I've got a 13 plate record grey 595 comp and done around 40k miles in it. Daily drive, long journeys and Lake District is where this thing shines. Cornering is so flat and responsive, it's such an intuitive drive. Love them. If you ever have a test drive be prepared to buy it.

*on the series 4 with the Garrett 1446 you can go intake, intercooler and a tune4performance map and get around 230 bhp and around 280ft-lb. they have so much tuning potential, mine runs 250/290 and also some people have got 300bhp from the 1.4 engine lol. Mental, got a few vids on my channel of 300bhp Abarths*
Stef ABtv some have got 650hp out of a turbocharged R53 MINI Cooper S! With a mild turbo conversion 450hp is easily obtained! With the stock supercharger 300+ is relatively easy!

Nice review! The comment on the mods is exactly right. I’ve got exactly the same car and had mine custom mapped almost immediately with added pops and bangs. Just on the map alone I’m up to 215bhp and 285ft lbs torque. It’s axrually mental to drive now and can keep up with a lot of cars! 😉

ha nice video and you described my remap; 210bhp with pops & bangs (thank you Tony at Tune4Performance) :D it's now become the 'go-to' map people keep asking me about. for £375 it transformed the car, also note that it's running huge torque for such a small engine - 277lbft (367Nm)! it;s the torque that really makes this a quick little car. good review Jamie

Lots of people hate the arbarths styling wise but I really like it inside and out !
The Italians know how to make a good engine, I had a punto GT turbo a long time ago and that thing was quick and blew all the hot hatches of that era away, even the clio williams.

Owned an Abarth 500 a few years back...best car I've owned...more fun than the Polo GTi and S3. Sabelt seats look nice but I'd opt for the £150 leather upgrade to make that interior slightly comfier and give you the height adjustable drivers seat. As a daily driver...more practical than you might expect as well.
How about the maintenance? Did it cost you a lot?

Like the top gear style questions and answers. I'd probably go for the 695. Claimed 6 secs to 60mph which is mental for a little car but seen them going for over 20k which makes it hard to pick the 695 over the 595.
nah, remap a decent comp for 300 quid nd it will fuk any 695. trust me, I fix em..

Darren and Sarah Sapsford yes! I test drove one yesterday and it has maximum grin factor. It’s very much like a 5GTT but the only thing is that those seats make you feel like you’re sitting on top of the car, rather than in it.
I was close to buy one of these, but I prefered a Peugeot 208 gti bps for the price. If the 695 biposto were cheaper... That one is amazing.

Yes same engine. Turbo in the 145 is the IHI and in the 165 and 180 models they have a Garrett 1446

@@tanglewood777 I'd say you would be looking at 55-60 bhp more (around 200 - 205 bhp) as it will need mapping anyway. With supporting mods on a non-hybrid Garrett turbo 230ish bhp should achievable. That's with a front mount intercooler, decat or sports cat, intake, actuator (possibly) and remap. Obviously brakes and suspension would need beefing up. Or go hybrid Garrett and achieve 250-260. Correct me if i'm wrong though

F*ck the 4 people, most of the time i go alone or with my dog, if i can fit a full drum kit in my fiat 500 i can fit a full drum kit in this and that's one of the reasons why this is my dream car :D one day...
Perhaps Honda are more comprehensive when upgrading the Type R models over the standard models. I.e. stiffened bodyshell, Close ratio 6 speed gearbox, lightened flywheel etc.
Also, the Abarth brand is somewhat sullied as FIAT like to put the Abarth branding on the MUCH lesser models such as the Punto and perhaps 124 Spider.
2 things wrong with this car.....those wheels are horrendous and look like cheap wolfrace jobbies (the multispokes are a lot nicer) and those seats have no height adjustment ☹️☹️
