- PART 2: • Ronaldinho Soccer 64 (...
It's the latest* bait-and-switch meme sweeping the Internet, but what's it all about? Where did this pirated cartridge come from, and what changes have been made to International Superstar Soccer 64?
*Correct at time of writing
Also known as Ronaldinho 64, Mundial Ronaldinho Soccer, '98 Ronaldinho Soccer and a bunch more titles that don't include 'Ronaldo', this bootleg is an extremely rare example of contemporary Nintendo 64 hacking.

The commentator is a Spanish speaking person trying to speak Portuguese but with heavy accent and mixing it with Spanish words. It’s what we call “portunhol” in Brazil, and it makes this game even more magical and hilarious.
Nice
Basically just Brazilian Portuguese then.
Here in brazil until today we call Ronaldo as "Ronaldinho". The other Ronaldinho here is called "Ronaldinho Gaucho"
Isn't the -inho part for making it sound small? Wouldn't say it is fitting for Ronaldo 🤣
@@balloe3466 that's true. Also, in my view most people here know him as "Ronaldo". He was "Ronaldinho" only during part of his carrer. Afterwards, "Ronaldinho Gaucho" became "Ronaldinho" and he became just "Ronaldo".
@@balloe3466 yeah, we took to calling him that because in the 1994 World Cup Brazilian team there were two Ronaldos; him and a centre-back who used to play for São Paulo. since this latter one was older, taller and stronger, everyone started calling him Ronaldão and the Ronaldo everyone knows came to be called Ronaldinho, to differentiate between them.
@@fernandorechia1635 I think I still remember calling him Ronaldinho back in the 2002 world cup days. At some point people did drop the "inho" in favor of the "ronaldo fenômeno" moniker, but he was ronaldinho for a long time.
That isnt true, nobody calls Ronaldo that way anymore since 2002 when Ronaldinho Gaucho became more famous.
Football rom hacks were a huge part of latin american gaming culture. Here in Brazil, kids wanted to play with their favorite clubs and players from the Brazillian leagues, and while the Fifa series did bring some of the more famous ones, there are so many clubs in the second division that have just as big of a following. On the PS1 and PS2 eras, the winning eleven/PES series was probably the most hacked ones, with patches with updated team rosters being released every year, TO THIS DAY. That's right, modders still make rom hacks for winning eleven 6 on the PS2 and PSP with updated Brazillian team rosters, and pack it with psp emulators for android, for example. Hell, you even might be able to get a physical (burnt) copy of it in some flea market where pirated games for consoles like the xbox 360 are still sold.
I think PS2 Singstar custom hacks were also a thing in Latin America? If anyone can find Singstar Beatles + 60's for PS2, I'd be very much obliged! XD
*Ronaldinho Soccer 64 Is Bootleg*
Still better than most Android "Top" Games
Remember when mobile games where actual games? Yeah me too
The bootleg versions of iss are way common in latinamerica, there was a version for every important league here.
Heh, even PES had bootlegged copies back in the day. i remember having a version of PES6 that had the entire Chilean Primera División, with patched-in commentary from CDF (Canal del Fútbol, a premium paid TV station), new player models and even stadiums
Here in Brazil we have a team dedicated to PES 6 hacks. It's called Geomatrix with the bomba patch series. It has the First and Second division of Brazil and uptaded european clubs
We also have GTA:Superman for ps2
Argentina had a PES version that said “home made with my right hand by Mr xxx”
I liked that -real- bootleg game because of its announcer, especially when he said *"HAHAHAHAAA RONALDINHO **-SOCCER-** SOKSER"*
P/S: I didn't play MRS or ISS 64.
i love their bootlegs, Futebol Brasileiro 96 is the best one
every kid had one of those in br
Dude I absolutely loved this entire review bc it felt it had this mid to early 2000’s youtube review style to it. I really liked this man, really took me back even though this meme s pretty recent lol
Ronaldo are called Ronaldinho in Brazil. And Ronaldinho are called Ronaldinho Gaúcho
Is*
Ronaldo Fenômeno
Not anymore
Took until the opening of this video that I realized the announcer pronounced "Soccer" as "Saucer"
It's weird, he pronounces it slightly more accurately in the Ronaldinho 97 intro: czcams.com/video/NDdT6QuP7pc/video.html :-P
@@HarryYackNah
He says "Ronaldinho soxer"
Haha haha Ronaldinho sucks air killed me😂
I have a copy of this game. I am Brazilian, and love this game 😍
Where did you get it?
@@crazisaturn2274 back in the day we used to buy games in the public street market
a forbidden market called "camelô"
If I had the money I would definitely buy it from you
Hi! Nice video, a friend told me about this game and I download it to my Everdrive 64, I tried it yesterday and it's quite good, love it having real names in it!
