People make it an issue because its an issue. Its an issue because apple refuses to support modern photocalls when communicating between an iphone and an android phone, meaning that the messages are sent unencrypted and take longer to receive (although not really noticeable). They have refused to modernise until recently forced to by the EU.

@@sylussquared9724 It’s not an issue. Apple along with any other company has the right to control their technology the way they see fit as long as it’s not effecting customers illegally. If Apple doesn’t want to allow photocall between Android then they can do that. Same thing applies to Google too. If Google doesn’t want to allow photocall with iPhones or use some Google exclusive technology with iPhone users then they have the right to do that in my opinion. You all need to stop complaining about stupid stuff.

My first IT job was a computer technician at Computerland.
I got to work on the Apple Lisa in the workshop.
I was disgusted I could not do component repairs on simple modules like power supplies for the markings on the components being shaved off and no access to service repair manuals.
I was further disgusted at the power supply module replacement cost.
I was also very disappointed that Apple turned it's back on Steve Wozniac open ended design and the whole industry of peripherals his design created with the Apple // & /// products, to such an extent I dis-appointed apple from my choice of brand.

I think the best way to break a monopoly is not to force it to break apart but remove the protections it relies on. Remove Apple's ability to sue for breaking their walled garden and you'll find people developing ways to sideload apps, reverse-engineer iMessage, develop better drivers for Apple peripherals.
Sure, Apple will fight back and patch whatever exploits let you sideload apps. And then people will find new ones. It will be a constant cat-and-mouse game, but I think that is the best way to solve the issue while respecting Apple's freedom to design a product as they see fit.

I find the bigger issue, not really addressed in this video or perhaps even not in the lawsuit, is the lack of competition for apps. Only one app store with has a big 30% fee going to Apple. I suppose the same is true on Android. They need to allow different app stores to be able to sell apps. Then we may see some real competition in the sofware market on these devices.

The BackDoor problem with the M3 chips is a really bad problem for Apple admittedly, but its also a good thing too in a way, because Apple has been made aware of it now and will resolve it hopefully with their next gen of "M" chips. Sadly as I'm sure you're aware that nothing in tech is totally unhackable, even Android users with their Samsung Galaxy Tabs & Phones running the latest Snapdragon chips will get the same treatment sooner or later down the line, because sadly hackers don't discriminate anymore, if they can't get pleasure from hacking you on a software level they'll try to get you on a hardware level, Which is I'm sure you'll agree is a very sad and pathetic thing to do to anyone. so if people think they're safe with a Snapdragon chip, think again, they just haven't tried it ....Yet .

Apple could easily resolve this, especially with iPhones and iPads. Firstly, Apple could offer EXPANDABLE storage. That would allow users to buy an iPhone with minimal onboard storage and upgrade as required. The upcharge for more onboard storage is obscene compared to the cost of a microSD card. (I know Samsung is doing the same regarding storage.)
Another improvement could be the inclusion of a high-quality DAC and a headphone jack. This would address a common frustration among users who find it inconvenient to use external dongles or adapters for their audio needs.
Apple Music just started to support hi-res audio, but not a single iPhone or iPad supports hi-res without buying a separate dongle. How does a user charge their device and listen to hi-res music simultaneously? My 6 or 7-year-old LG V30 Android phone has a robust DAC, expandable storage and a headphone jack! Also, let Android users have iMessage and Facetime available to them. A fellow just developed an app that would talk to iMessage. Apple's response? Sue the dev! Setting aside the seamlessness of the iOS ecosystem, a user has to WORK for the hardware or adapt to it for the reasons I mentioned earlier. (Can you imagine having a Sony TV and being forced to buy a Sony Blu-ray Player and a Sony sound system if you wanted them all to work together?) Frankly, I'm surprised it's taken this long for Apple to be sued. The constant changing of the power connection. 30 pin to lightning, etc. Changing sim card sizing, removing the headphone jack and on and on. Let's not talk about the iPhone 6(?) degrading debacle. I was flabbergasted when Apple admitted slowing down your device as it aged. I was at a local Best Buy when this happened. I saw customers upset at their carrier, insisting they be allowed an early upgrade. I asked the rep what phone people were upgrading to? He said, "iPhones." I was gobsmacked. That's like buying a car, which slowly loses power while consuming more fuel as it ages. Here's the thing: I'd LOVE to be able to love an iPhone. I refuse to buy hardware that won't adapt as my needs change.

