Daily reminder that the only reason why the entire Monogatari series happened was because Araragi was horny
The only reason anything happened is because at least one person got horny
@@HerMi.T he was only where he was in that scene because he went to buy a porno mag.
I wonder would kiss shot have been killed if not for Araragi?
The direction in Kizumonogatari is legendary. They feel more like Hollywood blockbuster movies than anime. This scene was quite weird and shocking on first watch, before knowing what happens and why it happens.
Didn't you watch Bake before Kizu?
@@pistaalkohol of course I watched it before Kizu, but in Bake he walks outside in the sunlight like it's nothing
it definitely doesn’t feel like a hollywood blockbuster, that wouldn’t mean it’s good. I find it more alike a french new wave movie
Then it immediately cuts to Hanekawa's pantsu in the next scene. Classic Monogatari
That's what keeps me from getting into Monogatari.
@@juanblanco7898 Why?
@@Tunkkis While this kind of "fanservice" generally just annoys me, in case of Monogatari it somehow manages to deeply hurt me on emotional level.
In fact I instantly become immensely butthurt just thinking about this show.
@@juanblanco7898 That doesnt sound very normal or healthy, I hope you get that sorted out.
@@Tunkkis Yeah, it's not healthy indeed. Hopefully a day comes when I'll be able to cope with these issues better. Thank you!
Monogatori in general is a really brilliant take on the old monster girl harem genre of anime
The way it visually presents information being the best part
One other thing that I think is key to this scene: the Japanese flag. This makes the sun not just a thing in the sky, but also representative of Japan, and, importantly, people. The sun isn't the only thing Araragi wants and needs. He needs people.
Smort
Also… sunrise land!
*AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!*
Kizumonogatari is one of those movies that comes in a lifetime... Well, the Monogatari series is one of those one in a lifetime adaptations
just a side note, but I'm pretty sure that building is the cram school the rest of the movies take place in, not a mall, since after we're later given context for everything going on in this scene, we cut from Araragi starting to wander the cram school to the aftermath of this scene.
I can see where you'd miss that though, the design of the cram school itself (specifically the interior) is super inconsistent and almost liminal over the course of Kizu, unlike the rest of Monogatari where it's pretty much the same all the time. Although maybe it's not inconsistent so much as we're just seeing different parts of it, and that liminality is continuously induced in different ways by never having us inhabit the same part of it twice over the course of the trilogy, since this arc in Monogatari is a massive point of transition in Koyomi's life, and so depicting the cram school in such a way to elicit that sense of transition via liminal space is a pretty smart visual flare.
I got the softest spot for Monogatari. Yes, is not perfect, but man... I'm willing to forgive its flaws, both the novels and the anime are a masterpiece to me. The way it portraits it's characters, their struggles, the brilliancy of the dialog, I hold them all dear to me.
And all Kizu movies are my favorites I cannot say which one I liked best, SHAFT's style is just too strong.
What are some of the flaws that you think brings it down? except the fanservice of course.
@@Aswar211 i think that if they were 2 longer movies instead of a trilogy the pacing would have been better.
@@Aswar211 the fan service involving some characters in the series, but after a while it all blends into the background and I don't mind as much, despite it, I still think the series is a masterpiece
i think those fansevice are soul of monogatari and i don't think they are bad. monogatari has fantastic story, fantastic characters and fantastic lewd fanservice thing encapstulating araragi's horniness and awkwardness.
@@Aswar211 What do you mean "except for"?
When Araragi's hand catches on fire, the fear in his eyes, the silence, that pause right before his whole body goes up into flames. It gives me chills.
The beginning of the movie like many older movies summarizes the film. Araragi struggling to become human again despite it being painful. You dark clouds are comforting, hiding the sun but he goes up to face it head on but he doesn’t succeed. Someone had to help him. He couldn’t do it alone. I believe crows or ravens I forget, mean rebirth or something. But it’s all symbolic; go back to being a normie or stay in wonderland of misery - either way there’s pain
Lowart + Monogatari = Yay :)
Yoooo my boi talking about my favorite series let's go!
Oh shit. Were gonna need a full review of these movies at this rate. Love your recent output of content.
