I am a 43 yrs old Korean guy living in S.Korea. As I listened to this episode of podcast with Jason, I realized how thankful I am and my family thanks to the sacrifice the American solders made sacrificing their lives. I go to memorial day ceremony time to time and I realize how many young lives were taken away who would have been grandfathers by now. Without them I wonder how my life and my kids lives would have changed , we could be in North Korea's dictatorship regime. Thanks Jason for your sacrifice for your country and others. I and my family thank you and your family. We are forever indebted to you and Americans
May God bless you and keep you safe.
🇰🇷🇺🇸
As an American and a Veteran, It is very good to hear you acknowledge this. Thank you for giving credit to those who served and died there.
Dana Jung... Your post of gratitude is very much appreciated by all American Patriots🇺🇸‼️ Thank you‼️ Jason is one of our many fine & loyal American Navy Seals💪🏽 I feel your sincerity 🙏🏽May God Bless You & Yours💕
So sad that S Vietnam didn't turn out the same way thanks to the gov who wouldn't let the military win it! Been to Pohang Korea 1980 USMC...
I'm enlisted in the Corps. I've been in 9 months. Still a young buck. I'm 23 and currently in 29 Palms California. I've been here 4 months now. Ive been listening to your podcasts since I decided to join because my uncle showed me your channel. I'm very blessed to listen to your motivated and informative discussions. Thank you for your service sir. And thank you for all that you are.
Happy thanksgiving young man.
You know you're a badass right?
HOOYAH NAVY!
Hey man im 23 thinking of enlisting, how has the Corps been for you these last two years?
WEll..... you regret it yet? HAH HAHAHAHHAHAA did you learn your lesson... was not what you thought right...... I was in the club
@@charlesbukowski9836 that’s some cowardly ass shit too say, I’m guessing you’re out now and telling people you’re a war hero while you were in youre that fucking 10% shit bag talking shit about the Corps like a bitch. I’d like to give you 10 minutes of leadership training so you shut your fucking mouth.
God we got some hard gentlemen right here.

OMG This guy, Redman 's humility is unreal. What a badass. Thank you, Sir.
Andrea Crouch
Even better is that it didn’t start that way. He had to learn that humility and we get to witness it, that’s how we know it’s real.
Even thought it seems he hasn’t perfected that humility, the fact that he seems too be constantly working on himself is very inspiring.
I think most of us can relate to this guys story in one way or another.
Listen to his recent sit down with Shawn Ryan…it’s even more thorough which is saying something cause this is a great discussion here
Jason once again puts himself on the line for others by being intensely vulnerable and transparent about his mistakes. Then shows us how to rise up from the ashes. What an amazing human being.
This podcast should be mandatory listening for all combat units. It amazes me how much has been learned over the past 20 years or so.
I would like to see someone on this podcast from the medical community. They are truly amazing, from the people that rescue you from the battlefield and stabilize you somehow and get you to the emergency personnel that put you back together. Not enough is said about these fine professionals.
Jocko has endured a lot of pain I can't fathom. I don't know how he keeps it together, but each time I see him maintain composure, it makes me realize how important it is to have emotional control. Especially during the Ryan part. I can't believe they killed him by, from what it sounds like, too much anesthesia.
God bless Jocko, Echo, and Jason.
Rest peacefully Ryan, Mikey, Marc, Chris, Seth, and all the other great American men we've lost.
Agreed. When he gets choked up I feel like we all feel the pain too
Well yes but what aboy Mr.Redman who suffered terrible injuries or Travis Mills who has no arms and legs...Jocko lost many of his brother but so did other Seals
On a few of his exhales while he was reading In the beginning you could hear it stabbing his heart you could hear the jittering so to say in his breathing
@@nemanjag1812 they're just saying man why compare their just saying with him doing interviews and how hes been there done that so long and what not
@@AndrewPureMIbecause that person isn’t stable or grown up enough to understand some things don’t need to be said and usually they’re said anyway but not with words.
I’m the beginning of his podcasts Jocko said he would always do his best not to curse because of who will listen in the future etc. The fact he dropped a lot in this episode shows how much this hit him

People are scared to hit the thumbs down button.
Amazing. This podcast keeps me on the path to the man I want to one day be. Thank you for the daily inspiration to keep grinding away at the man I no longer want to be.
Copy this! You and me both!
exact same reason I´m here. good luck, lets stay on the path.