I think that it is ridiculous to make any manufacturer have to produce a product that is compatible with an unknown amount of technology. For example, texting android vs texting iPhone...one is clearly better, iPhone to iPhone but you can still text message any cell phone on the planet...even dumb phones. They do not make it impossible to do it outside the ecosystem and it works rather well so why should Apple be responsible for making that outside experience the same as what they are responsible for which is what they own, their devices, their software and the updates they receive. So what if these awesome add ons are great with one thing but not another? It isn't Apple's fault, it is the fault of the manufacturer or designer or engineer behind those other non Apple devices. Apple built devices and software that work with other things they have built...they have standardized also and have made allowances for changes like USB C to accommodate outside influences to keep the companies products competitive in our existing society. It works, why should Apple be responsible for making a product that works amazing with every possible device that links to it? That is ridiculous. Even the human population is not like this. For example, our bodies can heal and repair from many traumas and illnesses. There is a certain part of the population that will succumb to those traumas and illnesses too but overall, we are resilient enough to for the most part as a species, survive. It should be up to the makers of the associated technologies to find out how to be compatible with both ecosystems if we are talking just the biggest two...Apple and Android. Many companies have done this and made decent profit.
So those that buy Apple and complain that it won't work with everything...my car does not work with my sofa but I don't complain. It is not the responsibility of my car manufacturer nor is it the responsibility of my sofa maker to ensure compatibility with the infinite world that they could never foresee and are not financially responsible for. I mean, I can move my sofa with my car so I should be satisfied about the fact that is possible and not complain that I am not getting a massage while my car moves my sofa. It works with other things. That to me says a lot yet our own government wants to be a baby and say its how it works with things it doesn't own. Then the government should hold itself to that same standard and offer free services for the citizens of this country so we can be completely compatible with all other countries and possible devices we encounter. That means free health care, free education and not charging any person for harvesting sun power and quit going to war over resources or differences in government styles. Democracy supports differences so we should respect that other places are not democracies. Our people had to rise up and fight to be where we are so will their own citizens if they want different. It might be harder to do the more time passes and the governments get more powerful but I digress.
It should be unconstitutional to enforce a company to have universal compatibility just like it should be unconstitutional to provide any company with immunity from persecution for products they produce that people interact with. So this is the same thing but in reverse. Big pharma can't be sued for killing people with COVID vaccines that were dangerous and not vaccines but therapies when they were supposed to be compatible and safe with all citizens who were forced to take them but were not. So why should Apple be sued for making its ecosystem so strong that they hold the market share with the invention of their devices that work so well with all their other devices and work with other devices but with diminished qualities? We are in a democracy that gets to choose the products and services we use. We are poor at selecting the best companies to buy from or use services from like Facebook or Google due to them collecting all of our digital data when connected from their devices or software. Facebook just flat out steals because they might own the website but they are collecting data from every website you go to forever after logging into Facebook and so they are an infectious virus. They take that data and sell it repetitively for an infinite amount of time. You can opt out of being tracked and increase the privacy so Facebook does not have that ability which is a lie because I have done the highest removal of Facebook tracking and they are still collecting my data and the data of anybody that uses that browser. Its why I use a different downloaded browser that cannot visit Facebook so it cannot be infected with their stealing malicious algorithm.
Apple protects its users from this and you know this is exactly why the government is suing. They want to have easier access to Apple customer data for use whenever they feel like it because every other company has given over our data to them. Even so, they still get the data using crafted software designed to break the firewalls that protect Apple customers so I don't see why they are making such public waste of our tax dollars for things that most citizens, you know, the bosses of the government don't care about. I would rather see the tax dollars we give to the government not go to ridiculous black projects that hurt innocent people and have the CIA disbanded for its crimes against humanity. Then we can feed everybody, give healthcare to people...the real healthcare that works and not this crap pharmaceutical model developed in the 30's that has proven it only works for short periods of time. We need border protection so Americans aren't paying for the world to live off of us because our own citizens are dying from lack of services that they pay for as other non citizens are getting those services and exhausting working programs to a point of bust. We need to stop welfare for simply having children and make people work but ensure there are jobs for people. We need to enforce laws that protect citizens and not hurt them. Wasting their money is hurting them.

That is one thing I am honestly baffled. I don't live in USA. Where I live, it is the norm to use Whatsapp instead of iMessage or Google Messages. So with that in mind and other alternatives that are more popular than Apple's own solutions, that means Apple's marketshare over here is actually pretty tiny. There simply isn't enough reason to use what Apple offers, especially considering how the "Apple tax" over here is way too steep and expensive. So to call it monopoly really depends on the market we are talking about. In the US? Perhaps. But across the globe? Not likely.
That's how things work here. But it may be an insight at what could be of Apple in the US if the DoJ succeeds in forcing Apple to open up and be more friendly to competition. And being completely honest, I don't like what the future may have in store for Apple. It's going to destroy them bit by bit.

Ever since the bubble color thing everything in tech world goes down WTF I love Apple just because they’re not android or Microsoft and I can actually physically use Apple tech without debilitating urge to throw it at a wall like I have wanted with other tech devices when they constantly fail my trust.
Also yes while my iPhone is slowly going out and my watch is leaning towards end and I have the second hand MacBook for extra two years above its life and it’s getting louder fans or my AirPods wanna take a break from me so far Apple has been the only tech company which products I have not even considered to toss out just for the annoyance they can be when they’re lived in a bit over the regular shelf period (and my moms last years android is getting on my nerves more than my physically dying decade old iPad I also got from a second hand tech store about four years ago and many years above its shelf life so that alone is saying things about a tech company)

Government should stay out of things that aren’t their business just because of peer pressure from people with less understanding the depths.

