  • Cruising is a fantastic way to spend your family's vacation... but not everyone has a family! Sometimes when travelling, it's nice to have a little peace and quiet and not have to deal with other people's kids. Unfortunately, not everyone takes care of their kids on cruises, and not everyone's kids know how act when they are walking around the ship unsupervised.
Are there ways to avoid being surrounded by little monsters while cruising? Yes! Check out my list and let me know if you have anything to add. #cruise #cruiseline #over50

I typically cruise in early May and late fall to avoid kids on cruises...nothing against them but it seems like parents just let them run wild without supervision. I did a cruise last February duing Winter Break from California, even knowing school was out that week. What a mistake! It's the teen boys, running up and down the halls, imbibing in leftover alcholic drinks that adults just drop off anywhere on the ship...I was almost knocked down a few times walking down my hall or going to the buffet. I have a cruise booked in early June (against my better judegement) and from reading the FB group on this sailing, there are going to be a lot of kids. I am dreading it already.

It’s not the kids I have problem with but the parents. I told my kids ( now all grownup) what was expected before we arrived anywhere and if they forgot they would disappear from the scene. It didn’t happen often but I also had to suffer with them ( back to the cabin for good long talk ).

That’s why we love Virgin and Viking - both are 18 & up. Going on 2nd VV cruise in 2 weeks. But… we are doing something I didn’t think we ever would- booked Icon of the Seas for February 2025. Couldn’t beat the price - booked it before first official cruise. Paid $2400 for inside cabin total (not person, but total!) We’ll try the massive ship for a good price - know we’ll have to get used to kids! 🤣. It may be the only time we do this!

2:39 I absolutely loved my Resilient Lady cruise over Christmas! It was awesome and the solo cabin was delightfully comfy cozy - the bed felt like a secret nook and it was, by far, the best cabin I’ve ever had and I’ve had balconies and mini suites. We even got a pair of nutcracker Christmas decorations as a gift. ❤

I have also cruised the resilient lady. Repositioning cruise. Singapore to Sydney. No kids and the party animals seemed to sleep all day, and would emerge at dinner time, for the evening fun. The day was quiet and civilised. While still meeting the needs of those who like to party.

    • @andreagriffiths3512

@@LoveLiveCruise I found that too. I was generally safely tucked away by about 9:30-10pm. The movies in bed were awesome and whilst I might prefer a bedtime of midnight to 1am, I’m not good with crowds of people who are loud and partying. One day I’ll have to do a repositioning cruise, maybe when I retire. Right now they always seem to be during the school year and since I work as a swim teacher, I’m kinda needed during term time. Endless sea days are my jam. Can never have too many lol

I don’t understand why some of these lines won’t do adult only sailings. I think they would be pretty popular. Most adults who don’t have children do not want to be around children when they cruise. The noise, screaming, and temper tantrums ruin your vacation

I was on MSC Seaview cruising Mediterranean, cruise was October 11 to the 18, lots of children on board, noisy children, and unlike Carnival there was no serenity type area, MSC did have an adult only area, maybe 10 loungers side of ship, no pool, no bar service.

We're some of those "advanced" cruisers (62 & 67 yrs) and enjoy children but don't want to be overrun. We find any cruise longer than 7 nights has significantly less school-aged kids onboard. Even 8 nights makes a difference but the longer the cruise, the fewer the children. Throw in avoiding school holidays and you're good.

School breaks can be a little unpredictable. We booked a cruise from Cape Liberty, NJ the third week of September, thinking most kids would be in school. Apparently, many NJ school districts were closed that week due to some of the Jewish holidays.. Living in Virginia, that was new to me. That cruise seemed to be mostly families with kids.
Cruises from the Northeast that include President’s Day in Feb also have a lot of kids on school break.

I selected the last week in March last year for one week on the carnival Mardi Gras. Being from Florida, spring break for the kids is well over by the end of March so I thought the ceiling would be fine. Little did I know that the entire state of Michigan was on spring breakand every kid from that beautiful state was on the cruise ship. They were swimming in the hot tubs even with snorkel gear. It ruined the cruise for me.

I went on an MSC cruise in Europe last year that had almost every bed full and over $2500 kids onboard. It was absolutely the worst cruise ever. You could barely move around the ship. The children were amped up and out of control crazy and the parents were fully in on allowing all sorts of bad behavior. The kids traveled around in groups and had what I call a “gang mentality”. I have been on a couple of Virgin voyages lately just to try and wash that horrible experience away. It is my fault. I didn’t research enough before booking.

