About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm. - Zábava
Morgan’s gunna have a full head of gray hair by the end of the summer the way his animals are behaving 😭😂
😂 They sure can be mischievous! 😅
He is working towards growing his food . So the reward of fat pigs will keep him positive n going
Hahaha. I got piglets for the first time this year. We had them in our paddock while we were setting up their electric fence. Mother in law with dementia wanted to watch so she came outside. Walked in the paddock and a little while later she says “are the pigs supposed to be outside?” We look up in horror. She left the gate open!!! So we dropped the fencing and pig wrangling commenced. 🤣
I am just SO glad I thought ahead enough to lock the goats up or it would have been a full on rodeo here.
😮 oh noooo...
Got in some additional steps that day ehh. Recovery accomplished.👍
“full on rodeo” 😂🤣
😂😂 Your comment made my day. 💜
😅😅😅
As a person who raises pigs, my daughters show them competitively.... they can easily be trained to walk using a show stick, and while I know you don't want them to do what my girls train them to do, it would be handy for you to be able to simply train them to walk for you, and you to easily lead them where you need them to be.
Pigs are so smart. Its easier to train them then fight them
The trials and tribulations of Morgan and the Gold Shaw Farm....never ends, and I love it.
There are certain lessons you only need to learn once. Mine was to wear gloves when sandpapering down horns. Yours is to double check how big gaps are vs the animals.
Betty White, Like her namesake she's a girl with Attitude!
She looks so pretty, I just find her long ears so adorable !
😂 . . . and adventurous, too! 😅
She needs Blanche and Rose so she can be a Golden Girl.
Sassy
HAHAHA!! You need my 7 yr old niece. She has won the greased pig contest at their county fair for the past 2 years.
Abby's like "I halp!"
Cardio with Pigs....Free fun!!! Lol😊❤
Like your friend Ben said, nothing more humbling than a pig.
I find in dealing with stuff on my farm, the phrase "It'll be fine" - either said aloud or thought - is a bringer of doom, much like saying Beetlejuice 3 times. Good job rebounding, pigs are their own special crazy.
Sounds like when I would go to bingo. If I’d say to the person I am with” I’m waiting”, my number would never come out. Therefore I don’t say it out loud anymore.
I have to say, watching you go on about the workability of your solution before the disaster I know is coming is just hysterical. Coax them out. FUNNY!!
YES allison is naming the pigs this year.
GOOD
"Pigs are not known as prolific jumpers". Well, maybe not those pigs, but you have to check the *League of Pigs* - those piggies jump hurdles for a living 😅
Laughing SO hard at the runaway piggies!!! You're a great storyteller, even if still a trainee farmer. I just love watching your videos.
At least he's polite to the pigs " would you get out of the corner please?" Lol
This was a great video I like how you sat and went over some things you learned it teaches others and it shows how your growing and doing an amazing job at the same time ❤
Pigs are better jumpers then you think! I got mine in march and they jumped out of there pen and went on a walkabout for a week before we found and caught them 😂
I've known two dogs that would tolerate the shock of an electric fence, for the freedom to follow their nose. Literally I watched my sister's dog brace, walk through the electric perimeter and then shake off, like he was shaking off water. Pigs are just as smart as a lot of dogs.
Best thumbnail ever.
YES! They look soo Cute!! & knowing they are on the lam...🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember last year when you got your first pigs, looks like another summer of fun, lol. I'm sure they will settle in soon. Thanks Morgan for taking us along.🐖🐖🐖🐖❤️👍
Just a little tip for next time: You should build an enclosed shelter, like a little hut where they can live locked up for 2-3 weeks and adjust to they're new home. They'll become friendlier and when you start to train them to the electric fence they'll be more cautious to the outside and and explore the fence. Also make sure when training to the electric fence you put a visible blockade for them so when they run around from getting a shock they dont dart under the wire.
As Jason from Sow the Land says, ‘I don’t trust no pigs.’ 😂
This is the year of spirited animals. Your wife will love them.
Abby Dog: "Boss, I have some serious skills if you'd let me use them...(and maybe hidden border collie genes)"
oh yeah, she always wants to herd, cracks me up.
Pigs, especially this size, would be the ideal creatures to use for Abby to learn some basic herding skills that she has the instinct for (with too messy an energy for now). They don't have horns, they're not too big (or not yet XD ), and they're not white (which seems to be her weakness). I really wonder if Morgan has considered it, especially because, as you said, she has that "put me in coach" attitude !
@@ladyteruki I think Morgan is stuck on Maremmas being LGD only and can't/won't entertain the concept that Abby has a herding nature. It annoys me because I'm sure Abby would be excellent if she got proper herding training.
I can understand way some new trucks have tailgate steps.
@carollkuemper maybe put it kindly aka the way people want to learn he will hear you ❤
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moe.
Cute 🐷
Hi Morgan. Who needs a gym membership when you have pigs. Right...🤗❣️
❤ Morgan, another new experience and another new learning experience.
