I would recommend to take the headlights out with the two bolts that stick up above the grill and use the original base because some aftermarket headlight base are thin and hard to adjust, and also you can do it without having to remove the grill.

Nice job on video. '97 Silverado truck had to replace headlamps and and signal lamps, and all the bulbs too. My kit came with height bulbs as well same company, but already bought the lens so put them in. Only thing I would add is 9006 is the low beam and 9005 bulbs are high beams. But made it a quick job for me maybe 1/2 hour. It's winter time in so dak and outside so ya,speed is of the essence. Good job brother!!

I just removed the lens on the old headlights and install the new lens. You can leave the old housing instead of taking the grill off. But yea looks much better.

auaiao9 yes it does, I’m a fan of the Obs chevy models, 89-99 I also own a 97 chevy single cab step side, just love those trucks, very good motor and last forever

@@Grtruckingdemolitionllc GMC/Chevy had conversion models of their trucks back then and I wanted one a lot. They were really nice.

I used these headlights on my 99 Suburban, installed them in April 2018 and am happy with them. Just had to change the low beam bulb on the passenger side, because it got wet when water got in the lens. That's the only bad thing I've seen about the cheaper lens assemblies, they sometimes aren't completely sealed. A little silicone will fix that though.

1988 was the first year for that body style, but just on the 2-door cab pickups & in 1992, the 4-door cab pickups & fullsize SUVs like yours were also redesigned to that body style.

Thanks for posting. Very helpful. My headlights are getting really milky from the inside and outside. Tried polishing but did not improve greatly or last.

I think I would have tried the headlights before putting the grill back, just in case.

Wrong!! Mine wouldnt budge in any direction. The posts do nothing besides spin. You have to buy pre balanced ones or else just return them.
