Areas where you can have the good view of the sea are in Poro, San Fernando City, La Union and there in San Juan and Bacnotan, La Union.

If you like a subdivision located beside the beach Montemar is one of the best in LA Union. You can try that one it's convenient.

Another blogger Finnsnow is also building their mountain-top dream house in Dauin, Negros Oriental. Biggest problem for houses in high elevations is water.

The Makahiya plants have sharp thorns that will ensnare your feet if one steps on them carelessly. It is like razor type of barb wire the more you move thr more you get entangle. Be careful when there plenty around. Yeah, it is economically wise to buy land besides Mike so care takers could have a company and can ask to look after the house when the caretaker goes to market. It is a good idea to have a vacation house accessible by a few hours from your apartment in BGC where the children be going to school.

Hi Kim and Tom! You should check out Batangas beaches and vacation homes. Very close to Manila. When deciding to buy property, you should visit these locations during rainy season and see how you feel.
But Taal Volcano is a threat
Going to La Union using expressways will get you there 3 to 4 hours
It’s like you also travelled to Batangas because of the nightmare traffic going there lol
I don’t think that is a great location if the volcano decides to erupt again
Your mother is ilongga why not in Iloilo or Bacolod?
If you want a place without typhoon, best place is Davao city, crime free and the land are fertile. Look somewhere in the davao bukidnon road where it is flood free. Ilocos region are sometimes beseiged by typhoons.

You should look into Batangas too as it’s much closer to Manila. The beach is more swimmable as well since La Union more for surfing.
Aside from Surfing, La Union has a lot of beaches from its coastal towns/city that the water is calmer and it is good for swimming.
..i suggest a vacation Home in the Eastern Board of Pinas..not the Western Board fronting WPSea and China...at this point ,its a flashpoint ..anything could happen..

Why not co-own a property with Mike. Then, build two houses like a compound. That way the land and development of the land will be cheaper since you will be sharing it. And the expense of getting a care taker when you're not using it. You could also put it in the market for vacationers .

@@THEKITOFAMILYThe suggestion of owning a property with someone besides you and your wife is not a good idea. Don’t even consider it. There is bound to be a problem later that can destroy relationships. Avoid it. Is this just vacation home for you or something permanent? You need good schools for your children. I hope there are good schools in that area if you are making it your home.
As a Realtor that is a worst idea ever. Especially in a foreign land.

I don't think you can own land in the Philippines if you are not a Pilipino Citizen . You can own confi units but not lands. So be careful and check on the legality . Because you might buy it but in the long run they can take it away from I m you. Even Kulname. BECOMING filipino put the name of his Filipino friend when he bought land because it can not be in his nams.