Great music selections for the pigs and moving the cows to their new grazing area, too. ❤
Best use of the Toreador Song so far!
You are so funny! I learned about “secure” fencing from a Tortoise! Tortoises can move a lot faster than you would think!
Hilarious video. Made my day on this rainy midmorning day.
It’s funny, as soon as you pulled up with the truck I said to myself, no way they won’t slip through 😅, good example how much easier to see things from the outside than the inside.
glad to see you changed your mind on raising pigs this year. I love the pig videos!
Omg I'm in splits 😂 looking at Ben chasing and grabbing those squeelers 😅😂😅😂, yupppp nothing humble about that 😂
Oh My❗ 🐷piglets‼ GoodLuck, always happy to see a video from Gold Shaw Farm🐖🐖💚
Allison must be excited for a new batch of piggies!
Okay you simply have to name these after famous escapees!
You have learned what it is like to be a primary elementary teacher. The lower the grade, the bigger the transition from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. I’m a retired educator now so go through the same process with my foster kittens. Weaning and litter box skills are the first basics of kitten school. It is an amazing messy, and smelly process. Fortunately, they make up for it with cuteness.
Bacon seeds are so cute
Great editing and perfect music coordination. Love it.
You can call one of them Hammy Houdini 😂❤
Finally Pigs! Missed having them munch on apples.
Alison loves them.
@@snakey319 also loves to eat them lawl
I loved them too!! So fun to watch.
More excitement than you wanted, Morgan!
Well, Morgan, look on the bright side, they introduced themselves to the farm...lol.
Funniest Gold Shaw episode I’ve seen!! Thanks for sharing!!😂
Surprising since I think you said you would not necessarily get pigs this year. I don't complain though, pigs are funny.
They're so cute. The poor kids are so traumatized. I'm sending them hugs from Arizona
I am happy to see you got them all contained and safe. God bless you for giving your wife the opportunity to name them especially since that is something she wants to be a part of. You are a good man and a good husband. Enjoyed the video. Can't wait to see them grow up and enjoy the farm and meet the dogs and any other animals that decided to say hi.
Glad you decided to get pigs again even though they're a handful 😂 can't wait to see what names Alison will give them. And I'm very happy and relieved the calves are doing great! Betty White is quite the sprinter😊
Give them some straw bedding..piggies like to cover up out of the rain. I think the piggies might need a little bigger house.. They could get sick with our strange weather..
❤🐖🐖🐖🐖
Good luck Morgan!
🩷🌼🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕
Good to see the fruit trees in bloom! I wonder if there is anyone out there who has raised pigs and never had them escape...seems like it's a species trait! 😅 Good luck with the training and socialization!
Life happens and it’s still an adventure🎉🎉
Those little babies were so scared💔 Boy can they move though lol
You have such a great farmer disposition 🥰.
besides the baroque i really loved the transition to the next morning by walking thru blossomed trees ~ so beautiful & sweet & appropriate to the story ~
I so appreciate and admire you, Morgan! Your efforts on your farm always impress me with the thoughtfulness you give to your animals.
I adore your piglets!!!! I'm sure Allison is smiling right now! Blessings always.
What if you make a more permanent structure that houses the full grown pigs but if you put the electric wire in side its a great way to contain the little piggs and train them to the wire. Like pallets in dug out formation. Ore a dubbel sided next to the veggie garden for some easy access soil storage Piggy penn.
You can write a new book called the run-away Piglets
I call this chaos farming 😂😂
Yes, but were they greased up and did you then chase them around to banjo music while wearing overalls?
He puts Bach cello music under the video😂👌
@@paulinerebel845 Radically different feel to chasing greased hogs.
Should have done Vivaldi Winter ;-) @@Winterascent
As soon as I saw that they cattle panels with the HUGE gap on the bottom I knew this was going to be a problem. I swear Morgan makes all these mistakes just to entertain us all! As Jason from "Sow The Land" always says, "I don't trust no pig!"
I enjoy so much your videos. Bless your heart. Keep up your wonderful work. I’m so glad you have a channel that we can watch your work and growth.
I always enjoy the music you choose.
I thought so. I was surprised to see the shorts video yesterday and got confused if it was the old barn, old video ❤❤❤❤
Oh no the sleeping piggies at 6:35 I'm dying * _ *
Looking at that intro, I feel like it's soon gonna be time to catch some flies... And while I'm mentioning cows, it was fun to see Joey react to the loose pig ! He was really into it. Not sure I've ever seen any member of the Moo Crew of that age or older show so much enthusiasm, ever.
Did I hear you correctly that there's a male in the bunch of pigs, this time ?
Allison, next year at piglet season, you have to be here. This was fun😊
I don’t often enjoy others misery and misfortune, but today, the term schadenfreude comes to mind. Only because the first two years I raised pigs were an exercise in keeping my sanity. I’ve made every mistake a person can make even though I graduated from CZcams college several times! LOL Good luck bud! Enjoy! 😂
You know, I thoroughly enjoyed Morgan's misfortune, knowing he's going to eat them in a few months lol.
