I’m still rocking my original iPhone SE. but when it eventually dies I will probably get the iPhone 12 mini.
@Jay Chu surprisingly no. My battery is at 88% capacity and I got mine in late 2016. Still runs great and does everything I need it to. Love it. And love all the money it saves me from not having to upgrade year after year.
@@healthandbeauty101 My SE's capacity is at 85% but I do notice very quick drains sometimes (like 100% to 50% with only 30 minutes of use, it's crazy). I will definitely upgrade to 12 mini, but loved my SE for the last 4 years
Same
Hami lol my iPhone X is at 77% and I got it in 2017
Bought my SE in May ’16. Battery down at 82% and barely lasts the day with moderate use. I love it’s size and manageability, so will be treating myself to the 12 Mini Q1 of 2021. The advantages over the SE 2020 well worth the price difference 👍🏻
More like ‘why iPhone 12 Mini is better than SE’ and Face ID is now useless in a pandemic.
Agreed. I think Apple should have added touch screen fingerprint scanner like Android phones have. Especially in this pandemic it's not like you could just use face ID unlock
@@echobird115 I prefer just using a pass code but I’m mentioning the Face ID before anyone else does. And the lightning connector for charging is disappointing. They should’ve just went with USB-C since it’s now because the standard.
@@adamburke4738 right! Type C would be so much better since most tech devices use it now. In other words, more universal
@@echobird115 exactly. Christ, they already use it so why not ditch lightning
u can use face id with mask on there is a trick for it
The SE is not a SE, is an 8!!! the new MINI is a legit SE!
Not budget
Correct 😊
The og se used an older phones body just like the new one does
I was in 2018, Seeing about iPhone SE 2
It was Rumours
It has the same screen as iPhone 12 mini but the size of the phone is the size of iPhone 5s
If they did that
I would’ve bought it
and the SE 1 is a 5S
Love the vid can’t wait for more!!
So the iPhone 12 mini is better then the standard 12 for a lower price with same specs ?
A larger screen and better battery life for $100 more, it is worth to a lot of people. I am getting mini though, but not for it’s cheaper.
That’s subjective. I like big phones and long battery life. That’s why I’m getting the 6.1 inch 12
Yes
@Xenumason the mini definitely has worse battery life according to Apples estimates can’t remember the numbers though. Still the best phone of its size on the market imo. I believe it is also the smallest 5g capable phone too
No
The SE doesn’t have the longest lasting battery, doesn’t have OLED, multiple cameras, faceID..but it has everything I need in a smartphone..and it’s an excellent value for the price. The processor still beats out every android on the market.
My last iPhone was the 5SE and then it’s been Android flagships all the way. Next stop for me will be going back to Apple and the mini......
technically it has 2 cameras
My battery literally lasts me all day I charge my phone at least once a day
I traded a Iphone 7 for the SE 2020, no regrets at all. Price was $250 with my trade in. Battery last all day for me, I don't have time to spend 6-7 hours glued to my phone, thank goodness! Love the SE line of Apple products, best value for $. I much prefer touch to face ID also, will not upgrade to another Iphone without touch id.
Every Android
You are a liar sir, thank you for your time
You are so fast! Great video, thanks!
Very pleased to hear that many still prefer Touch ID. I’m so vintage I even like bezels especially over that awful notch
I have a android 1 you guys are poor
it looks a fraction smaller then the iPhone 7 which is perfect in my opinion, considering the mini is all screen. 5.4 vs 4.7.
Perfect size also.
Yeah it seems perfect
Same size with bigger screen, awesome!!

@TheAppleCircle. Good review. And very smart to compare these two products. Question. Are you limited to charging the 12 mini with the mag-ring, only? Thank you.
Very well explained! Thanks!
I love how ppl still dont understand what the original se’s purpose.
Its a budget phone reusing older design/parts but updated internals. Period
The fact that the se was smaller than the 6 series had nothing to do with the se trying to be a smaller phone. It just so happened that the manufacturing process still had enough resources to produce something in the iphone 5 form factor and rather than keep selling older phones, they repackaged and rebranded.
So the se 2020 is true to the purpose, reusing old parts/design with updated internals to sell a cheap phone.
Exactly, recycled from IPhone 4
The SE is also a great 2nd (3rd?) phone for gig workers (Or Uber/Lyft/Eats/DoorDash/GrubHub etc) that like you use a separate phone for work, or even for those who multi-app and like to run multiple phones for multiple apps.