Apple has had data breaches in the past and many exploits in their OSs. It is not necessarily more secure than a *Good* android phone and I really hate this assumption and having that sense of false true security. It is a very secure OS, however Google pixels also do a bang up job here.
Apple recently supported RCS, but it would be nice if they had a different color for that, and if they could offer Imessage and other services like that on competing platforms. I am a person who switched from Apple to Google pixels and the thing I hate the most is people wanting me to use an Apple service I can't use on Android because apple won't offer them to us. The common thing people tell me is "just get an iPhone" but I don't want one, I just want that one particular service from Apple on my preferred device. You can use Google services on iPhone, why not the other way around? If your family or what not relies on a certain service, you feel forced into buying and using a phone from Apple you might not want to use (like in my case) and that is the problem I have with Apple.

Does the government not know that more android phones are sold than any Apple iPhone? I mean seriously… This thinking that Apple has a monopoly in the space is ridiculous… if a company designs and develops a product or line of products that are meant to be tightly integrated, then that should be allowed. Also a company should be allowed to say what happens on their platforms, it’s ridiculous to think that anyone and everyone should be allowed to play a game when the people wanting to play have continued to break the rules. Sure Apple could forgo 30% cut to a lower percentage, but even still, Apple should be allowed to dictate who gets to play in their garden.

    • @TamasKiss-yk4st
      @TamasKiss-yk4st Před měsícem

The 30% cut can't be their main problem, since that is the standard from the begining, and actually even the Epic "cat fight" prooved that is not the main problem (not with Apple, but compare the Steam renevue and the Epic store renevue in the past 4 years.. and Steam still cut the 30%.. and Epic only cut 12%, but still the users and the developers are on the 30% cut platform even after 4 years..). Also there are another US company, the Twitch what cut 65% and only left 35% for the streamer.. so actually Apple (not just them, everyone else like Playstation store, Xbox store, Steam store, Google Playstore etc) is give double amount of that 35% with the 70%..
And the main problem is that, one of the main limitation of the innovation is that, if you can't do what you want.. like check the 5 years of 120Hz on Android, they immedietly throwed away their "best" after Apple showed there is a way not to lose 2 hours of battery time with 120Hz, but even gain that 2 hours as extra..
Same with the camera, Apple just increased the 12MP camera lens in the past few years, but they already give you an options to shoot the 24MP default images, what even the 200MP camera lens Android can't offer, they still lilited to 12MP.. If the software and hardware in the same hand, it gives way more possibility like when you need to work with multiple company together to make something.

Apple bores me these days. Stale, sterile, noncompetitive, and consumer unfriendly. It has lost its rebel creative vibe and turned into the very thing Apple use to mock. I stopped upgrading my mobile and moved to alternative workstations at my business. I also sold my shares that I've held for well over 25 years because I can see a scary fall on the horizon... Economic failure is not because of its deep relationship with Government & the surveillance state (these things dont help). The failure is coming because of its stratospheric market valuation which is over leveraged on growth and compared to they tiny profits expressed to investors in dividends. It takes more than 170 years to earn back the cost of a share from its dividend yield which is crazy... New revenue sources (such as electric car & VR Metaverse) failed to appear. Now that mobile growth rate is well and truly over, and already in decline there is a 95% fall just to bring the company back to earth and a fair 15 year PE for investors. That kind of fall has significant ramifications on the company and I don't see it being good for customers, supply chains, staff or shareholders... Say a Prayer...

There are several issues with this statement, all of which stem from the assumption that making these changes will NOT affect the experience for everyone. Many of the changes would require a vast amount of resources to be diverted to enabling others to integrate with Apple's products instead of improving their products. Apple's software quality has already suffered in recent years (on their own) and this will only make it worse. There is a BIG difference between making your own products integrate and making those integrations robust enough for others to integrate, a lot more work is required.

It's similar like blaming Facebook for not let you send e-mails from the messenger.. those also works on different ways (the messenger and the e-mail). And the green buble is just a feedback for the user the data sent as an internet data, and not as SMS, because if you send a message to a none Apple user phone, the message still arrive, this was the main reason why they created it, to make able to get and answer to the SMS on your WiFi only iPad (the first few gen had no SIM card possibility)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I remember that commercial. It was lame.
Apple’s software and eco system plain and simply works. There are issues with some websites and browsing that Apple just wont open. It’s has to do something with Safari’s base software. Apple requires all web browser companies who are on Apple’s eco system to use Safari’s base then build their browser from it. In Europe Apple can not longer make Web browser companies use the Safari base program. But only on IPhone. No changes to IPad. I’ve read that outside the U.S no one cares about the green/blue text message crap. Outside the U.S. majority of people use Whatapp. The article state they don’t have issues we see using WhatsApp. Apple’s phone have become boring looking. Android has foldable phones and all sorts of cool features.
I’ve read Apple cannot make there software work with a foldable phone. I doubt that. Apple doesn’t think we need one. Lost sales on IPads. I’d love to have a foldable phone then I wouldn’t have to carry an IPad and phone. Apple just needs to be a little more friendly.
Apple has 57% with IPhone in the U.S.
September 2023 Apple had only 28% market share. Pretty sad.
