    I hope your video encourages more people to get out walking and go to places they’ve never been to before and to ditch the fizzy drinks and junk food.

    I just watched your video on collagen. I had a very bad foot problem and I took some collagen and it went away the next day. I was able to play tennis then. Now when I stop taking it, my joints everywhere hurt a lot. Soon as I started back, the pain was gone.😊

    Thanks for sharing. I am curious to know how relevant are their numbers. Are they biased for lower numbers to encourage further testing? Do they know the chronological age of the sender?

      Thanks for watching! Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond. I've been on an extended vacation. Great question. They know your chronological age because you fill out a form which includes information such as age, height, weight, body fat percentage, etc. Their test is what's called a phenotypic test. The American Heart Association explains it like this: "Instead of a calendar to assess chronological (actual) age, phenotypic age is a robust measure of biological (physiological) age calculated based on your chronological age plus the results of nine blood markers (routinely captured during clinical visits) for metabolism, inflammation and organ function". The blood test I took was based on 13 biomarkers.
      When I was doing research about their test specifically I saw a video of a woman in her late 40's chronologically and her results showed that her biological age was in the early 70's she was shocked and extremely disappointed. But at least she knew where she stood and could then start making improvements. Of course they want to sell you more tests. I get emails from them all the time but I don't believe they "doctor" the results especially because you could easily order those blood tests elsewhere to compare for accuracy. If they were doing that it wouldn't take long for the word to get out and it would ruin their business very quickly. Thanks again for watching the video and thanks for your comment.

    I exercise a lot and eat what I think is a healthy diet, and I've managed to climb a few mountains in my old age (73 now). Where can I get those tests to which you refer? I manage to get one of my many doctors to test me on a few things but not nearly enough.

      See my response on PhenoAge. You can order your own blood tests on line (Ulta Labs for example). On diet check out the work of Gary Fraser and Walter Willet, long term (decades) researcher on diet, health and longevity. At 70 yo I think I am doing fairly good. No meds, very good blood work, excellent liver and kidney function. Moderate daily exercise and a healthy diet mostly plant based, and minimal junk or highly processed food. Lat meal early (6pm) and cutting alcohol has help my sleep a lot.

      I hope I'm as active as you are when I'm 73. I got the "inner age" test from a company called Inside Tracker. I've asked them for an affiliate link a few times now but so far they haven't given me one. So, unfortunately I can't give you a link with a discount. I really like them because they give you an online portal with suggestions on how you can improve each biomarker related to your own tests. It's one of many options out there but so far it's the one I like the best. Hope that helps.

    Ok so you said Keto, but later you said "more carbs" and also "whole foods based diet" @6:43 notably you did not say plant-based. How often do you eat meat? Thanks

    • @JTJaredTaylor
      @JTJaredTaylor  Před 18 dny +1

      Good question. I should probably make a video on this topic. Think of whole foods as the foundation. No "ultra processed" foods. And keeping sugar low. I eat meat nearly every day but small portions. I also eat eggs almost every day. I'm trying to keep protein levels high. I've already experienced what it's like to lose muscle and have a hard time gaining it back so I'm not willing to do "low protein" as many longevity researches seem to suggest. Longevity doctors seem to advocate higher protein. I tend to listen to them since they are dealing with real life situations and treating people.
      Protein aside I do the best I can to get 7-10 cups of vegetables every day. Sometimes I fall short but I've been able to be pretty consistent. I eat a sweet potato or regular potato about once or twice a week or every other week or so. I have also started eating rice occasionally. Maybe once every other week?
      As for liquid I stick to water most of the time but often one of my meals (usually breakfast) is a spinach (or kale and sometimes mixed greens) and berry shake with 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil, water, whey protein, collagen protein and creatine added in. Love it. Because I get a satisfying meal that is jam packed full of nutrients and it doesn't take a long time to eat. 😁 I also still fast occasionally. Hope this answers your question.

      @@JTJaredTaylor ok that’s a pretty complete answer. Just a point though , longevity experts indicate a higher protein requirement for seniors, not for earlier life. Lots of data and organ issues and cancer risk associated with too much protein (especially animal protein) earlier in life. Human breast milk has one of the Lowest protein rankings of most mammals.

    • @JTJaredTaylor
      @JTJaredTaylor  Před 18 dny

      Do you mean what do I eat? I stick to whole foods for the most part. Lots of veggies, moderate protein, occasional sweet potatoes and sometimes a little rice here and there. Low carb mostly. I don't do strict keto any more. And I usually just drink water. It may seem odd to say but water is actually my favorite drink. Lately I've been leaning more toward the idea of a Mediterranean-ish way of eating. Hope that helps.

      Yes! Thank you! Thank you for watching and for commenting. That's what you would expect right? The challenge is that social media and media in general are jam packed full of hacks and hype and promises of quick results from a magic pill or some secret formula. I feel like society is conditioned to think there is a quick fix out there which could tend to lead someone to look past what is right in front of them. The only problem is it takes effort and consistency. That's often bad news for people. Human nature is such that those things aren't very appealing. Anyway that's my thought process behind this. Thanks again for commenting. Totally agree. 100%.