Using an XR as my main phone currently and my old 8 Plus as a work phone. Thinking of getting the SE to replace my 8 Plus now (available from Walmart for AT&T for $249 which is an excellent price) and waiting until the 13 (or whatever comes out next year) so I can pick up the 12 Pro for a reduced price.
If the mini had Touch ID it’d be a easier choice honestly
I was in the same boat as you last year when I ditched my iPhone 7 for iPhone 11 with faceID. Honestly, I was shocked at how much I like the faceID. It is very intuitive and works well from many angles.
yup. im not moving past my 8 plus without touchid. i had the iphone x and i loved the smaller form-factor, but faceid SUCKS. it kills productivity. iphone 12 mini is the first one which tempted me to upgrade, but im waiting for the return of touchid. maybe next year.
@@nuncaleite I don’t believe Touch ID is coming back. The 11 is is really good with Face ID. Never had any issues.
I havent used an iphone since the 3gs, which lasted for 6 years surprisingly, or maybe i loved it too much to go off if, but my experience of face ID on the ipad pro has been super pleasant. Ive seen my friends raising their iphones to a certain angle for it to work, maybe on the older models, which looked ridiculous. Hwever on the ipad pro, its immediate, i dont have to position it in any way, and if the attention thing is disabled, it unlocks even if u arent looking at it directly. It works brilliantly. With glasses, without glasses, no difference, its accurate, and is super fast. Im sure the mask will make a difference, but so does a wet finger on touch id.

It's really really small.
I’m waiting for a mini with a telephoto lens. Maybe in 5 years? Lol!
It is nice. I like the modern design and technology. I have the iPhone SE 1st gen so I like small phones and this 12 mini looks like a good one. Not too excited about the price, but I can't expect all those 12 mini specs for $400.
You can. next year when 2020 android flagship prices fall.
The iPhone SE 2016 is like the phone equivalent of the Intel Sandy Bridge CPU architecture, accidentally way too damn good for its time and still viable years after their releases. SE 2016 is still adequate for every task most users needs at fast speeds, anything more is just marketing and conspicuous consumption.
Came to the comments to see interesting ones and realized there weren’t any so now I’m writing this cause I’m disappointed I’m to early
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Alden Buyer no I’m going towards early mate. It’s a saying lol dumb*ss
It’s just full of people complaining about every little thing
Lol
SE has the Touch ID, both my wife and I love that and hate the Face ID. We waited for 12 because we were hoping for return of Touch ID. Guess we will get a SE.
I have the se 2020 and honestly it’s a great phone. Only downside would be dark mode (apps for that) and battery life but it isn’t bad if your a casual user
agree with you
I hope that they take the iPhone 7 /8 Plus body and make an SE Plus!
@butthole(R J) I saw your videos and they suck
Good video!!
I just bought my SE back in June, if I knew this was coming out I would’ve waited 🤦🏽
Well this are old news, iphone mini “rumors” have been around since last year
@@GReds08 the size compared to he SE wasn’t made as apparent though and as a fan of smaller phones I would have wanted to know that first!
And u have to shed more money too. If I am not correct iPhone SE is priced at 399$ and mini at starting price 699$
You saved urself from extra $300 here. See the bright side & be happy
Exactly!!
300 $ difference is a lot, specially for a 399 $ phone lol.
It's called a mini but it is still a huge "phone"... I'm keeping my SE 2016 until I find something the same size or smaller. I'd still be using my Motorola SLVR L7 or RAZR V3xx if the analog service was still viable. Carrying a tablet around and calling it a phone is ludicrous.
Awesome report thanks!!!
That screenshot is the only image of iphone 12 there is.
I don't need face ID but I want that wide lens. but still I'm not sure if that's worth the price difference from SE.
If that's what you want, go with android.
Can't justify one more lens for double the price. A13 chip is powerful enough for its purpose for many years to go.
I have been using my iphone 6S for the fifth years now, and also a macbook pro, so I will see how long I can keep using my 6s until it breaks, or I will just get the SE
I have the se it is very fast I think just go with the SE
@@aksg9932 you said it in the most perfect way possible
FaceTime has been keeping me in touch with my family during this pandemic, so a better quality front camera and screen are tipping me towards the 12. Thanks for your video comparison AND for including specs in your notes!