Just found this podcast in the most severe stage of my life.
" If you want to soar with eagles dont keep company with turkeys."
Very true .
Come on dude, these guys are navy SEALs, you think they need cliched, movie quote motivational quotes?...
@@pm3577 Why not? It doesn't for you, but maybe it has deep meaning to him. Maybe he doesn't care. Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.
@@waterhead1027 😂 ... cliche upon cliche... whatever works for you I guess...
@@pm3577 You walked right into that one....
Thanks for this awesome interview and introducing me to Redman! As a wounded Soldier who spent some time healing at Walter Reed myself, a lot of what Redman said post injury resonated. During my deployment, I always assumed I'd die in combat or live to see another day and drive on. Never saw a permanent disability be in the cards for me. Live and learn but at least we're still alive.
Thanks for your service brother.

@@williamwebster8367 Thank you, brotha. Same to you.
Much respect, thank you for your service brother.
Be thankful you got to serve. Coming from a military family I knew 100% I was going to be a marine or ranger until I hit 13 and found out I had blood clots in my legs which makes me unable to serve.
Its funny after coming close to dying because of the blood clots a couple times while laying in a cold hospital room id much rather die doing something....anything
@@eriktruchinskas3747 OK.
Whenever I start slacking off I can listen to Jocko and immediately feel hyped up
I’ve listen to this countless times - start to finish.
“Lead yourself FIRST - Others will naturally Follow”.
True wisdom, I’ve needed to hear these words more than I can ever convey.
Thank you so much gentlemen.
This podcast is a national treasure. Keep up the great work gentlemen and God bless the USA!

I've seen a lot of different videos with Redman in them and I got to say he's one heck of a guy. After all he's been through he's tough. Another one of those Heroes it makes me proud to be American. Thank you Mr Redman.
I love Echoes Goodevening every video it makes me laugh lmao
bet you he's a monster he's just being humble
Dude showed up lookin super sharp! Best dressed guest by far!!
HOLY SHIT 2:09:08 I thought I heard that note before somewhere? And then it hit me, I had read it. If anyone has read "Touching the Dragon" by James Hatch(another seal) he mentions seeing Jason's note on a door while he was in the hospital(bottom of page 184). Crazy how small of a world it is.
He actually goes on to try and help James recover (get the book). What an absolute hero on and off the battlefield.
One of the best books on how to fail and learn from your mistakes as a leader. Some team guys might hate him but he owns his mistakes and teaches the future on how to correct it in themselves. Not just military but in the civilian world as well.
Thank you so much man, that means a lot to hear! 🙏🏻
50:00 Something I'll never comprehend is how many teammates and brothers are lost in such a tight-knit community. It's overwhelming and impossible to understand. Thank you again for this podcast.
great job mr jocko or sir jocko its beautiful when you listen to somebody like you i always thank usa best wishes from kosovo thanked by albanian who was saved by usa thank you

What a journey here .......
Mr. Redman, thank you for your candor sir. Your example of leadership inspires .......
Another epic landmark Jocko podcast.....

