No joke, the other stuff in there is often, High Fructose Corn Syrups and other 'fillers'. Take a look at European Honey Laws - they allow no such 'junk' in theirs. Raw, Local, Non-Pasteurized is what you want. As someone mentioned - local honey is great because it helps with allergies, ie; made from local plants. Look up medicinal uses for honey too!

On the note about seeds, purchase plastic containers to store them in. It gives you a chance to store larger quantities in water/airtight containers that can be easily stored, moved, portioned out and hidden without risk of them germinating.
If you store things like sugar and spice and everything nice for the purpose of bartering then invest in a scale. A simple non electrical will enable you to divide your product into smaller quantities for maximum profits.

On the subject of barter items. We have decided to avoid "high ticket items" for bartering. Items that are reasonably desirable are fine, but items in "high demand" are nothing you want people to know you have. It just won't work. You will either be robbed of the items on the way in ...or the equally valuable items (you bartered for) on the way out. The more something is "needed", the more justified they will be in stealing it or killing for it, without hesitation or guilt. Especially if they cannot afford it, ...and it cannot be easily reproduced, or ever produced again without a reasonable recovery of our civilization.
Also, don't kid yourselves for a single moment. Precious metals will be absolutely worthless, save pure silver ...for its medicinal potential. Precious metals only have value (even today) because they are worth "money". Their values are measured in a given currency. And you are not likely to prove authenticity, purity, weight, or ever make "change" for a transaction. Not to mention, its rarity and scarcity will make precious metals a poor currency if everyone doesn't have it. And, sadly, they simply have no other value but to be currency. The economic velocity would be stagnate. That, combined with scarcity, would render them as hot potatoes or the "old maid". Again, until a recovery of civilization and a reestablished metals market.
Items best traded or bartered much later on in the timeline will be raw materials (or partially refined materials) that only have value to those who have the skills and abilities to further refine them. Wool to the spinner, yarn to the weaver, material to the seamstress, ...etc. Sooner or later an economy emerges. Prior to that, nonrenewable consumables will dominate. The biggest problem is the principle of supply and demand. Renewable surpluses will have little value ...because they are "surpluses" and are "renewable". And the pre-collapse stockpiles of non-renewables will eventually run out. The transition will need to happen in short order to prevent a "second" collapse.
To insure survival, bring skills with you into this future. Stockpiling antibiotics and gunpowder is great. The ability to produce it makes you a king. Would you rather have eggs or chickens?

Also, when the trees are young, surround them with boiled, broken egg shells, to prevent caterpillars. The shells are harsh to climb over, will dissolve, and put calcium back into the ground.

One small comment. When buying honey try to buy local. Because many of your honeys are in fact not honey at all or have been altered with other sweeteners to make it appear as honey but are substitutes mixed with honey. You need to read the labels well. You want pure honey/raw honey, pure/raw honey will literally last fore ever ( fact). One kinda simple test is the slow air bubble test, take two or three different honeys and turn them upside down and watch to see which one has the slowest rising bubble. That will most likely be your purist one. But with that being said , if you buy it in a store it’s probably Been processed, by way heat/ pasteurization and filtering. Get your pure honey. Take a drive to the country and go to the local farmers market and get your self some good old fashioned harvested honey mmmm mmmm good. Also as a reminder children under a year old should not be fed honey. Have a good day. Stay alert. Stay alive.

Silver and Copper can be used for disinfecting water. Using copper handles on the bathroom door makes it more sanitary. Takes time, sure, but if that's all you have...
Also transparent foil is also useful. Nylon rolls can be used to make greenhouses, to be able to grow food (like grains and berries and potatoes) in the winter. Rice is also a cheap food to store in bulk, in food-safe long-time storage containers. And you can always use it to supplement your meals, or as the meals, until the seeds grow. I'd focus on foods and spices that are easy to grow, and preferably also have medicinal properties&uses, and maybe also other uses (like help to make paper and hempcrete). Oh, and books about the history of different industries will help a lot. Even more so if they come with guides. Especially medicinal books and survival books.

Sprouts are totally "harvested" right after the first leaves show and stem has stretched up a bit; the few people that I know that grow baby or micro-greens harvest the whole plant after the 2nd or 3rd set of leaves come out. What you seem to be referring to is more like normal harvesting of plants before they bolt.

