  • It was time to move the plants on. With over 100 plants it was getting far too crowded at home. But have i made a mistake?

I have only grown a few chillies this year, moved them to the greenhouse this week and repotted them. All well so far. Loved seeing your full poly tunnel.

I put out 90% of my tomatoes 🍅 yep outside oh my giddy aunt the night temps tanked 😮. It was 2c this morning and now 20c afternoon but other than a bit of slug damage they seem ok. I hope your peppers are happy they will love the warmth. Have a marvellous week Helen and happiness is a full greenhouse ❤, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Yup we've put tomatoes outside as well 😂. Overs from planting up the other poly.
That's the problem the temp swings. But to be honest they have all hot new growth.

As long as they have been harden off you should be fine. It is going to rain next week but the met office suggested that temps will still be higher but not as high as later this week.
I was lead to believe that chilli's don't have as big of a root system compared to tomatoes so you could get away with them being closer. I previously have been growing chilli's indoors in 25cm pots and they did go ok. Going to plant 3 peppers in a big builders bucket size container in the garden. I was told that it will be tight but ok. My old chilli's are pretty much tired after 3 years of growth but i have 3 more this year that are slowly getting there. I have up potted them all and have been sticking them out for a few hours to harden off the peppers and give the chilli's a boost!
I don't have a greenhouse or poly. Finally getting around to planting out the tomatoes in the new trellis and i am going to put some clear plastic sheet over the top, like a lid to try and keep the leaves a bit dryer than in past years. We have 14 in bed, 4 in containers and we are going to put the last one out the front to get the morning sun as kind of a test. The rest of the spares will hopefully get donated.
Like you said, they can't stay indoors like a jungle any longer!
I also planted out courgettes, beans and sweetcorn but i am based in London. We are going to move our crate with spinach, pak choi and beetroot into the shade as some of them have already started to bolt! I have re sown some more but i am thinking of getting shade cloth for the garden
Hope you enjoy the lovely weather this week! Take care!

Yup next week not so bad. But they'll be fine 🙂. Never really mommy my plants 😂.
We grew chillies in the ground last year. And the roots were quite extensive. So I want to give them a little space. We planted 2 jalapeños in a 2ft container. They did ok. But I reckon they could have been bigger.
