Neil always sounds like a 9 year old telling his mom how he scored the winning point in a final basketball match.
Driven by cosmic adrenaline
True 😘
Cosmic Adrenaline would be a good band name
"Driven by cosmic adrenaline" is the best way to say it lol
The way he had to apologize for poking Stephen out of excitement is 100% 9 year old.
NdT can talk about potato and I'd still find it interesting. He is the best educator ever
I love how Neil is 100% capable of having a deep voice full of gravitas but he is too excited about science to use it.
I never miss anything with Neil in it. He was hella cracked out on science today and it.. was so badass.
dude is the best
@@ThomasJHorrego ❤️👏
hella whoa dude yeah
He's hella cracked out on something!! Science is only what he's talking about.
He's a fool with an inflated ego. He fails even in his own field.
If you can't get interested in Science after listening to NDT, there's just no hope. I LOVE his enthusiasm and candor😁
Sam, you should get out more.
Don't listen to the plebians, SN. NDT is a hella guy.
Science is cool unlike Norman Plombe who sucks.
I adored his mentor, Carl Sagan, but he is so much more charismatic.
Absolutely, he's the best!! Got to see him live just before the covid shutdown & he was as amazing as ever!!👏🏼💖✌🏼
Like the universe itself, Neil deGrasse Tyson’s enthusiasm for it, is massive! 🔭✨
I would have loved to have had him for a teacher
We love to see it
Infinite and exponentially expanding.
...because he has the mind of a child with water on the brain.
@@mikemondano3624 what a hater troll you are

That was ******* cathartic ❤

😅 gold!
This is ironic being posted from someone with the handle Gemini.
@@warriorscholar41 ya think?
@@warriorscholar41 Gemini is the name given to a constellation someone envisioned in the patterns of stars you see at night. That doesn’t mean he thinks it has any influence over anyone’s life. Gemini came before astrology - where do you think astrology got it from?
Neil is so much fun to watch. So much enthusiasm, passion and great humor. Thank you Stephen for this fun evening.
My favorite Colbert guest. He's so funny when he geeks out with Stephen.
Neil is always a treat to see...
his enthusiasm for science always takes me back in my mind to when I was just a little girl reading about how laser technology worked... There is just that *LOVE OF LEARNING* you can clearly see...
Wow, he has a deep grudge against astrology! Love that.
@@MonkeyJedi99 - Rightly so - astrology is ridiculous, and any adult who believes it is likely also religious, afraid of "ghosts" and engages in a lot of _magical thinking._ You need to do a lot of mental gymnastics to rationalize any of them.
He's literally taking over where Sagan left off. Sagan had it easier because the majority of people believed in science then. I've looked at some of the mathematics Sagan did to help the JPL in launching and sending satellites. He tried to explain some of the math behind it....tried. deGrasse has the exact same astrophysics knowledge, even more so since Sagan theorized about exoplanets but they had never found any yet. If you asked deGrasse, he could explain the math they have to take in consideration (such as the gravitational pull on Earth from our own sun and using spectrometers, etc.), but he does try to keep it simple so that even someone like me can understand.
If you go back to the last time he was on the show he explained the difference between established or old science (the Earth isn't flat) to new science which hasn't been established yet and is still being tested. You cannot imagine how much trouble this creates. Nutrition and physiology is a field that is still not understood about metabolism but yet millions are led to believe in crackpots like Dr. Oz. Or to hit closer to home, DST. People argue with me that this absolutely establish science, but it's based mostly on psychology and again physiology, sorry to pop your bubble, are hardly established sciences.
I mostly lost that child like glee at discovering stuff as a kid. Neil's love of astronomy and science is so obvious and refreshing. He helps me rediscover that child like glee.
@@rabbit251 In the past, people were a bit embarrassed by being uneducated or illiterate. Now, there are too many people that think they are experts and demand that their voice be given equal weight to people that have spent their adult lives studying and researching. A five minute Google search does not mean you know anything about anything; especially something as difficult as science. As a corollary, imagine going up to a life long farmer and saying, "I've never farmed in my life but I've 'done my own research' on Google and will now tell you everything you are doing wrong."
He's such a Mensch! Warm, funny, erudite and relatable. His passion for his work perpetually renders him 9 years old, a boy so excited that he can neither find the words to express himself nor contain himself long enough to do so.
Mensch just means human in German - there is no deeper meaning to it.
@@philipkoene5345 In Yiddish, a Mensch is a good person.