This movie was so fucking well animated. It literally had no business being this beautifully animated but it said fuck you and did it anyway.
Because Monogatari is brilliant.
oh hell yeah he talking about monogatari
Love me some Monogatari
I have been wanting you to do Monogatari videos since I started watching your channel with your Full metal series I really really hope to see more Monogatari video ❤️
Love to see KizumonoGOATari on my tl
Please make more monogatari content, would love to hear your thoughts on it
Mono vid uploaded in 2022 , nice!
Wow the direction and animation is incredible, I never really thought of watching this but now I want t watch it.
The building is not a mall, it is the abandoned cram school. Yeah, sure. Doesn't look like the one in the show, but what is consistency anyway?
I thought you were talking about the panty scene with Hanekawa since that's the first thing that happens in the novel. I forgot the first scene was different in the movie.
YOOOO MONOGATARI CONTENT LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Would love for Monogatari content!
Am I crazy or is that german at 2:57 (More Light! / Mehr Licht!)?
Yes it is German
It's funny you say its a mall because that really is what it looks like, but, it's canonically supposed to be a decrepit, abandoned school.
genius
KINO
Ok.

So I watched these three movies, and I'll probably watch the rest of the series... But ehm... I have the slight feeling I now better understand the bad name weebs often get. Though I'm not any better at this point.
Yeah the whole series has some... weird moments to say the least. Makes it really hard to recommend it to anyone, and it's honestly part of why I haven't even covered the series much. I honestly think the movies are tame compared to the show, and the movies have plenty of weird stuff lol
Never been interested in Monogatari ever but hmmmmm
I love the entire Monogatari franchise, but man, the Kizu movies are just some of the highest quality stuff the medium has to offer. The series as a whole is honestly one of my favorite.
It's a shame the author was so dang horny, though. Because, while the fan service doesn't bother me, it's unfortunately stopped me from ever recommending an otherwise amazing series to people I know IRL. I'd love to sit and watch is with my friends, but I'm sure I'd risk banishment the moment Mayoi pops up on screen lmao.
Fr, fr. I hate that there's so much fanservice in Monogatari and it's so well done too. I just get unbearably butthurt from that stuff, just absolutely assblasted. It's like almost physically painful for me to watch, so I never actually got into it no matter how I wanted to due to admiring everything else so much.
I have a similar problem with KonoSuba, although for a slightly different reason.
Truly a sad existence.
@@juanblanco7898 That's a shame. Konosuba is one of the best comedy anime of all time imo
Ain’t this the anime where the protag brushes his lil sister teeth and it weirdly sexual? 🤨🤨🤨
Why Monogatari's child grooming scene is brilliant... Wait which one?
I wish that absolute trash wasn't in the show - fortunately I don't think any of that garbage is in the movies?
@@Lowart pretty sure there isnt. closest thing is the hanekawa stuff.
also fuck nise.
I think the stuff between Koyomi and his sisters and Nadeko is all purely fun and games. From what I've seen, the story is pretty consistent with Koyomi only being actually interested in and loyal to Hitagi, even Nadeko is aware that he's entirely out of her reach. Mayoi and Shinobu aren't children or even human, but again their interactions with Koyomi can be chalked up to that just being how they play together and show non-romantic affection. I still wouldn't watch this with my family or coworkers for obvious reasons, but I don't think there's anything actually wrong going on here with the way the story presents it.
@@faceless2302 doesnt make it not gross lol. I understand the narrative purpose of the scenes, and parts where its just teasing, but it doesn't suddenly excuse them for existing. Like dude we dont need araragi to brush karen's teeth for minutes straight with both of them getting off on it. Theres a ton of ways to tone them down while keeping the same "spirit", but sadly its just a cultural norm over there that cant really be changed.
@@capnbugit's not a cultural norm, they're just appealing to degenerates, which have turned into a norm. You'll still be seen as a weirdo by normal Japanese citizens if you're a weeb and are into body pillows and that fetish hentai stuff. But it's both the unbearable work culture and how overly puritan they are that caused the degeneracy to spawn in the first place.
ah yes Kizumonogatari. probably one of the worst movies i saw in japan... with no subs lol. looked good tho
>monogatari series
Yeah, no, I'm not a pedophile