Love a person who see they were a little too cocky and can sit back and see where they messed up and improve!
Adorable pigs Morgan
Ah Morgan, a video like this really makes my day better . I am not surprised that the pigs are asleep when you get home, it must be soothing - like when you put an irritable baby in a car seat on the running clothes drier. (My irritable younger son was nicknamed Captain Davey of the SS Maytag. ) I really enjoyed this! thank you!
Im a horrible person. I just burst out laughing about the immediate escape.
Thank you so much for this update this morning, Morgan. I got some really bad news last night, and this video was a great pick me up. The little piggies are just so cute and full of energy. Little escape artists, especially that darker one. If it's a boy, Allison needs to call it Harry Houdini.
Ofc they escaped... The gap under the fence is big enough for a medium-sized dog to escape through...
If you use t post you can move them around when needed & still be able to use hog wire panels/ electric fence with limited effort. Being able to pull up the t post will keep it from being a permanent structure. It will just take a t post puller & some effort.
Morgan’s videos have no competitor in my CZcams subscriptions. Guaranteed watch every time.
That's adorable how they all fall asleep while in transit.
Run babies run.😅😅😅
uhhh Pigs! I LOVED the pig videos last year, so I'm so excited for the new pigs.
I haven’t been here in over a year. Life got in the way. Holy Shit look at what you’ve created. It’s beautiful. And you look like a million dollars!! Farming was the right choice for you. I love this.
Morgan - two ideas to ease your work. 1. To prevent the piglets escaping while you drive your truck out from between the pen's sides (@4:38), stand a couple 1x12 boards from side to side behind the truck's rear wheels, so there's no escape path for them. 2. to get the pigs out of the truck, maybe you could build a box that fills the bed (cross-wise), is a couple feet high, put ropes on it, and pull it from the cab end to the back, to gradually reduce the space they have to move in. As you pull it with the ropes, which brings the piglets to you, you can stand behind the truck's tailgate and grab them one by one. Of course building such a box only eases your work if you can use it again next year. Maybe store it away for later, maybe somewhere in your huge barn. It's great fun, whether you find ways to make your life easier or not!
The rule is, escaped piglets get Yackety Sax. Not for them, but for the guy who has to run after them in Wellies. 😉
Poor little babies! They are scared. Pigs are incredibly smart and know what pain, love, and fear is!
they have to learn about the fence somehow
I've just spotted on Temu a Highland cow sitting on a throne, reading newspaper, a toilet roll beside it and some sunflowers. I must get it. I knew nothing about Highland cows till I saw this farm. ❤❤❤❤
So, my grandpa gave me some wisdom about pigs. They have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to figure out how to get out of their pen, and they will eventually figure it out.
Good to see new pigs 🐖.
You'd think a dog who can herd might be able to help with escaped, but she is too random still.
We used to have a bumper sticker that said, "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it annoys the pig." 😊
🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🌞🌞🌞🌞happy piglet day
Thought you were going to put the straw in the piglet A Frame?
Just like last year, I wish your pen was big enough for them to not get shocked immediately if they move away. It's horrible seeing them terrified huddling in the center, afraid to move.
I can't wait to hear what Alison chooses for their names and to see them start to thrive in their new environment! 💖🥰🥰
Super impressed that you were able to capture so much of the action in the great pig chase of 2024 on camera! You really are a great CZcamsr - always getting the shot! Also cool to learn about the Dunning- Kruger effect. I'd never heard of that but it makes perfect sense. Something I need to stay aware of as I'm currently transitioning to a new career as a builder myself.
Piglets look so cute while causing their mischief, you can't get mad at their little faces.
This is really neat. I have been making a pilgrimage up to Snug Valley Farm for years to stock up on their pork/ beef each summer. They are an incredible family! So cool to see you have become close with Ben. Good luck with the Pigs this year!
I guess your mooborn cloud isn't the only escape artist on the farm. They're certainly keeping you on your toes, dear farmer!
That was fun!
I own a print by Michael Sowa, a pig jumping into a pond from a dock. We keep it in our hallway and see it several times a day, it always makes me smile 😊👍 Thanks for sharing your life with these beautiful sentient beings Morgan, what a journey 👍😊🇨🇦🥂
This made my day! I raise pasture pigs, and everything you experienced is so true about pigs. They will certainly humble you and most certainly test your patience! I love your comment, "They have a lot of spirit!" I will be using this phrase. Have a great day! Love watching you do chores
I raise pature Pork, beef, chicken, and dairy on a small scale by myself. Would love to visit your farm some day. If you ever come to Nebraska stop by for farm tour and tea!
One little piggy didn't go to market, one little piggy stayed home. Two little piggies took Morgan on a chase and we all laughed and laughed 😂
"Just a Few Acres Farm" used to put his summer pigs into a fenced in, brush filled area of his woods. They spent the summer eating scrub brush under oak trees.
