Why Fernando Alonso’s threatened ‘consequences’ over Red Bull F1 rumour

  • Few drivers take issue with F1 rumour mongering quite like Fernando Alonso, and he’s made it crystal clear how unhappy he is with speculation he could make a SENSATIONAL switch to Red Bull.
Alonso’s even promised to make sure there are “consequences”. Who for, and what exactly those consequences could be, we don’t know.
But whether it’s putting some pressure on behind the scenes or simply freezing out any journalists or media outlets who have wronged him, Alonso sounds upset enough over this to follow through with his threat.

Love him or hate him Fernando is not only one of the best drivers the sport has ever had but also one of the best characters, his career will be spoken of for decades to come after he retires and rightfully so. Should he have won more races and championships? absolutely, but 99% of racing drivers would bite your hand off to have the career and talent Fernando has had.

But we all know the person who's making the decisions to drop drivers is Helmut Marko. That to me indicates that Helbut & Christian aren't in synch when it comes to the second Red Bull seat, and if Checo were to be dropped, it would be Helmut's decision. It's annoying when people have a short memory and then start absurd rumours which neither make logically sense, nor are possible because of other clearly stated public reasons. But when alonso is pissed about having to negate something absurd and then even more absurd comments from the media come like the currently mentioned one - then you gotta be furious... I WOULD BE. This is by far the best car they’ve designed since the take-over, and they don’t even have the wind tunnel yet.

Oooh, the "consequences". Can't wait. 🤣🤣🤣
Obviously Nando is done with Aston Martin. When he signed up, he couldn't have known that they're going to sever ties with their engine supplier, leaving the team "in limbo" for the next two years. Can't see him twiddling his thumbs, waiting for Honda to "right the ship".
Red Bull's dominance is very likely to continue for the next two years and they can easily afford the odd clash between teammates (something Nando's isn't known for actually, way too professional) and if they want him, I'm sure he'd take it upon himself to resolve any contractual obligations he may have with Stroll's outfit.
Gawd knows, Red Bull could do with some good PR after treating their #2 driver like a "floormat"... and TBH, it doesn't get more sensational than signing Nando and grace Formula 1 with the greatest spectacle since Ron Dennis paired Alain Prost with Ayrton Senna in the MP4/4, having the best two drivers duking it out on track in equal machinery. The whole sordid Checo saga would be forgotten in a heartbeat.

The reason Alonso is so annoyed and why he wants to take legal action is the “journalists” he is talking about who “leaked” this information are the same journalists who were paid by Alpine to run the story that Fernando was slowing down in his old age and the wasn’t as competitive as he used to he as he got older the year Fernando was in contract negotiations with them (and Subsequently Aston). Alpine paid for the articles and referenced them in negotiations to drive down their offer to Fernando. So these comments are not him being directly offended by these comments but more having the excuse to get back at the “journalists and outlets” who took money to screw him over previously

Unless, that is, majority of their income now comes from Netflix, and that’s the main show they’re concerned about. Take 2016 for instance. It was a better show than the rest of the Mercedes championship seasons, but nothing memorable at all (except to fans who find Hamilton losing to a teammate memorable). We all just think 8 straight Merc titles.
