could just buy a dual sim tray and flash European firmware to get dual sim working can you possibly confirm this info please ?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, I didnt pay too close attention to that during the teardown but looking at the video the sim reader looks to be a dual sim reader on this US version I took apart. Its the same type of sim reader like the ones in the S21 series which were dual but the additional sim reader pins on the opposite side were disabled from software. Its still possible that on this phone it may not be disabled and using a dual sim tray may work without software change but most likely you will also need to flash a dual sim enabled software to the phone as well.