Also I notice on all these lists the one most important thing NO ONE ever mentions, a library in your home. The net will be down, comps could not work if there is an EMP, and so on. A solid library on medicines, health, gardening, medical and food herbs, baking, farming, survival skills, and even an enclyopedia set. As an add on old military books work also (map reading, outdoor survival, weapon repair, ect)
    Other cheap barter items
    Needles and thread
    decks of cards

    Honing stones
    socks (new)
    Matches/Bic Lighters
    Multi vitamins (life span again)

Most important barter item...a solid skill set, be it medical, brewing, farming, small engine repair, hunting, wood working, whatever. This is a barter item that will never run out and makes you a valuable person to have around. Just have the proper tool sets stored away just in case.

Look at alternative stoves such as wood and alcohol along with propane camp stoves. The small propane bottles can be refilled from a 5 gallon tank. Water purification filters will be very valuable. If the grid is down for more than a day, people will become bored without smart phones, the internet and TV -- I have stocked up on paperback books, adult coloring books, coloring pencils, board games and packs of playing cards. If stores are closed, people will need to make their clothes last as long as possible -- hand-sewing/quilting needles, quilting thread and buttons will be in demand as will be bars of laundry soap (Zote and Fels-Naptha), clothes line cording and clothes pins. Rechargeable batteries in the common sizes will be highly prized as will be the opportunity to charge those batteries using a solar charging set-up. Anyone with an RV generator (or an RV with a built-in generator) to produce clean power for re-charging electronic devices will be in high demand and can rent out time connected to an RV power outlet. Of course it helps to have several 30 lb tanks of LP gas to fuel the generator. Ice cubes in summer will be highly prized and anyone with a counter top ice cube maker connected to generator power can easily sell glasses of iced tea, lemonade, or iced carbonated beverages when there is no air conditioning. Anyone with the skill to make sturdy sandals from old tires and old leather belts will find customers after all those expensive plastic and vinyl athletic shoes fall apart and there are no replacements for sale.

Water!... All of these are absolutely good ideas but water is absolutely critical... Most places that sell camping or military surplus supplies also sell "food grade" 55 gallon plastic drums for 20 to 75 dollars a piece. These places also sell long term water stabilizing chemicals for a couple bucks. The last plastic drum I bought was used to make soy sauce... Just rinse them very well and fill them with the hose over night. Empty them the next day and fill them again with the hose and add the chemical while it's filling... Once it's full simply seal and date your drum. The additive I use guarantees if left sealed, the water is potoble for at least 15 years... Next to ammunition, water is absolutely the most important thing to have. Remember you'll die of thirst before you die of hunger. You'll need water to fight infections and keep you healthy. I have 15 sealed barrels of water in my garage currently with plans for more... Just grab one whenever you can afford to and start collecting.

I believe it is important for a person to "tune in" to their surroundings. I lived in the northeast of the USA most of my life. Today, I am half way around the world and 15 degrees above the equator. Barter items here will be vastly different than at home in my native culture. One example is TP (toilet paper.) Few homes have any out, even for guests. A dipper is provided to wash up after your business is finished. In a "high class" home there will be a bidet but not what a westener will expect. In the Philippines, a bidet is simply the hose setup from the kitchen sink and a wall bracket to hold the nozzle end. Where I live now, rice, dried fish, cheap booze and cigabuts will, for sure be the hot items to trade.

Personally I don't think I'll barter food; I might barter for food if I deplete my stock. So for bartering here are some of the things I'm accumulating: BIC lighters and matches, manual can openers, combs, toothbrushes, soaps, detergents, hand sanitizers, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, lip balm and a lot of other stuff. Most of these items I pick up at the dollar store. I don't think I would barter toilet paper either; it goes fast and who knows how long the situation of when the SHTF will last. Also, you can barter skills. I have my grandmother's sewing machine with the treadle so it works with your feet, not electricity. I have a solar powered rechargeable battery charger; so I'll start getting some rechargeable batteries for barter. And I'll barter for recharging them. Ammo, never barter; in fact, I'm picking up another air rifle because when ammo goes and there are no more firing caps it won't matter how many guns you have even if you have gun powder. Air guns use pellets that are cheap and easily bought now. My solar generator will be for my family only. I hope to keep the freezer full of ice to keep other items cool in the refrigerator when there is no electricity.

Hi City Prepping If you like I will leave a gardening tip when it seems I have something to contribute. This video seed comes into play. I love seed, can't get enough of it. It always makes every top ten list thats out there. The tip is. Have lots of seed and store it well. I have found the best way to store seed is in a ammo box. Air tight , water proof and dark. I store mine in the bottom of the refrigerator ( not the freezer unless its for long , long term. in and out can cause condensation and start seed germinating ) They say corn lasts two years and I just had 100 % germination of ten year old seed. Buy quality seed and store it well. That my tip for this video. Great items to have on hand. I'm loving your videos. They are reminding me of things I have let slide.

