@Xray Heartland That's actually not quiet true. Stanne was the Guitarist for DT and helped In Flames out as a Vocalist, he was never a "full" member of the Band.

This may sound weird, but seeing him in this new band made me so happy for him. The resistance didn’t work out, In Flames went in a path he wasn’t able to pretend to like anymore but he found himself in this and this I feel is what he was longing for. I’m happy for the guy

I am 39.
I did not get into In Flames circa 92ish/93 cause well.. I was 9 or 10, depending on when thier first album came out. Nor was I a fan of DT. (Obviously)
I went through my Nu-Metal phase in 97-02, and was given a couple of compilation cds back then as well. One of which featured Only For the Weak.
Hooked. Immediately. So I went though the discography the best the early 2000s internet would allow me an somehow came upon The Jester Race, Whoreacle, AND Lunar Strain.
Even more hooked i was, so I continued to follow that band until I heard Jesper had ultimately decided to leave.
I've listened to all three of these new songs, and never have I been so happy to hear the music that made me so happy from 96-06.
I absolutely cannot wait for this band to tour.

So damn good. Instantly took me back to Colony/Clayman days. Just wish I could see Jesper playing more lead roles instead of just hanging in the back playing rhythm all the time. Maybe that’s just what he likes, who knows?
If you followed his old band long enough, you'd know about his stage presence preferences.
Maybe in later in flames but he wrote all those guitar hooks
@Bob Smith: you are not far off ;) He did write a lot of those leads/ideas, but playing them live wasn't really his thing, AFAIK. Not a shy performer by any means, though, very happy to see him play!

The modern pop rock sensibilities with the Colony style feel. I am glad Niclas is getting to let out some of that old Gardenian mixed with In Flames and I am super happy about it. Seeing Jesper play just makes me happy.

This is the only music I've been excited about in like 2-3 years. I was huge into the metal scene back in the mid 90s-mid 00s and Old school IF, DT, Soilwork, Darkane, Dimension Zero, Cemetery....all these bands were my shit along with dozens of others. That scene has died quite a bit.....BUT! This? This feels like "home". So much nostalgia for a song I've never even heard before.
If there's any justice in the metal world, these guys will become huge, let's just hope of they do, the don't try to become something different or more mainstream down the road.
My 21 year old son schooled me a couple of weeks ago.
He told me that Mikael was the original In Flames vokillist.

Listening to this song ,fulfills all my dreams on "swedish melodic death metal" for 20 years.
NOONE was able to take the throne since then....
I feel the insecurities and pain, bound to the progress of creating this masterpiece. When I heard, Jesper was creating music again with former "In Flames"-members, I was thrilled and scared. Since he has overcome so many obstacles, is he still able to catch my ear? And what shall I say? Yes! He is able to! Like he was never away!
Jesper is a genius, the creator of my favourite sound! Please, never stop! Thank you!

I absolutely adore In Flames and all its incarnations, I absolutely adore Dark Tranquility, and I absolutely adore all the other 'Gothenburg' bands (Soilwork, At The Gates, etc.) but this. THIS. This feels like what it was all supposed to be, especially with regards to In Flames and Dark Tranquility, and yes I do know the history and how connected all the members were/are. This feel like what we were supposed to get all the years. This feels like home. I can't wait to hear what the future holds for these gentlemen.
My only wish is that Mikael would use some clean vocals. But I love all of these songs so far

So it's 1998, i've been getting into metal for a few years now as a teenager and I read an article about in flames in a guitar magazine. Jesper was famously quoted as saying he wanted to write extreme music mixed with iron maiden leads/harmonies.
The only thing I really knew was thrash and power metal at this point, but I went out and bought colony when it released the next year.
Anyways, hearing this song makes me feel 16 again discovering new music. I never thought I'd hear real gothenburg melodeth again in my life.