Wow! Simply inspiring! Thank Jason Redman for sharing the most intimate details of your life and service. You are a true inspiration! Thank you both for your service and dedication to this great nation.
The fact that anyone dislikes any of jockos podcasts makes me worried what those people would rather listen to
Oh man ole ranger school, no sleep and no food. I miss it. I really appreciate these podcast. I am getting medically retired and I feel like a carpet is getting ripped out from under me. Time to move on but I am still learning and thanks for these podcast for me to grow.
Med retired eh? Hope you're doing well.
Maybe tile will be a good replacement for the carpet...
Take it easy man. Lots of families, mine included appreciate you.
You win some you lose some I guess eh?
Oh Brother! I absolutely understand where you were as you wrote this. At least (from what I’ve heard from young guys at VA) nowadays you are actually informed and helped to get your VA Disability Rating. I was forced out with nothing about the world told to me and continue the fight with VA to get to 100% and it’s a bitch! It took my Father In Law 40 years to get to 100% and he was literally Blown off the battlefield in Vietnam! Good Luck, Godspeed and welcome back to the World.
I'm 18 now been listening since I was 16, your podcast and book thought me so much.
that's so good to hear! im 20 and it's literally changing my life
You r on the right path young man make this man your mentor and life will be awesome...
Get some jiu jitsu in your life....
UFL WILD WHITEY I second that. Jujitsu and wrestling or both if you can are great builders of intestinal fortitude and humility.
You’re way ahead of the game kid. It’s your turn to be the great person you’re meant to be!
💪😎 Stay on the narrow path of discipline. At the end is freedom.
This is without a doubt the best podcast of all podcasts in the history of all podcasts. Amen.
May the wrath of The Great Echo smite down whoever dislikes this video.
Its kind of funny how his name is Echo...whereas he speaks only in tangents...I feel like Im listening to the echo's of the mind when I'm hearing him speak.

Absolutely brilliant podcast.
The Trident is an amazing book, i could not put it down. Jason is a walking miracle

So true lol
This man had a real spiritual Awakening. I never thought I would click on this video and hear it's so highly infused with spiritual value.
Thank you gentlemen
Such an inspirational story of Jason’s. love his attitude.
My absolute favorite Jocko podcast! Jason is such an inspiration and I got soo much out of this podcast . We as a country will never forget your service along with those that gave their lives.
GREAT PODCAST ---he thrived, crashed and rebounded to become a fully respected and Honored Vet.
Awsome story, one of the toughest things men or people can do is to listen to criticism or admit our biggest flaws as people
Red really said it! 2:31:47 I've experienced that plenty of times, but as the "little-bit arrogant orthopedic surgeon". Slapping the X-rays up and thinking, "OMG what a freaking train-wreck!", but saying to the patient (as I'm sure Jocko would put it), "GOOD! This is the kind of surgery we LOVE doing!" But, as a mentor told me much more than once, "the enemy of good is better. The enemy of better is perfect". There really does come a point where less is more and the risks outweigh the benefits.
I come back to a random Jockos podcast on occasions when I need some motivation that I can't find for myself. I'm an army of 1 in my household. No longer in service, 3 girls and a wife, working an easy money job I worked hard to get but it's boring. Never seeing how productive you are because it's tasked out to someone else. I have to pick a random goal and stick to it or I'll go into a rabbit hole of chaos. I tell you what.... maybe 2 Jocko podcast a day is a bit much. I listened to the Dakota Meyers one earlier and started this one. Talk about feeling like I don't do shit while on the clock. Is it really that great to work up to these easy positions? Money doesn't motivate
Well said sir
Ostin agree.....get home and get busy. You aren’t tired, you’re uninspired.
I've been into rc stuff for years now and find it very therapeutic to wring out an airplane or drone or just sit on a chair and dig in the dirt with an rc excavator. I don't know you obviously but it always soothes my inner chaos. Cheers bro