Excellent video... I agree with all of your items, seeds however like you mentioned take skill to grow, but not only that, water... Water will be in high demand to area's like high deserts, cities and more. Without water, seeds are pretty useless, but then again if you live in an area with good rain fall, good option. Ammo, agree, I wouldn't trade that to anyone unless I knew the group really well. I also believe you are spot on with precious metals, I can't eat, drink or fix myself with them... Great video

I am a hobby gardener for 15 years. Skill, water and time. I think time is understated. The main point I want to make about seeds is gardening will make you a huge target, unless you're in the countryside. Hungry people will be jumping your fence well before harvest time; and you'll be outside holding tools (not your firearm) for 6-8 weeks minimum until harvest. In my honest opinion, I think it's best to skip the season or two after SHTF and just live off your preps until the herd thins thins out quite a bit.
My other advice is start learning by doing now; and invest in canning. I can grow a glut of corn in 8 weeks but then what. Canning is the answer.

Excellent!! You are 100% correct and I agree with you... I have several people that think they are just going to grow there food, set water tanks and the whole deal, but you are right... They are targets of opportunity. But there are ways to counter these measures, but that will be in my series I am going to do on my channel.... Excellent comment!!

InvisiblePinkUnic0rn canning and a good old fashioned root cellar. buy a few bags of potatoes and carrots and learn how to store them for months on end right now. can you keep them from rotting and safe from mice? your great grandparents could.

Yep. I have to watch my garden constantly. The advantage I have right now is that most who live here don't know what crops in the ground look like. They do recognize the onions though...

You might want to build a brick/stone/cement/geopolymer tower before SHTF, and grow food on top of it. If you can have a well in the tower, all the better! If you can cover the lower part with bushes of things that cause injuries, also better. Poison ivy is also safe to eat (some are), so planting them will get people rashes, they'll think they're weeds, and you can still eat them, or make them into shampoo.

So I know nothing about survival skills, but I stocked up on high value items to either give to others or barter when needed that seemed to go first at the grocery store when supply chain was disrupted- organic/shade grown whole coffee, really nice wine, grass fed/organic meat, cold/pain meds, nice cooling oils like walnut, avocado and organic olive oils. Organic hand harvested whole teas, spices, etc. People really wanted the nicer items, especially when they are unavailable or very high priced.

Lucky for me I already am growing a garden and doing well with it at a very young age and I hope to make it a career, I'll probably be better off than most people.
I think you may have forgotten a few things, things like Rice, Flour, Yeast, Ect are going to be in very high demand just so that people can EAT. I don't think a lot of people have a lot of extra very very basic food items so I'd think that they want them over a lot of these items.

I do not know if I would barter with salt.
Salt would have to much value. besides as ''spice''
It can be used to dehydrate or preserve food, can aid to make flammable gases, or to make and/or preserve fur.....just a few to mention.

Silver is a commodity that can be used. Silver was used in the olden days for our soldiers. You can make some silver collidium with the silver. There is a website on You Tube that teaches you how to make it and use it. Silver collidium will disinfect sores, but if you drink it, it needs to be very lightly because eventually your skin will turn blue and it can not be undone. If I can find the info I'll share it with you. There's also a site that you can buy the stuff.

With recent events and looking at what may be our future I've watched a few of your uploads. One thing I found useful in Iraq was womans tampons and sanitary pads, OK might sound strange to most but fantastic for helping with a deep wound for short term remedy. I've also been buying clotting pads and powder, some large plasters could also be of use in case of infection risk. On that note I have a basic surgical pack, needles, some of these needles are from a pack for a sofa as they are curved and thicker than the normal surgical type. I also added camouflage tarps, many of the thermal emergency sleeping bag for keeping in body warmth and thermal ground sheets. I do like the idea of seeds, looking at longer term survival. Wind up lights and a radio as we could be hard pushed for batteries. Fatwood and waterproof matches along with potassium permanganate is a must for any kit, can't go wrong with some glycerine for the last item will add for instant ignition. The potassium will also do for cleaning wounds when diluted. As for food, a few fishing rods, definitely dried noodles and pastas. The list is endless

Regarding alcohol, I have the equipment and knowledge to make my own wine and beer for barter. I figure if I have a stockpile of alcohol some warlord's thugs will just kill me and take it. But if I know how to make it I might be able to work out a deal where they'll let me live and even pay me (in food, protection, etc.) to keep making it.

A peri bottle for yourself and separate wash cloths for yourself and possibly to trade are an option when there's no toilet paper and Fels naptha laundry bars.
Also consider cloth diapers, wipes and menstrual products with laundry bars for both your household or for trade. Diapers and wipes will run out eventually.