You’re forgetting that OLED is also more power efficient. The mini screen is OLED (SE is IPS), and this also suggests better battery life on the mini.
No, because one is 4.7, other is 5.4. Oled can't compensate that much even in dark mode. So the battery would be slightly better (if the same size) due to the more power efficient processor.
Apple’s greediness and arrogance... No charger and no headphones to “save the planet”? Do they think we’re numb? How can they explain the fact that buying two additional boxes is gonna save the earth?
I’ve never used any Apple headphones supplied with any of my I phones as I use much better and comfortable set and use my faster iPad Pro charger.... so for me I don’t want them
@Lian Fian don’t be a stupid boy.....
Like every move Apple does, the rest of the industry will follow suit. Then everyone likes it as a good idea.
Same for me.. I‘m using Apple products since the iPhone 4, so I also have plenty off never used EarPods and Poweradapter.. they always stay in the box.. Thanks to this, Apple is actually saving resources.. But thats just my opinion.
@@maxkrs6 cos all the chargers that came with the box are damn slow
The question is should we wait for iPhone SE2021 that should come out in April next year or get the iPhone 12 Mini that will be out next month?
I can’t believe I just bought SE because of the small size and they release the IPhone 12 mini. But the touch ID make it less disappointed 😔
With what you saved you can buy an iPad.
i agree with you. very good the 12 mini but i need touch id on the down bezels or in display but not on the on-off button.
If you really wanted you could trade in for money off
I had the iphone se 2020 but I lost it/ was stolen a few weeks ago and now I don’t know if I should get the mini or the se again. I’d maybe like to actually upgrade instead of getting the same thing but the mini costs quite a bit more... any suggestions on what I should do?
I have the new SE and I’ve been using it for about 5 months and it’s been great! I also got the Product Red variant too. If I had to pick between the 12 mini or the SE, I would actually pick the SE just because I like Touch ID cuz it’s faster than Face ID and your password
I have the se because it’s like any of the newer phones but with a button which I love way better than Face ID
Same
How's the battery...
especially during this pandemic
How’s ur SE’s battery life in daily use? :D
I’m watching this on a first generation SE and I love this phone. Will probably be getting a new SE soon. Thanks for the break down.
@Jay Chu no
Buy a 12 mini instead! Doing the same
@Mike That is a matter of personal preference, that absolutely does not make SE better at all. 12 is going to be the best iPhone yet in terms of almost all specs, +it will also be the only iPhones with 5g capabilities. SE has pretty much nothing on the 12, unless of course you prefer the home button and the touch ID, which is also perfectly alright
@@yourfavouriteusername Hey next year it will be, don't get the 12, the 13 is now the best in terms of specs, etc. I got the Iphone SE 2020 for $250 with my trade in. I prefer touch ID, most places don't have 5G yet. Even though, "shockingly" , the newest Iphone is the greatest Iphone ever, the 12 mini is not $400 better than the Iphone SE 2020, not even close.
@@jayh40515 Hey Jay, thanks very much for the info. Also, I'm thinking of upgrading to 12 mini from my iPhone 6s, which seems to work well for me because they're similar in size and build and 12 mini will obviously be far better. Would you recommend the same? I used to use the SE1, but that one apparently got spoilt so I switched back to my 6S. But now, my 6S also has a crack filled screen and I'll be heading to University (shifting countries!) this Dec-Jan, so it is essential I get a new and latest model phone for the next 2-4 years. In such a case, I feel like the 12 mini works perfectly for me, because it is more updated and latest than the SE2020. And yes ofcourse, I'm not saying that the 12 mini is 400$ better than the SE2 either, I'm just saying that I'm willing to spend that much money in order to go for the latest upgrade that will last me my entire time at university (about 4 years). I would be glad to hear your thoughts on the same
I have iPhone X bought it in 2017. I'm confused iPhone Mini or Pro Max? Which one will have better resale value and future proof?
So is the mini and new se the same physical size? I want a small phone and have the original se
SE2 is a keeper until 5G rollout is complete.
We cannot use yet
True, I have 5g but won’t use it for next year (pandemic) so, I’ll probably be in home using WiFi , so nope..
I will finally be upgrading from my 6S, this seems like a great time to do with with OLED on the mini.
Very disappointed the current Apple Team just do not recognize what is perfect in design of the iphone 5 & old SE! it is not about small , its about the measurement, hand feeling everything as a combination! That design can even sell at premium price and call "classic vintage or whatever nicer name" but they choose to call it mini & sell it at cheaper price. Thanks alot!
