Driving across Europe, for this. We drove our tiny rental car on this Eurotrip, from Slovakia, through, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and finally in to France. As we travel west by car, we drive through some of Europe's most beautiful landscapes, from the Swiss Alps to Lake Geneva, and eventually in to the Rhones-Alpes region of France for a very special event. This journey traveling across Europe was intense but one of the most gorgeous driving routes you can do on the 'old continent' and through the European border free (Schengen) area :)

That train through the mountains is such a great idea. It saves driving on curvy, mountainous roads - or motorways that cost billions, AND it reduces pollution by lots and lots. So clever, those Swiss!

I travelled from the UK to Estonia by motorcycle a couple of months ago and I discovered that using the toilets at the German service stations costs money but at the rest areas without petrol stations and shops the toilets are free. You’re welcome 👍

When kid, we travel every summer from Neuquen city to North of Cordoba Province, where my granmother lived, around 1250 km. My father only stopped for a few minutes for fuel and a quick visit to the bathroom. That trip seemed eternal to me...how I miss it now. Ohh Lyon, i visited in 2020 for the first time, hope to return! Love from Buenos Aires

♥♥♥Been to all the countries except Slovakia. In fact lived in Lyon from 1962-1963. Loved the cowbells. Such a beautiful part of the world. Longest road tip was from North Carolina to Wyoming =1583.5 miles (2548 km). Thank you for sharing.

My late husband and I drove around parts of Europe for 8 months in 1986, and stayed in the Netherlands, my home country, for some of that time. I remember that tunnel in Switzerland ! We ended up in a rural part of the Provence and rented a small place for some weeks. Eventually back to family in Amsterdam. Returning to California was a transition. We missed the road and Europe so much. 🙏💕🌷🇳🇱

13,000km around Europe in 3 months in 1998. Was pre-GPS as I recall so all paper maps. One country that I often see travelers overlook is Slovenia, it's quite stunning.

Getting ready next week to drive from Nevada to Indiana. 1900 miles/ 3057 kilometers. Two days of driving. I've done it many many times now. Then 10 days later driving it again. Lol... Road trips are the Best!

Spent 16 days in Neuchatel right on the lake. Was there for business, but was able to get out for 2 day trips, Grindelwald, and the other was Geneva. Had lunch in Grinderwald with the Eiger overlooking us. Switzerland is awesome!
Longest road trip Johannesburg to Cape Town South Africa, 1400 kms done over two days. Just decided after watching this I need to take a trip to Switzerland. Incredible scenery. Thanks once again for having us along for the ride! xxx

Wow Alps are epic looking, i love the mountains in every country I’ve been in. Her in Canada we have the spectacular Rocky Mountains that go on forever it seems.
There’s very few CZcamsrs that capture the scenery the way you guys do. I’m always amazed at your videography skills.

Wow. I haven't been to most of those countries since 1984! All those mountains in Switzerland... I was fortunate to see them back in the 80s. They're STILL charging people to use restrooms! As far as I know, they don't do that here in India.

I have taken some long driving long trips across Europe some decades ago, having driven from Slovakia to Limerick in Ireland and Inverness in Scotland, to Oslo and Stavanger, to Gibraltar and Lisbon, this video brought amazing memories. Thank you very much! I shall do this again!

As is usual with you two, a beautiful video...The most beautiful country in the world has to be Switzerland, the place, the people, so lovely....Part of my growing up I spent with German, French and Italian speaking Swiss people, so good what an education. Oh, and London to Sicily by road, that was fun !

I think you're right Julia, Switzerland is the most beautiful country. The car train was so cool. 3,962 Miles was my longest car ride. San Antonio, Tx to Kissimmee, Fla, to Philadelphia, Pa and back to San Antonio, Tx. I had a little car like you have and it was so easy on the gas.

