My average for 3 years would be in the 60s and 10th 12th is 95% and 88.8% respectively. I think my composite score will be around 21. So should I take up a job before giving cat 23 to increase the composite score? but I'm confused as they don't provide marks for work ex below 12 months

Hi Shweta! I have a doubt regarding the work experience points in IIMs. So as a fresh graduate from IP University, i do not have great placements at hand. Recently, i got a job at Natwest as a customer care Executive but i am not so sure about pursuing it since my main field of interest is marketing. After talking with few professors at my college, they have suggested that i should opt for Natwest as 1) It is a MNC so i would learn about the processes and subsystems of corporates 2) The job profile customer care, in a broader sense, is part of marketing. So should i opt for this job, would it be beneficial for me to get admn in IIMs? If yes, then how do i go about it and for how long should i do the job? or should i look for a different job in marketing field?
Customer service is hell yeah a part of marketing field. It'll build your communication and customer relationship skills. You won't land up as marketing manager within your first placement. And yes IIM will include your job in work exp. Work here for 3-4 months along with finding better job and enhance as much skills as you can to create a Stand out profile. Obviously built your specialization in something cause marketing is an ocean of many things!!

What was your family's first reaction when they come to know that you will complete graduation from Delhi and post graduation from Ahmedabad, because your home town is Jalandhar. Did they allow normally or there was a lot of arguments. Please also tell your financial condition at both the times . Thank you
I come from a middle-class family but financially things have been good at my home. When I was in 10th class and had to decide commerce or science, that's when I first mentioned that I'll study at SRCC, it was in Delhi. So, my mother was worried because I was shy/sensitive/papa-ki-pari types. Had never done anything by myself till then. But, over 2 years, I worked hard to show them I can do it. They didn't argue, my parents are quite supportive, but they were worried of course. If you're asking this because it's coming in the way of your dreams, I'll share what my professor at IIM-Ahmedabad once explained to a friend who wanted to marry a girl out of his caste and was scared to tell his parents - the prof said, "If you tell them you're gonna do this, they will refuse/argue/be against it. If you give them time to process it by dropping hints and then also prove your merit by living up to it, they will come around." If you have a dream like that, don't abruptly announce it. Most parents aren't against your dreams, they just worry about your well-being and think they know better. So, prove to them that you've got it figured. And if they still don't agree, in my personal opinion, do what you want. Life's too short to explain everyone everything. When we're selfish but cause harm to others unintentionally, it is not really bad - it's just collateral damage. In this case, your parents may be the collateral damage, but in my personal opinion, it's always better than not being selfish and blaming them forever.

Apko CAT 23 dena chahiye if you are eligible, agar aur kuch na sahi to experience hi milega. Secondly, profile ke ilawa boht se factors pe shortlist ati hai jaise ki FMS se, so CAT mein acha perform karne se aadhi problems solve ho jayengi. You should take CAT 23 for sure.

Abhi ke liye don't worry about mock scores, just focus on taking them to understand the pattern and identify ki konse section mein apko zada uncomfortable feel hota hai, because that is the section you need to work harder on. First 5-10 mocks ke marks matter nahi karenge.
Maa to nahi par bhai ke rup me batata hu, academic criteria me sirf 1 -1 mark melega 10-10 mark me se ( ab teri cat me 99+% he to baby IIM se call aajaye ge)

Life's too short to explain everyone everything. When we're selfish but cause harm to others unintentionally, it is not really bad - it's just collateral damage. In this case, your parents may be the collateral damage, but in my personal opinion, it's always better than not being selfish and blaming them forever.

Apko CAT 23 dena chahiye if you are eligible, agar aur kuch na sahi to experience hi milega. Secondly, profile ke ilawa boht se factors pe shortlist ati hai jaise ki FMS se, so CAT mein acha perform karne se aadhi problems solve ho jayengi. You should take CAT 23 for sure.

Abhi ke liye don't worry about mock scores, just focus on taking them to understand the pattern and identify ki konse section mein apko zada uncomfortable feel hota hai, because that is the section you need to work harder on. First 5-10 mocks ke marks matter nahi karenge.