The iPhone 12 Pro max have the same boxy design and it's definitely premium
my 2016 SE just stopped making it reviving calls because the carrier towers are dripping 3g and i can’t force it onto LTE.
so i got the 2020 se even though it’s huge.
But, it’s making a horrible electrical shorting noise.
the store told me the mini was bigger than the 2020se.
i’m going back to figure out what to do.
I still have my iPhone SE (2016) and will be pre-ordering the iPhone 12 mini. I've been waiting for a smaller iPhone and the SE2 was a bit too big for me. The upgraded camera is also a must. I'm ecstatic!
Kept my se in mint condition since April so it looks like an upgrade to 12 mini for me thanks for the video bigger screen and Face ID is the things that swung it for me
Wait, Iphone 12 mini will have great battery life???
Hopefully unlike the se 2020
Better than the SE but not as good as the bigger phones.
Iphone se 20 also have a good battery tho!
@A2Z Comps so i assume that you play your phone 24hours a day tho or maybe you are the gaming person?? But for me,, se 20 still good phone with the price and plus it come with 5w charger in the box 😁😁😁😆
I am sticking to 11 because of battery - been waiting for 12 to change, because of battery - staying at 11
SE or Mini I still cannot decide. However I really appreciated this video. Thank you for the perspective and the information.
More than 5 year waiting that mini beast i ll buy for sure...
Right ????if only they would make the power button like the 5s and make a matte black option😍
I love it it just needs the touch iD hopefully next year
Nice
I just bought the SE in April because I wanted a smaller phone but NOW I have a lot of thinking to do. Great video. Thank you for this.
Wish they included the touch id in iphone 12 power button just like the ipad air
I’ve been waiting for a smaller phone ! About damn time 😁
My 6s broke a few months ago so I got the SE. However I’m selling it to family and getting the 12 mini instead
I currently have the 2020 SE. Not 100% sure I want to upgrade just yet.
@John Smith Just kinda expensive .
@kovacs Because of the 12 mini most likely having better battery life. And more screen space .
@kovacs you can trade in your SE for up to $210 if it’s in good condition.
@kovacs sell the SE Gen2 secondhand should get more than the $210 depending on capacity size...they retrain their value unlike the X,11 etc and use those funds to offset the costs if you decide to upgrade to 12mini.
@Mike i agree I'm just saying if he chooses to upgrade that's the best way to do it... i use the apple smart battery pack only when traveling via train or airplane the battery on se is pretty bad and im not a heavy user. i switched from se from the 11pro
Which color to get though
Great comparison I’m gonna get it soon
The 12 Mini, right? iPhone SE sucks.
@@iUseAndroid2024 yeah
@Sshsh HHshsh It’s an old, outdated design and the swipe gestures are way easier to use than the home button and it’s literally just an iPhone 8 that they gave a new name to. It’s probably slightly better than the iPhone 8 but compared to flagship iPhones like the iPhone X, 11, and 12, it sucks. It’s still way better than lame Android phones but for a modern iPhone it basically sucks.
@Sshsh HHshsh there’s a reason the SE is nicknamed the clown phone bud
Nerdy-Wan Kenobi the a13 inside the se is gonna future proof it tho. great value imo

How is faceID an upside from TouchID? xD that sounded like a denial argument, like the ones used for no headphone port
I'm pretty sure a lot of us wanted a mini with pro specs. Call it the iPhone 12 Pro Mini in a 5.4in or at least make a pro option in 5.4in.
This is probably something they would do later - but for now battery life might be a concern for a pro mini - if the phone is smaller it might be difficult to maintain the expected battery life with the kind of apps that are recommended for pro users given the battery would then also need to be physically smaller, but retain all features / performance.
Maybe next year if the mini is successful.
@@MKu64 I'd love to see the mini with all the features and abilities of the max with Touch ID as well. Perhaps the extra zoom camera functions, extra ram, dolby recording all could be automatically disabled unless connected to an external battery or wall charger via the MagSafe connector. If one is trying to achieve the highest quality images and video you should be using gimbals anyway. Just need sufficient replaceable external batteries. Even ones that just clip onto the phone itself like that wallet accessory does. Knowing apple they'd price it at $1000 and still only give 128 like the others. If they are trying to encourage independent film making with the phone they need bigger onboard storage as well. Ah to dream.......