Another lovely video showing what Europe has to offer. For our family holiday this year I’m planning on driving from the UK to a campsite in France…it promises to be an exciting…and a little daunting experience…as we normally do the usual package holiday thing to the usual destinations…airport,plane,airport,coach,sit around a pool for two weeks. As I’m getting older (60) I’m getting this strange urge to get out of my comfort zone and travel. Thanks again for yet another great video that gives me the inspiration to just go for it 👍🇬🇧

Question… have you guys ever considered traveling through America?? As a native Californian, I’d LOVE to see your opinion and experience of the country. And I don’t mean with the motive to pick out the negatives of our country, but to enjoy maybe some of the lesser known, simpler communities (along with the major cities of course) I would find that so fun to watch. ❤

On hearing you mention Liechtenstein, my mind immediately went to one of the oddest experiences I've had while travelling - I arrived at the bus station in Feldkirch at 8:30 am on what I thought was a normal weekday morning to travel to Vaduz for the day and met a large group of people there entirely painted blue and dressed at Smurfs! Needless to say, I was very confused but it turned out it was Mardi Gras and they were travelling to an all-day celebration in Vaduz! I couldn't believe it when you arrived in Feldkirch later in the video, it was lovely to see a glimpse of it again 14 years later.
I always marvel at the interconnected nature of mainland Europe and this video really intensified that feeling - I'm feeling quite envious of my fellow Europeans now while I'm sitting here surrounded by water in Ireland. To be able to simply get in the car and cross border after border seems like a dream :)

That cartrain you was riding on is a narrow gauge line former Furka-Oberalp Bahn, todays Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. You should leave the car and travel as I was doing, by train.

Hey Guys, so glad to see you're doing well! First and foremost, Such a Cute Baby, congrats Julia on being a godmother! Thank you for sharing this part of your journey, truly touching, and tearful...I'm not crying you're crying! Haha. Surprising to hear about the bathroom fee, but then again, nothing should be a surprise in this world anymore, especially post-COVID. I can't begin tell you how happy I was to see you sharing your route maps, it inspired me to make the journey on my own after my Hidden Balkans tour, next year; I love driving across countries, and this looks like it will turn out to be a nice drive to clear the ole mind, per se, can't wait. The mountains of Switzerland are both breathtaking and "Espectacular", as we say in my Puerto Rican language, Spectacular!! Wow, so cool you guys got to stay in the car on the car train, and you're reactions in the tunnel lol...here in Florida, we have the Amtrak auto-train which runs from Sanford, FL to where I used to live and work before retiring to Lorton, VA(Washington, D.C. area). The only difference is you don't stay in your car during the overnight journey, it's secured with others in one of the freight containers, and you either buy your tickets for a coach seat, or private rooms (Family Room, Bedroom, or Roomette). Which I've taken the latter quite a few times, and didn't disappoint. Thanks again for sharing, and as always can't wait to be with you guys at the end of May next year, so freakin' excited!!! 😁🤗

We went to Saas Fee 20 years ago. Spectacular scenery. Thought it was much better than Chamonix where we stayed the following week!

in Berlin all the toilets were paying except in the parlament. even the macDonalds in the centre of Berlin were about 50 cents. Though on the whole the locals were very friendly. In Vienna there were toilets were a man caretaker charged the money inside the toilets and he accompanied you to the cubical and there were no lock on the door. My husband and son were in the men`s section which were visible from the inside so I was not so nervious. What was a little annoying was that my husband and son were charged nothing. Though on the whole in Vienna there was almost none of the friendliness that was shared with us in Berlin.

It's in Montreux on the Lake Geneva shore, where he had often performed at the Jazz festival.
Nice video. The Alps are amazing. Btw. the cows you came across is one of the oldest, if not the oldest cow breed in Europe.
I still have a few comments, though:
- the 2500 km trip with a rented car must have been horribly expensive. Do you have any sponsorship from a car rental company you would like to disclose? ;)
- while you claim the car has been borrowed in Bratislava, it apparently has a Czech registration plate. Can you explain the discrepancy?
- it's a pity you didn't manage to hike in Tatra mountains, it would have been a stunning panorama, too
- I hope you were careful enough while driving through Switzerland. They have hundreds of speed cameras...

I was wondering if it’s complicated for you to travel through the European Union now with a UK passport, like in do you need visas for countries like Germany or France?
You can stay 90 days out of any 180 days in the EU as a UK Passport Holder without Visa etc
No visa required if stay less than 90 days ❤️

I don't see what's wrong with paying (less than) a euro to use a well cleaned and maintained toilet, that automatically desinfects after usage. That's the idea behind it.
Before moving to South Africa last year we lived in Switzerland for 14 years. We also traveled to France, Austria, Liechtenstein and Germany regularly because it is all so close. I loved how you pronounced Liechtenstein and Feldkirch 😂. Flying would have been faster but driving is more scenic.

They use trucks/lorries. We may have train transporting automobile but I never seen such case so far. Let alone a car with all passengers inside is riding on board a train.@@markusstudeli2997