Great video as always . We loved the solarium one The Oasis of the seas . We always found a lounger and we are a family of 5 ! We also took advantage of the bistro that was in the solarium where we would get lunch . It was perfect . Exactly the same as the windjammer but so much smaller and even had outside seating . It was like being on a small ship within a ship . Plus it cost NO extra . I would definitely do that again . Only disadvantage I guess was that it only had a splash pool so not an actual swimming pool but it was lovely to cool off in and I would sit on the side with my legs in the pool and have a cocktail (or 2 😂)

All good suggestions - I just got off a week on Explora 1 followed by a week in the MSC Yacht Club. I loved Explora - beautiful ship, great cabins, amazing food! There is a kids club on board but no “attractions;” I saw maybe 10-15 kids total out of 800+ passengers so it was fine. And it was a 7-night itinerary. In contrast, I loved the Yacht Club but there were lots of kids in the YC and the ship as a whole was packed with kids. So it wasn’t as sparse as I had hoped on the kid front but again it was a 7-night cruise too. So YMMV on all of these…. Thanks for posting this one!!

      @cyoda1359 Před 3 měsíci +1

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides If you can afford the YC, I think you can afford Explora. I got my cabin on my Feb. 2024 7-night cruise for only a 15% single supplement - although prices have gone up since I booked it, it's definitely worth a try. You're a big time influencer lol ... but seriously, I'd work that with both MSC and Explore and check it out if possible. Even at the increased prices, I'm paying between $650-775/night for a couple 10-night Explora sailings coming up in October 2024 and Jan. 2025. Expensive? Yes, but (a) they have discounts and specials like anybody else, and (2) after you factor in all the inclusions, it's a pretty solid value IMO. Younger demographic than Seabourn/Viking/Regents, seems to me. More international clientele because of the MSC connection so a nice vibe. Cheers and thanks for the great content!! I'm in my 60s, just retired and am dedicated to spending my kids inheritance on cruises, among other things lol ... keep up the good work!

You couldn't get a babysitter and then when I did after the show I went up to get it my 3-year-old and he was up on the top deck by himself. I think it's dangerous on cruises for kids since you can't be with them all the time. I cruise one time with my 18-year-old daughter and she got drunk. I will actually never go on Royal ever again due to the kids issue. Way too many very young children (think terrible twos or threes) and even mothers with newborns by the adult pool screaming, even though there was a kiddie pool. It seemed like half the ship was children. Oh and many kids in the adult only area. Oh and a 2 yr old throwing a temper tantrum at 9pm at the table next to us in the main dining room when we were trying to have a romantic dinner for 2. It was a 7 day cruise on oasis and Not on any holiday time. You should be fine, It’s not Spring Break yet. Celebrity doesn’t cater to Children, you might encounter some teenagers thou.

Ship was very full but just a few kids on board. MSP airport was incredibly busy though due to a long weekend.

We want to try Virgin, but the pools are to small. I cannot stand when people bring the kids in the adult area and have family time. The brat kids start to scream and run around. It’s very annoying . The response is “ we paid for this cruise we should be allowed to bring are children anywhere “. What about those of us who also paid for our vacation and have to deal with your kids as well. Do not get me started on kids screaming and crying in the main dinning room and the parents just carry on. Yes I am anti kids on a cruise

A guarantee to not have kids - Celebrity. That's why they do not have an adult only area. No need. Just got off the Equinox, two babies, and about 8 kids. Never heard one of them, and rarely saw them.

Your comments about Costa ring true. On Costa Magica, out of 3500 pax, there were probably over 500 kids - in the pool - at the same time. Imagine being at a child’s birthday party - every day. Also in the hot tubs. And in the adults only pool. And the casino. And every elevator and every corridor. The 6 passenger cabins would house one adult and 5 kids. Later we discovered that children sail free. Our Med cruise was a noisy nightmare. Costa - cruisers beware.

No children under the age of 18 are allowed onboard any of the Viking ships, or river boats. That sounds good but the entertainment is more geared up for the elderly ie live violin, or piano music 😥🎹🎻

I reccomend a Disney Transatlantic or Panama Canal cruise, no kids on these!

There is no such thing as the 'adults only' area. Never enforced. Children should also not be allowed to sit a bar with adults drinking..

Viking has very few kids on board and absolutely NO poor people what so ever!! Is it true that you get a 10% discount if you have a German accent?? LOL

That is why Costa is ranked the lowest of the lows of cruise ships. Keep kids on disney ships only.

There should be NO breaks from school except a one month summer break and a one week Christmas break. Kids don't need spring, fall, Easter breaks
