Enjoy part 2 everyone! Please let me know if you have any questions!
These videos were super awesome! Any chance you can do the same thing with a Musser M75 and Adams Alpha Series?
@@nicholassimmons9706 I'd love to get my hands on an alpha, but I don't know anyone around here who has one!
This channel is really underrated
Thanks man! Feel free to share with anyone you think could find it useful!!!
Something that might be of interest for potential buyers: the OneVibe offers one free bar tuning after a year. I had some issues with bars that were fixed with replacements, but then I sent back my whole set of bars and they were tuned after a year of ownership. It's a fantastic option given to customers.
outstanding work on this comparison, tremendously helpful and a real service to the percussion community. thank you Charlie!!
West Side story part was awesome! Love your vids.
amazing work in this video man
Thanks!
Very much enjoyed your comparison videos. I have owned an early model of the Onevibe, am presently playing a Musser M48 Provibe, mainly for tonal reasons. I have done a comparison between these two and the Musser bars have the same width but a more beveled edge and are notably heavier creating a darker tone. I have not seen any Omega vibes here in Australia, I am a fan of the progressive dampening and smooth vibrato. With my previous Premier and Saito vibes I have cut back the edges of the fan blades to achieve a less intrusive vibrato effect.
Great and thorough presentation.
Thank you!
Nice Video!
I feel like you should have mentioned the the pickup system for the Omega Vibe. (Attached inside the bars) Giving it a unique situation in the modern era allowing separate accessories to be used. Such as effect pedals used with guitars and such.
Hello! I was going to mention it, in fact, I had it in my script. But I didn't find a single website where you can buy it!
Excellent comparison. I have had my One Vibe for about 6 months and drew most of the same conclusions as you. Glad to hear I picked the right one, as I was on the fence about the Omega before.
Congratulations for your channel! I love it! :) I want to buy a vibraphone, but I can’t decide between Musser M55G and One Vibe Gold. Could you compare these two, please?
Hello! I'm not really doing videos anymore. The Musser will sound darker and more open but the One Vibe frame will hold up better over time. Musser resonators get crazy rattles over time. There are ways to mitigate it thought.
Did you personally feel the racking of the One Vibe while pedaling annoying? I noticed that the Omega didn’t do it. Thanks for this review!
I didn't really notice it in my tests. But there are more wheel locks on newer models so it should be much better now!
so... which one did you go with, Charlie? and thanks again for this, it's an outstanding comparison.
I ending up selling my Omega Vibe. I wasn't super happy with it. I currently don't have a vibe, but if I did, I would get a used M55 or an OneVibe
Yamaha has been excellent to me when I needed new bars. I will update because I just broke my vibe pedal so we shall see!
Also, I’m not really sure how the OneVibe is above and beyond the Yamaha. I will check out the first video, but they seem comparable. True story: Malletech borrowed my vibe to test as they were developing their prototypes which I got to play. Mike Mainieri signed my low C-sharp thanking me 😂
Thanks for the great reviews! One note: the $4500 price for the One Vibe is without the motor. As usual, Steve Weiss beats the other spots with motor at $4850 versus $5000 or more.
Thanks, I just have misread the other sites.
thanks for all this information
So nice of you!
@@Marimbalogy finally the best I can buy is mallet kat isn't it?
Sorry this was not for this video 😃
Well done. How about doing Vanderplas, Bergerault, Adams, etc. The 4 and 4.3 octave instruments are an issue in themselves, I would like that examined as well.
If someone wants to send me one or is driving distance to Virginia, I'd be happy to :)
@@Marimbalogy I see. Let's think about that some more. Where in VA?
@@nahumben-yehuda3611 I'm in Staunton
Van der Plas is out of business and I doubt that Adam's or Bergerault is one the same level.
This is an excellent video. I think I will go with a One Vibe, with NO motor but with red keys. I am sure that will cost.
Now an epic battle: Marimba One One Vibe VS a Musser M55G.
Both are instruments I’m considering lol
Bars sound better on Musser, but frame sucks and the resonators eventually rattle
@@Marimbalogy why can't there be a perfect vibraphone! I've heard Musser's have the best sound but it seems like on features and frames the Musser's are beat by Adams, M1, Malletech and Van Der Plas.
@@Marimbalogy What about on the M75? That frame seems super durable....but unfortunately doesn't seem adjustable.
@@nicholassimmons9706 I really want to play on a Vanderplas. But so far, Musser's sound the best, but they have arguably the worst frames and the noisiest resonators. I'd like to try an adams alpha series soon!
@@nicholassimmons9706 Yea, that stinks about the mussers is most of them are not height adjustable. That's a bit of a problem for tall people.
Is this a new 2019 Omega?
The frame noise is awful
Sounds like a cheap glockenspiel noise
Yes, I just got it a couple months ago. The frame noise is equal to the top octave of my marimba one marimba, so I don't notice it too much. But when you compare it to the one vibe, it's night and day.
Interesting sound comparisons. I was hoping to hear some bar-damping techniques and hear these in a jazz context. The Omega sounds so smooth and clean here: czcams.com/video/KJpUeUhJXsM/video.html
I like all of your points though. Especially the points about the case and the cover. I wonder if Malletech's damping mechanism impacts the price. I strongly prefer the damping ratio of the Omega, but the speed options of the One Vibe. Thanks for the sharing those wav images.
Also, kudos for using Green Hill Zone as an excerpt. That was epic! I literally just finished recording my own arrangement of this last night...on Orff instruments :)
Keep up the good work!
Marimba one makes significantly better marimbas than malletech, and from this video, i think they make better vibraphones also.