How are things going now? Still married ? still working? Hope so. Your answer is in Christ brother. Love God Love others. Serve God serve others. No other answer. Not about you. John 1. Listen to the Bible for free.
This right here.... this is the most eye opening podcast for me. I'm going in to become a CCT after I finish my senior year and I've been doing many things to learn about who I am in order to better myself mentally to be the best Operator I can be. This podcast..... this has put me a huge leap further down my journey of self improvement and realization. Keep up the good work, both of you.
This is the best and most intense podcast I've ever heard from Jocko.
Agreed I've listened to it twice.
Say it, Live it, and that belief will catch fire in you... powerful words my brother.
We need more Red’s and Jocko’s in the Congress and Senete.
I've read Jason's book 3 times. You hate to have to fall so far to be shaken awake, but I'm glad he figured it out, and then to survive the injuries is another struggle altogether
thank you ALL for your efforts! You and your guests really bring home what is possible with the right mindset

That dark lighting didn't do Mr. Jay any favors. He is such a inspiring man. It makes me proud to be an American! Thanks Mr. Jocko for having such a awesome bunch of guests on your podcasts! Your also my hero. Respectfully and humbly to you Scott the muleman Marcum. PS I've watched almost watched every podcast you've put on. I will watch them all. CHECK!
It's about time we pressure Jocko into reading audiobooks. Like my old man and the sea.

Wow just pure excitement seeing the guest and book for this podcast. One of the most inspiring stories I've heard. Thank you so much for this and for you and Jocko giving up your privacy to share your stories and lives with us. I can only hope to have half the strength and tenacity of you men. Much respect always
Amazing podcast as usual. Much respect to Jason Redman who shows tremendous humility and courage here. And many thanks to Jocko for providing an abundance of leadership lessons. It’s making a difference in my life and the lives of others.
I just want to add...I Respect Both of these people...But Both of them together...Just Awesome !!!
Almost blind from surgery and feeling vulnerable… then I found this. Two more hours left and I feel like i can do anything
God bless Jason redman for his service. Guy left a lot of himself over there. Hope he lives the rest of his life happy and peaceful. 💙🤙
Jocko smashes again with more warriors. These guys make me not want to cry and wine.

@Ostin there's a tear in my beer, cuz I'm crying for you dear...
I love the story starting at 33:01 from Jocko, it just shows the humility he has and how great of a leader he is.
After hearing the story from Jason and DJ it's almost unbelievable! SEAL team's basically blowing themselves up and the overpressure is detrimental to the brain. Our warrior's deserve the best treatment possible! Amazing story, team. Rest in peace Ryan,Mikey, Chris, Murphy, the Helo that was shot down and all of the SEALS that gave their lives for our freedom and the one's that took their lives, we must do better by then! We must!
The interview with DJ on the Shawn Ryan Show was powerful. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Wow. I need to purchase this book. I relate to Jason so much. In a totally different field, make a few horrible choices and I'm now attempting to climb my way back. Wow. Thank you for this.
This was a GREAT interview.God Bless you WARRIORS!!!
This is by far my favorite Jocko Podcast episode. Jason Redman's book "The Trident" is one lf the most impacting books I've ever read and one I believe almost all people can relate to.
Jocko- I love your heart. Got me choked up when you did, and a huge part of your sacrifice is just knowing that heartbreak was a possibility, but you signed up, risked life and limb literally, and continue to grow and also inspire normal people to be humble and great at the same time.
I needed to hear this podcast. Thank you gentlemen.
I have to say, these book podcasts are some of the greatest insights into things I didn't even know about. I have to give my upmost respect to not only the men that gave but yourself for the ability to share the stories to us, the audience. Fascinating, frightening insight into the minds and stories of the bravest of men.
This is amazing. Veteran SEAL sent to Ranger school and quits then becomes a great leader
God Bless you Jason, you are a great warrior and compassionate dude. Much respect!
What a podcast this is and what episode this was!! Jocko’s teachings are so real!
Thank you gentlemen,it's been a real honor to hear this and see the lessons learned. Honorable men make this world redeemable.
This was amazing. This hit home, especially the realism of his emotions and growth.
Thank you, Jason. Thank you.
Humility and self retrospection...what an amazing warrior.
