      Columbine is by far the best of the developed National Forest campgrounds in the area. If your not looking for the solitude Greenie Peak or the top of the old pass road, then Columbine is a gorgeous spot with a roaring creek and a wonderful trail for some serious hiking.

    All I can say is AWESOME video!! You have captured some of the natural beauty of that area. As for the butane not working, there is a blend you can get that is formulated for high altitude. (isobutane in the mix helps with this). We used it a few years back when we were in that area. Well just west of where you were at. We were in Silverton last week and there was a good crowd... safe travels.

    so on my way from Louisiana to Colorado i was driving hwy 40 through new Mexico from Amarillo tx and seen a trail off the hwy with a sign that said good night loving trail, i looked it up and showed it was an old cattle trail that went to Colorado and to Utah areas. was wondering if you know anything about it. i been looking to see if its open for overland rides. think it be a good time to overland it . but below is the information i found on the web.
    The Goodnight-Loving Trail began at Fort Belknap (Texas), along part of the former route of the Butterfield Overland Mail, traveling through Central Texas across the Llano Estacado (Staked Plains) to Horsehead Crossing, north along the Pecos River and across Pope's Crossing, into New Mexico to Fort Sumner. The trail then continued north into Colorado to Denver, and was extended on into Wyoming.[1]

      Heck yeah!! Have fun!! Only lands managed by national park service and state parks and no fly zones for drones. National Forest and BLM is what we love!! We will be at Mt. West!!

    Hey bud, have a question... are 33" tires good enough to tackle some of the more technical trails that you run.? Looking at upgrading my tires, currently have 33" tires, but wondering if I ought to upgrade t0 35" or 37". Guess I'm asking your opinion on if 33" tires would work well enough on more technical trailes.... have a 3.½ in lift currently on my gladiator. Thank you sir. Hope to hear from you soon.

      33s on a Gladiator aren't going to get you far on technical trails. You've really gotta go bigger to compensate for that long wheelbase. 35s are a good start. 37s are even better.

    I’m sure it’s been asked and answered before, but what’s all that squeaking from your suspension? Currently looking at a lift for my JT, and this would drive me absolutely up the wall!

    Man I’d love to know where you were the 2nd night. Did you cross into Colorado from the Valle Vidal/Rio Costilla near the Culebra range or further west in the Rio Grande National Forest near Alamosa or Antonito??

      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 11 měsíci

      I crossed into Colorado in the Rio Grande NF southwest of Alamosa. The next day I had to make a run to Antonito for gas.

    Matt what’s your take or recommendation on going off-road alone? I just bought a gladiator and that’s what I love, the peacefulness of being alone, doing what I want and when I want to do it, but the #1 most common recommendation from online forums and such say make sure to go with others! I don’t want to go with others haha, what’s your take, particularly for someone starting out?

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 11 měsíci

      I go solo a lot and love it. #1 rule of going solo is don’t be dumb. Play it safe and don’t take unnecessary chances. Make sure you have a Garmin InReach or ZOLEO for offline communications.

    Absolutely love traffic circles vs: lights or stop signs, much less chance of an accident…
    How about strapping your winch line onto that tree and pull it aside?
    Note to self; when traveling in treed areas bring the chainsaw. Ignore if desert bombing…
    Do you have any experience with the smaller electric rechargeable chainsaws?
    I’m a landscape photographer and I’ve never really enjoyed visiting the known photo sites. To many people and congestion for my liking. Been thinking on a Jeep for several years as a means of getting further away from pavement to improve my photo subject matter, just haven’t had the means to afford one yet…
    Great that you’re traveling solo, so many CZcams channels seem to feature groups of off roaders. Do you prefer the Gladiator to a closed Wrangler?

      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 11 měsíci

      I feel like an idiot for not thinking about my winch for the tree until later in the day. I usually have a battery powered chainsaw and they are great!! For what I do the Gladiator is my favorite. We have a Wrangler too and it's my wife's favorite.
