Look, Mcdavid is no doubt the best player in the league, and will be of his era, but let's be honest here. If he tried this in the mid 90's to late 2000's he would get absolutely hammered. Those ranger players were literally too scared to even touch him because they know the refs were HOPING to see any sort of contact to call a penalty. Without hitting, fighting, or any reasonable physicality, hockey will lose it's credibility and authenticity.
@Colony. Totally disagree. Sport is so much better when it’s about skill, speed, creativity, flow and of course fair play. Dumb dirty hockey is just that - dumb and dirty, slow, frustratingly disruptive and an inferior man’s desperate last resort to try to ruin his betters. Fact is the whole league takes liberties with McDavid and most of the time the refs don’t call it.

Same team, same era. Connor gets hacked and tripped a lot, but not often "hammered". Further, just watch more hockey you're embarrassing yourself with this comment there's still lots of hitting.
I dont think you understand how fast he is with the puck. There whole team had maybe 2-3 seconds to even figure out what was happening let alone try and take the body.
For me Mcdavid is The best player in The World by far. And i really admire his play. But honestly speaking I simply cannot see that this goal could ever be The goal of The year. Let me explain why.
