I’ve always lived below my means with no credit cards and almost no student loans. I just never liked debt. Glad I was ahead of the curve. One thing I would do if I was drowning in debt, file for bankruptcy and live by the envelope theory.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa. Here food prices have gone up almost triple in 4 years. I have a veggie garden and have learned a lot from when I started. I have 1 patch that is going to be a permanent survival sweet potato patch. I am planning a second survival patch as well. I am also going to catch rain water once my hybrid solar system is up and running. My front yard I am turning into a food forest. I exercise with weights 3 times a week, lost 14kg. Chickens or rabbits are also on my future list.

My retirement plan is 99¢ bullet. I'm not even exaggerating.

I like both your Content and Presentation. I am 73 and been a prepped since the early 70's. I tell associates to Prepare but Don't despare. Fear Fads come and go but there are numerous and valid reasons to become more self reliant and to separate from what you deem despicable. I grew up in Los Angeles and split for the old nations after finishing high school. I live out in the middle of a 101 acre homeplace and focus on Peace and self reliant living. There will not be any type of civil war in the U.S. as Americans have lost their true hard core patriotism. A very few may rise up but the majority will sit back and do nothing. Americans have had life to easy for to long and have lost the manly man mind set of the 1780's. You know your old when you realize you were born in the mid 1900's.

Why people can't afford to live is real, But they make their choices for the most part. They want their dream life and will not adapt to what's going on. For example, I'm from So Cal and I decided in 1990 as the housing market started to explode, that it would be hard for me on a decent salary to have a home, wife and kids and live comfortable. So, I found somewhere else that I could do that and moved. I was so in love with the sunny weather, beaches, mountains, rivers, lakes and all that So Cal had to offer. I moved to somewhat the opposite to Seattle. Where sunny days weren't as much, undesirable beaches and great mountains, rivers and lakes. Sometimes you have to get what you need and not what you want. The problem is people are too stubborn with pride to make necessary changes in their life and then want to cry and complain. I don't have much sympathy for someone who is just simply reaping the consequences of not making better decisions with their finances, but with where their heart is in the house or neighborhood they grew up in. Look, if your neighborhood turned into a gang crime infested area where someone is murdered everyday and you can't go out of your house without fear, would you still live there? Or would you make a plan to get out? Why not make a plan today and quit crying and complaining?

How can one develop community when one lives in a neighborhood where everyone just keeps to theirselves? Suggestions highly appreciated!

Does bird flu have a 100 % kill rate? The response does. I lost 60%of my birds from merricks . If the government got involved would've been 100% .
