he was in cold room , but it's not same as sea and water , it's far , far colder to be in cold water than in-on cold air . only problem in air is when you are wet , and it's windy , but if it's just cold air , not big feeling of cold vs cold water . cold water 6C , you just put leg in that , and you will feel like someone is kicking in your leg , so painful after just few seconds . I am regularly swimming into cold sea , but not in extreme , when it drops to less than 15 C degrees , I cannot stand the pain . it's easier for short and wider people , than for tall and slim . and also genetics play part , if you naturally have higher estrogen and more subcutaneos fat , it will be easier for you in cold climates .
I've done a couple of cold water swims two in the sea and outside swimming pool. It's brilliant.
