- Royal Caribbean is not what anyone would consider to be a luxury cruise experience, but still, for the price they charge, I think cruisers should be able to expect a certain level of cleanliness and upkeep of their ships... even their older ships. I took my sister on her first cruise on the Independence of the Seas, which was "amplified" in 2018, but it seems they did nothing to update the cabins! Is this what you would expect from Royal Caribbean Cruise Line? #cruise #cruiseline #roomtour

The disgusting stains on the couch and the translucent side panels on the balcony earn a giant NOPE for me. Would never sail that ship.
Exactly what I've experienced on each of my 4 Royal Caribbean cruises. Along with food poisoning that is. I will NEVER cruise Royal Caribbean again.
Second time in the last 2 days I've heard a cruise CZcamsr mention looking at cruising through a fresh set of eyes. Reminded me - I've been to Yosemite National Park in California dozens of times. I took a friend camping there for his 1st time - it was so amazing to reexperience the park for the first time through his eyes. A reminder to never take places/experiences for granted - it can be amazing the 1st time and the 5th time. We are so privileged to be able to travel - embrace every experience good or bad.

Our last cruise on the Independence was a similar experience. Filthy room, stained and dirty couch and carpeting and curtains. Marred furniture too. Never again on that ship. Absolutely disgusting and shameful that Royal spends no money on updating rooms and furniture. Also had the same experience on the Adventure of the Seas too. Time to stop cruising on Royal ships.

Our table mate's couch on oasis of the seas was even worse than yours. He showed us pictures at dinner and I started to lose my appetite...
That’s about how dirty all of symphony of the seas is now plus their where thousands complaining about how the pressed penny is taking payment while not working and they were charging for towels that were turned in and causing people of it being their fault and thankfully be GRACIOUS enough to refund people
The style is not a big issue for us, but the cleanliness is, and that couch's condition is unacceptable.

Yes! Do you also feel like Royal seems to be letting it's older ships go too long without updating the interior?
I didn’t think Royal would let you open the balcony dividers any longer. On a cruise we were on ( I don’t recall which Royal ship), the room steward told us that he was not allowed to open it even if the other cabin guests agreed. Please let me know if anybody else has had this experience.
That is sad. Our last cruise on RC was less than impressive so we don’t cruise on them unless there isn’t an alternative.
That's pretty normal for ships used on short sailings. A new party every 3 days....

Wonderful to go with sis..so sad about that couch...I think if that bad and I have heard this elsewhere and seen it on a lot of Royal cabin picks..there is one with navy pin striped cushions and they look awful now. I am thinking about seriously taking cloth to cover that on the older royal ships i may really like. I have been saving and truly having to live leanly for a long time..I get sofa's that need to be redone or tossed and i get it is still not a thing to complain about if you have a comfortable enough building your life and retirement place but your vacation and the cost and now solos paying even more...they have to get on that somehow...
We sailed on Explorer of the Seas a few years back and had the same thing, stains on furniture, carpet. I am OCD so it ruined my cruise and spoiled my opinion of RCI. Had a recent cruise on Independence and had no stains in cabin but noticed dated decor also. We had the balcony open to the next cabin on a few cruises and it was nice having that extra wide space out there on the balcony.
So it seems like Royal just kind of lets it's older ships fall apart?
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides apparently they do let the older ships fall apart. I usually book newer ships but sometimes we pick one that’s overdo for refurbishment based on itinerary.
I Prefer hidden. I also always carry 3 extension cords in case I run into the problem of no plugs by the bed. I use magnetic carabiners to route them across the ceiling.
OMG that sofa is disgusting and I'm pretty laid back about things. I'd have to call and I sure as heck wouldn't sit on it.
I too have booked a few cruises on Inde - only because it was a reasonably good deal each time.

I am very disappointed in Royal in the cabin aspect. They NEVER renovate their cabins. They need to renovate them similarly to how they do with celebrity or Norwegian.

Same thing happened to me on the Mardi Gras. The couch was so disgustingly stained and the grout lines on the bathroom floor were gross.

To be fair, that looks like a newer couch than the one you showed in the older vlog, but still gross and the cabin is still from the 1990’s don’t get me wrong… 😂

Royal was one and done for me, nearly 10 years ago. Wasn't impressed with the food or some of the snobbish attitudes that Diamond status seemed to generate. The shows and attractions, A+. I'd rather sailed on more interesting itineraries, at better value, with better food, atmosphere, and comfortable clean cabins. We fly from Vegas, so I can always make up for the entertainment, or we sail from/to an port with an amusement park nearby.

Speaking of "amplification": AIDA has just announced its "Evolution" project. They are modernizing their Sphinx class ships, starting with AIDAdiva next year. Perhaps you can do an comparision based on your cruise with AIDAluna.

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides I don't know. I like these ships, but they are not the first choice if you travel with children, especially not in autumn and in northern Europe😂. We are trying it this year. It has been almost 6 years since my last cruise with this class. Hm, a different cabin design would be good. The couch as a third bed on the newer ships is much better than the unfolded armchair.
That's a filthy ship. No excuse for any of it. There are many old ships that are in better shape and designs. Leave it and Get your money back. Heck no with translucent walls. Thanks for this video now I know I will not go on that cruise line

Everything needs to be hidden away. It looks too cluttered when you have everything out and showing
I try to show what the cabins / rooms look like when they are "lived in" for a while so you can get a good idea of where you can put your stuff, and how much stuff you can have laying around. I figure if people want to see the empty cabin / room, they can just look at the website for the perfectly produced pictures. Know what I mean=

They’ve ruined independence of seas . Removed to much social areas.
35 seconds of unskippable ads you are lucky I really want to see this video :((( YT needs a rival badly. Indy was our first ship in 2017 and 2018 and again last year we think it's showing it's age. So disappointed that it returns to the UK for Norway cruises as it's so not designed for cold weather. No indoor pool and no space to sit in inclement weather. My advice if you are from the US is try to do Norway on RC this year as next year you will be majorly disappointed with this ship in cold weather.
