  • In this video I explain Autodesk’s new Flex licensing model. This is optional licensing model based on ‘Pay as You Go’ principle. It means that you can purchase Autodesk tokens and each day you use Autodesk’s software, you pay with these tokens for the usage. This might be useful for some companies but totally irrelevant to others. I take a look at break even points of Felex licensing for Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360 and 3DS Max.

Yes, you are right. You can buy as little as 100 tokens for $300 currently, which suits my needs.

Man all i can say is i miss owning stuff. 😢 at this point even 100k for a single seat perpetual license with no updates is cheaper on the long run.

Well, this is the world that we live in. Even car manufacturers are releasing subscription-based capabilities of your car.

Hello, so, if you open the software just for 5 min, does it count for the hole day? Or just 5 min?

Hi Filipe. Even if you open it for 5 minutes, it counts as one day.

@@BIMforInteriorDesign really? I understood that the timer activates every 24h. So you could stop at 8 h then next day at 8h so on and so forth.

@@trowawayacc Yes, when you start at 8AM, you can use the software until 8AM the next day. You will spend tokens for 1 day of use this way.