God ya can't beat Neil, he's just brilliant, so intelligent but in a really entertaining way, he's not above others and he wants to share his knowledge, that makes a good man
I always LOVE bathing in Neil’s fountain of knowledge, but Steven I think you know the universe ( or at least most parts of it) would just as soon let you get out of it’s way.
He's so smart...yet can't figure out how to close his own book lol (I'm joking btw. I really do love NDT and think he's crazy smart)
4:55 I laughed so hard when he said "Stars are just scattered across space" and became exasperated.
We was so fed up 🤣🤣
I love Neil’s energy. He feels so enthusiastic when he talks, it gets contagious
I could see why his classes would be so interesting. He gets so excited...add in some gorgeous pictures and I would never fall asleep in his class!

the wisdom of 10 scientists combined, the excitement of a 5 year old.
NDT is the coolest there is.
That was very well said I have to remember that
I bought that book just now, without hesitation. I have a 6 year old who LOVES Space and will most likely LOVE this book. Thanks Neil!!
I just paused the clip to go buy it for my 8 year old daughter! …and me, of course.
Also without hesitation. Because Neil!
I love that they’re actually friends. They know each other so well that Stephen has an extra copy of the book nearby, anticipating that Neil will grab the first one. And Neil can immediately spot Stephen trying to segue into advocating for Pluto to be a planet again. Fantastic.
sO great to see Neil. He turned me on to the book " Benchley" by Preston. He said it was the most factual piece of fiction he ever read. Love Him!
He turned me on too
Never heard of it
Thx
I love how Neil Tyson gets excited about space
Just want to hug the moon is the best quote out of this interview. Someone keep this man safe at all costs!
If he had been my teacher in college, I would take the class over and over again he's so flippin smart and has so much enthusiasm.
Totally!
I was thinking I could have used a couple more profs enthused about their classes, but I wasn't that fortunate.
I just finished reading Sagan's Cosmos again after about 40 years. It's sad he died so early, but he predicted that in the future we would send land vehicles to Mars (he had been involved with the Viking missions which were stationary), and predicted more satellites exploring other planets. He also predicted that we would find exoplanets and said where we should look first. He would've been so proud to have lived in these times. deGrasse, who studied under Sagan, must feel this also but feels the threat now of people regularly dismissing science and now that is his mission to fight that ignorance. (If you search Sagan, you can find a clip of him testifying to Congress in the 1970s warning about global warming and climate change. We knew for decades this was coming and even today we refuse to believe the science and do anything about it.)
Dee Ess, I appreciate all you wrote & agree fully with every word you said. I miss Carl Sagan SO MUCH. In fact, though I never met him, I miss him nearly as much as I miss my most beloved grandpa, my childhood hero. Sagan's was a brilliant (genius?) voice that was taken from the world too soon. I'm glad there's Neil to bring astro physics to everyday language, though through a totally different personality.
God, we need him in the “alternative facts” era 😃
Alternate facts....Kellyanne Conway, what a genius!
Sarcasm.....😄
@@50sVintage absolutely sagan was a genius
I Love watching his interviews ..... I have always enjoyed learning about Space but when I listen to Neil deGrasse Tyson I am just even more excited.
His energy and gregariousness is so chaotic and passionate and infectious and… exhausting 😂🤣 I love him sfm 🥰
Neil's excitement about his field of study is infectious...Right On!!! 👍👍
Love Neil. his nervous energy rocks because of his nerdiness
I do not believe Neil has been nervous in his entire life. He's just cracked out on science.
Energetic, not nervous!
Love his passion, he looks and sounds like a kid that has discovered something new. Love it.
I guess my OCD is so bad, all I could think about during the interview was if Neil was going to be able to put the book back together properly.
Hahaha! Glad I wasn't the only one!😄
He did at the end lol

