      Not really. the complexity is the limiting factor and breadboarding is quite a finicky process that requires insane patience especially at scale.

      Him, Jerry Ellsworth, Steve Wozniak, etc. Both a better place and a beacon of inspiration. It's people like them that I couldn't be more thankful to exist within the same era of time.

    Ben Eater, you ROCK. Having the patience, the generosity and the dedication to something without expecting pay, is a very rare trait nowadays.

    Wow, he sounds a lot like my own experience with school. I used to skip school so I could read up on electronics at the library. Sadly, my childhood in school was before the internet existed. We just had the library. I ended up being self taught in programming, math (nothing like what he has learned). Programmed my own video games. And now that I have found Ben's electronic videos, my old childhood love of electronics has been rekindled. Thanks. He's absolutely right about schools, we need people like him to redo how our education system works to be honest. How many kids are slipping through the cracks that didn't have the resources or opportunities he did.

    And if that wasn't enough, that guy is currently making probably the best video tutorial on building a full-blown 8-bit computer from simple TTL logic chips on breadboards :) Go figure, they're _really_ good :>

      Would you please provide a link for this video?

    • @metacustomcomputers3426

      Just search for "Ben Eater" and you'll find his channel. :)
      Kind regards,
      Meta Custom Computers

    • @bonbonpony
      @bonbonpony Před 7 lety +6

      That's the problem with these links: I posted a link three times already, but CZcams doesn't show my comments with these links (which is weird, because it works with other links :P ). Censorship much? :P
      Blame Google ;°
      But as +Meta Custom Computers said, you can simply search for "Ben Eater" and you shall find his channel. Then the several recent videos are about this computer and how to build it step by step, with nice explanations of how each of the modules work. There are also other digital electronics tutorials on his channel which I also encourage you to watch.

    • @bonbonpony
      @bonbonpony Před 7 lety +2

      Yeah, but all the parts are reusable for other purposes, including the breadboards. And by building this computer you can understand how it all works, contrary to Raspberry Pi which is "closed hardware" (it's quite hard to even get the datasheets and pinouts of the chips used, not to mention understanding how they work inside).

    Just went through 4 of your videos explaining flip-flops and latches. Got side tracked seeing this in the suggested videos because I wanted to know why you were so good at explaining these things. I learned more about digital logic watching your videos than I did in my entire semester course at University. So glad to have stumbled by you, Keep up the good work!

    I don't that luck is a free gift or path to success because I believe that the chance favors the prepared mind. So yes you were lucky but no one was well prepared as you were for this chance.
