There's nothing the average American loves more than watching the rich and famous get mocked. Ricky Gervais is one of the few comedians who could do this to their faces on live television and it was glorious... even though I didn't watch it live because who watches award shows?
Honestly the average American doesnt care at all about the Golden Globes or celebrities thats why their ratings are so low. They brag if tens of millions of people go to see their movies yet theres 200+ million Americans who dont see them.

Y'all should react to Ricky at the Golden Globes from previous years. When you hear his jokes, that's the reason for the anxious and nervous looks on people's faces, he really roasted them and the powerful think they are above it. Personally I love it when millionaires roast other millionaires.......and they can, as Ricky says, f*ck off about it.
The man shown after Gervais made the joke about "The Two Popes" was Jonathan Pryce, who played on of the two popes in the film (pope Francis).
I ended up here at this channel and this particular video because as you all most certainly know that the infamous "CZcams rabbit hole" has the ability to take you literally anywhere. In saying that I am a full blown Aussie and I bloody love Ricky Gervais in his entirety but this is hands down his best work. Seeing and listening to you three lads react to it all only cements in my mind that you Poms and us Aussies are so damn similar I always consider poms to be the Aussie cousins because we all not only love our beer, our shits and gigs but we all most importantly have the exact same sense of humour and outlook on life. In the 1970's we had a TV show "Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast" , it was a weekly show and it was funny. They roasted Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Jimmy Stewart and so many more. It was a good show.
As a brit I found out about Don Rickles a few years ago and Christ that roast is amazing, I reckon Don would of liked Ricky

Ronan Farrow (joke somewhere in the beginning) is the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen (who the camera panned to during the joke). Ronan Farrow is a journalist who denounced Woody's and Mia's adopted teenage daughter relationship.(Ronan's sister basically who later became his Stepmom after marrying Woody). Very very messed up situation. Ronan Farrow is also the one who broke the story on Weinstein and said will give the names of all those involved.
I would give credit to Hollywood Foreign Press Association because Ricky did give them the speech for approval.

Thank you for the reaction. I don't normally watch anything to do with Hollywood, even remote stuff like this. But, gave this a chance today and enjoyed it. Good to see that some of those people are still down to earth enough to take a joke. For the stodgy ones who were offended by the truth being dumped in their laps, it served them right. I can't stand people who think they are above, or better than, someone else. Good for Ricky. That crowd deserves a healthy dose of reality followed by a stfu every once and a while.
The entire industry is dying and its brilliant to watch it play out. This year's numbers were down another 50% from 18 mil to 9 mil. Homelessness, high taxes, addiction, and misery are what these people vote for over and over again. When they can cleary look out a window and see the destruction they have reapt.

Hi, American here. I’ve gone through many decades as an adult in Los Angeles and never bothered to watch this particular award show. In 2020, I watched THIS award show FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. I switched it off as soon as he was done with his monologue. I watched the rest online (and skipped through everything except his part).