TOOL "10,000 Days", 2006
This man should bottle his enthusiasm. So beautiful.
Great, Christmas gift for my nephew sorted! Thank you! 🌸
Love that venom against astrology. Laughed a little too hard considering I was watching at work...
I ran to my computer so frantically to buy this that my dog thought we were under attack from squirrels, and she will probably spend the next hour barking. I guess I’m trying to say I’m excited to get this book 😅
That was my first thought - to order the book. Luckily my dogs were both outside or I probably would have gotten the same reaction.
Already checking this out online for my grandsons !
"I didn't realize the Universe was so sexy..."
After gawping at Enceladus ? You knew... You totally knew.
Right, like I know you're a good Catholic boy, Stephen, but you can cut the crap with us.
I love this guy, and always love these interviews.. He and Brian Cox are such a joy to listen to, being a complex subject, they make it fun and engaging. Love their passion!
I love that man so much. How can you not be in a good mood while Neil shares his cosmic perspective on the world?
Me too! Hashtag nerd crush 😉
I love watching him and Chuck giggle on Star Talk, and I learn stuff.
I just love Neil's passion, anytime, anywhere. Always a delight to see him and hear him.
Neil is fantastic, as always! Just love how he's incredibly intelligent and emotive and excited about the subject to the point that, despite his genius, he's too excited to figure out how to properly close his own book!😅😂🤣
I absolutely love when Neil is on!!
I love how he gets so excited when talking about what he loves
I always enjoy listening to him .. science is fascinating and space and science together .. so cool!!
I love Neil's shot at astrology and its believers. Which translates to: "You self-centered doofuses are irrelevant. Deal with it."
He's just saying that because he's a libra. According to the internet libras are intellectual with sympathetic hearts, so he's warning people to stay away from astrology because he's smart enough to know it's BS and caring enough to say so.
For those of you with no sense of humor this is a joke.
I remember when I was a kid I read a cool David Eddings novel where the main character was talking to his companion who happened to be a goddess in the shape of a cat (as you do). He was discussing the constellations and she stopped him and asked what he was talking about. She explained she couldn't see the images he could picture because she could see them in 3D so she didn't see images on a flat surface. My mind was blown. Can't wait to see it for myself with this website.
That’s what i like about Stephen , he lets the guest complete ….imagine could neil dare speak this much without interruption from jimmys and others 😂
So true.. Him and Trevor are my favorites. Fallon can be a times. But rest interrupt way too much or want the spotlight on them too often. 👍
Agreed...Conan's the worst
When I see Neil is a guest on any talk show I get exited because I know he is going to be 100% passion and I always learn something new about the universe
I get exited too but then they won't let me back in so I never learn the stuff about the universe.
"The universe cares about you." -Pastor Stephen
The Catholicism just jumped out lol
I think Stephen was just looking out for the horoscope industry, because if people paid enough attention to Neil then people would stop reading what they print
Catholics don't really use "Pastor", they mostly say "Father". Much more creepy. :p
Stephen believes in meaning beyond our modern mechanical existence. That’s why he’s a joy to watch.
I just love how excited he gets about astrophysics. It would make anyone love it. 🤣
We ❤ Neil deGrasse Tyson! One of the smartest people alive, and so very much down to earth (when his smart-as-f*** brain is dealing with scientific questions most people wouldn't understand even when explained). And the passion he approaches his job with - just extremely inspiring❣
I just love how freaking excited he is about stuff. May we all find that nerdy excitement in our lives somewhere.
One of the most satisfying moments of my life...when he correctly closed his own book property at 5:08...he is human after all
Yeah i thought he was never gonna work that out!
Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye for president 2024!
OMG I love Neil sooo much!!! He is absolutely HILLARIOUS!!! I almost lost my breath with his PURE DISTAIN for Astrology! He is an AMAZING and lovely interviewee :-D
Both of them holding book up was great genuine moment. Colbert & Tyson's friendship & chemistry are refreshing. I recommend looking up Colbert & NDT in NYC driving rover.
Pluto deserves to be a planet. Pluto IS a planet. Come at me, Neil.
Pluto will always be a planet!
I would love to be as excited about anything as he is! I loved the comments about the constellations. I always laugh when people really worry about their horoscopes and all that BS! 😂
Neil's outbursts of hysterical laughter are brief glimpses into the depths of his magnanimous personality!! 🤣❤️
He’s my colleague and he’s genuinely like this 24/7. Also SO FUN (and respectful af) AT HOLIDAY PARTIES 🥰🥰🥰
Until he wants to do an Indian spiritual greeting LOL
I love how genuinely excited Neill still gets when he talks about space.