This new mini is just a better version of the iPhone 4 😂😂😂
Omg I don’t Care🙃
What is the size of iphone 12 mini?
Oh and don't forget that if its your first phone to add in the price of a power brick (a USB-C one if you want to use the included cable)
What with the low frame rate on the edition? Weird
I'm still on a 6S. Hated the notch and hated the big phones, my battery is shot now. Not sure what I'm going to do, it doesn't look like they are going to do away with the notch completely for another 3 years or so and I can't go another 3 years with a 2 hour battery life.
You can replace the battery
@@Jj-qz2ob I filed a claim 2 years ago and got another 6S. Now it’s failing again, makes no sense the battery becomes useless only after 2 years.

Bruh, the thumbnail one is what I wanted. Small
I think it would be a fun experience to have a LiDAR sensor on the iPhone 12 mini instead of the second camera. A wide angle and an ultra wide angle? Why?

The S10e is truly a great phone but it’s getting older and it would make sense for its current users to switch to the mini.
I think you have to mention like this “I phone se 2020” cuz we have two versions SE 2016 and SE 2020
I have an SE so I use an otter box to make it seem bigger which it does. So my phone looks about the same size as an X or newer phone. So to me the size doesn’t matter too much although I would like to have a bigger wider screen.

That should've been SE 2020's design. But hey it's Apple.
aaaah i cannot disagree.... this, with an a13, would've been the 'correct' se2020

Lars T. I agree. Same here.
@@maxonite A lot of people have been saying that. That they still want that home button there and the Touch ID so I guess despite of all the criticisms on Apple by not including a charger in the box they will do well. Waste of money
why is it wonky? Mine works perfectly.
it sucks. i had the iPhone X and went back to 8 Plus. i liked the gestures and no button, but no touchid was a deal-killer for me (and i think for many). faceid even when it works perfectly, its not the same thing, certainly not a substitute. no matter how fast a faceid is, im still faster when taking my phone from my pocket with my finger already on the button.
@@nuncaleite exactly. Or when I wake up and grab my phone and it doesn’t recognize me because my half closed eyes. Or when I have to lower my mask in public just to have it work. so wheres the phone? why you dont have it?
This phone reminds me of the iPhone 4. Same design it’s not new on the outside. I’m good with my 11pro Max for a few years more.

I’m going for the 12 mini
I hope they continue with this trend until iPhone 14/15/16 when the time comes that I finally retire my 10s Max lol
Unless it has a fingerprint button I won’t use it. Can’t use face recognition while driving a car. Plus middle of night it doesn’t work well so I will never use/ buy anything with face recognition
It does work well at night, but you’re right... while driving, it isn’t as effective
Should you be using it while driving?
You really think i would take the SE2 instead iPhone mini? i m waiting since iPhone 6 for a small device now.i should buy iPhone 8s in 2020???
In my opinion iphone se, xr, or mini is right for the budget, 8 is outdated (specs)
@@GReds08 SE2020 and XR are outdated: no 5G, LCD display and (bad batteries). I still want to use my phone correctly in 4 or 5 years. thats not possible with iPhone 8s and XR
@@Raphinho89 im still using my 8 Plus (from 2017) now perfectly. In fact, it's faster than the iPhone X and has great battery life. Plus I have TouchID and 3DTouch, something no new iPhone have had since. The new 12 Mini looks interesting, but no TouchID is a deal breaker. We still don't have full speed and coverage for LTE/4G, 5G is something one should start thinking about in about 2 years, doesn't even change anything from LTE anyway since nothing we do on a phone needs that much speed and no websites services can serve that speed to everyone anyway.
@@nuncaleite I don't know in which part of the world you live... i'm in Switzerland 🇨🇭 zurich to be exact.. We have 5G since two years ago here... But it doesnt matter in 4 or 5 years big part of the world will have 5G connection
I have the 2nd gen SE and would like the 12 mini. If I stay with the SE, I'll still be more than happy with it. I've owned the 11, 11 pro, and 11 pro Max... form factor (smaller size) is huge for me since I always have my phone on me and am very active. Touch ID is a huge plus in the day and age of zombie COVID apocalypse. Great video.
Coming from an iPhone 7 the mini seems like the natural choice in the line up but then again the new iPhone 12 size shouldn’t be too bad?
FaceID is the deal breaker for me in the nee iPhones 🤨