ISS64 (which Ronnie 64 is a hack of) is actually a really good game. Am thinking about getting a repro cart of Ronaldinho 64...
Do you have a link?
@@HarryYack Did they also make a '98 or 2000 version?
I have yet to encounter that meme. Suddenly I'm in fear of missing out.
It's not as popular as I made out, but you might stumble across it one day in the far future. ;)
czcams.com/video/-zWSvqNPk6c/video.html Here is a meme comp a year later
@@Veri7a Well, I lived a year in anxiety, but it was worth it !
I think the lack of ambient crowd noise might be an emulation issue. Happens with clean ISS 64 ROMs.
Yeah, you're absolutely correct. I saw the redhotsonic video that runs the game on real hardware and it doesn't seem to have the issue. I never really emulated anything on N64 before I learned about Ronaldinho 64. :D
7:07 "Portuguese announcer has a very heavy spanish accent".
I'm Brazilian and I did not even recognized this as Portuguese, I assumed it was simply Spanish.
ronaldo was know as ronaldinho during the 64/psx era so there is no error there
Yeah I clearly remember he was called that during the 1996 Olympics because there was already an older 'Ronaldo' in the squad.
You just forgot CAMPEONATO BRASILEIRO 96 for SNES, but the video is amazing.
This is a great vid. Who wouldve thought a peruvian bootleg could have such a signicant legacy. Latin america needs.morr game devs
Dude, you entered into a crucial part of latin american childhood with this video, thanks!!!
There was another Lai pen copy of superstar soccer and it was ronaldinho soccer 97 and it was before
Ronaldinho 97 is cool because it has the Brazilian domestic teams. I wish someone did that for English clubs, but sadly it could never have happened due to copyrights. :-(
And futebol brasileiro 96. It was a copy of ISS 96
This video actually seems really professional, good for you bro, i was kinda disappointed that it doesn't have a million views, hope you reach this goal someday.
0:13 This part made me laugh! 😂
Another thing. Alejjo is based in bebeto
I think I would like to make a video about Allejo, if I can find enough information... :-)
Allejo in ISS64 is Ronaldo though - number 9 and very similar stats
Damn, I didn’t know it was a Perukkan game
Narrator speaks portuguese with ¿spanishspeaker? accent.
because the voice actor was a peruvian in a bootlog made it by peruvian???
It was worth to wait until the end.
FIFA 21 Looks Promising..... When Will It Arrive For Switch, Though??

I'm sorry?
🤣 Oh my, it's the man himself!
Hahahahaha Ronalhildo Soccer!!!
i think ronaldinho soccer 64 is pretty cool
0:43 its mauro silva
I really don't want to pay alot for a knockoff so I might as well make my own.
That isn’t even Ronaldinho on the cover. Its Ronaldo. ????
In his early days in Brazilian team Ronaldo Nazario was called as "Ronaldinho", because there's a player named "Ronaldo" on the team, later being called as "Ronaldao"
Ronaldao
Ronaldo
Ronaldinho
0:13 "Ronaldinho sosser" not suck air, little bastard!!! 😅
great video bro
Jajajaja Ronaldiño soxer
Bruh-zil
Hahahahaha Ronaldinho Suckser!!!!!!
this hardly can be called a mod. it only changes player names, that can be done easily on Options.
Bro you know nothing about our culture, ronaldo fenomeno is the og ronaldinho
😂😂😂😂😂
what can you spect from a peruan
- South Park
es peruvian*
@@rodrigocalderon7650 eso k mas da soos
Not to mention it’s Ronaldo and not Ronaldinho
Ronaldo was called as "Ronaldinho" in early to mid 90s as there's another Ronaldo in the team on that time, later known as "Ronaldao"
@@mArvAlcao71 I know I wasn’t aware at the time of the comment but someone commented on another comment letting me know
That aint peruvian lol!
Amazing work ^^
Some comments... Please, try use a Translator.
0:42 Como alguém já comentou... Here in brazil until today we call Ronaldo as "Ronaldinho". The other Ronaldinho here is called "Ronaldinho Gaucho".
- Perdio!
- Juego cuerpo*
*é muito raro escutar essa expressão no MRS64
And, believe me, there is only one expression in English. Have fun looking for :)
U.S.A = usa... (as verb to use - portuguese)
N. Ireland = Irlanda ene... (as the write of letter 'N' in portuguese)
S. Africa = Sul Africa (the correct would 'África do Sul')
Czech Rep.
Irei comentar no vídeo parte 2.