Can the guy who uploads these put part 1, 2 or 3 in the title?? Is that so hard to do?
The decadal survey also proposed to study an icy giant, though I'm confused as to why they tiptoed around stating which planet more plainly. What's wrong with the headline: NASA wants to explore Uranus?

When you PRONOUNCE it correctly, it doesn't come off as so naughty.
It is like seeing a kid talking about his favorite candy... That passion tho !!
You've gotta love this guy's passion! What a treasure he is!
Neil deGrasse Tyson getting all jazzed up on the meaninglessness of constellations. That is such a Libra thing to say. ♎ 😂🌌☄️🌠🔭
Libra logic and reason with a dose of Pluto in Virgo inferiority: “the universe i’ve devoted my life to studying doesn’t give a rats ass about me!” lol 😆
I love his enthusiasm and it makes me want to learn everything I can about space ❤️💫
"You want to hug the moon." What a wonderful sentence! Only Neil could say it and make us FEEL it!
I swear if I didn't know better that Neil is all giddy about space, I'd think he was on speed during this interview.
Feels like he is.
Don't get me wrong he is a great guy to listen to and I have learnt a lot from him...
But NDT is giddy about himself.
I counselled drug addicts and during my studies decided I needed to experience just once some of what people were feeling while high. I read the telephone book on speed, never again. (Didn’t try heavy shit).

I was just thinking about him this afternoon out of nowhere. I was thinking "It's been a long time since I watched his video...might watch him tonight on YT". Then all of sudden just now, the youtube autoplay brought me here. What a coincidence 😂
Neil was absolutely brilliant, obviously, I love it.😁 Him acknowledging people's stupidity when it comes to them asking what your astrology sign is/believing zodiac nonsense was HILARIOUS. Side Burn: astrologists lol
I always wonder when people talk about the stars aligning, "aligning with what? if you moved to a different area of space different stars would be aligning"
Dr. Tyson is like a recurring cosmic event. Similar to Halley's Comet--but less frequent. People like him come along maybe once in TWO lifetimes. His energy and enthusiasm for teaching AND learning is very rare. Once most people reach a certain goal, they tend to plateau. They become arrogant and smug in their accomplishment (s). Dr. Tyson is ALWAYS excited for what comes next. His sense of humor coupled with his unending desire for more knowledge, is contagious. The PERFECT teacher...
I just love and admire people that are so enthusiastic and passionate about their work
Love Neil! Also, would love to see the same book but done by flatties (flat Earth), where the planets don't pop, but stay ... flat..

Always enjoy listening to Neil
He should have Neil on every week. You can tell they are such good friends and are dynamite together
While I can appreciate Neil's enthusiasm, it is at times over the top, bordering on camp - he is not the 'story teller' of science, he is merely its 'cheer-leader.' Science doesn't need a showman, it needs someone with a calm demeanour who can draw out the excitement of 'awe and wonder' from within their audience that plants a 'question-seed' in their minds to pursue more knowledge.
For me, Carl Sagan will always be the preeminent story teller of scientific history and its pursuit of knowledge and the joy of "awe" discovered by it.
